I have a 99 Lexus ES 300 and I was interested in purchasing the Pioneer AVIC-D2 and I wanted to know if the system will operate with the glovebox CD changer?

Well, looks like the same thing has happened again. The VSC, VSC off, and check engine lights are all on at the same time. Its been like that since Sunday morning. I went to the Toyota dealership where I purchased the vehicle from and they told me that cataylitic converters needs to be replaced and I would have to take it to a Lexus dealer and the guy also told me that it would be covered under the 8/80K original warranty. If that is the case, should I be driving the car on a regular basis until my next week appointment? Has anyone had this problem before?

I wanted to know if anyone here had Pioneer AVIC-N1 DVD/Navigation? I have real interest in purchasing it maybe three months from now. One of my friends told me that I would have to get a customized dash made. Anyone heard of such a thing?

The lights went off early Sat when I was coming back from the Airport. I had an appointment with the Toyota dealership on Monday but since they lights went away, the guy said he would not be able to diagnose the problems until the lights comeback on and stay on. He also said it does that especially in the rain. He also told me some other stuff. Well, today, there was a thunderstorm and no lights came on. We will see I guess, when the lights do come on and stay on I will go straight to the dealer.

Update*************** Whie driving, the malfunction indicator and VSC are on now and they are not going away when I turn off car and restart it like before. I scheduled an appointment with the dealer Monday. Wanted to know if it was safe to drive?

I was driving this morning and it was raining but not that hard. My VSC is on and when I got on the Highway, I noticed the amber VSC light to the left of my console on and also an amber VSC off light on the right side of the console. This is the second time this has happened in three weeks. The manual said if those two lights come on that means VSC and traction system do not work. I wanted to know if anyone had this problem and if so I wanted to know what was done? I also wanted to know do the lights have to be on when I do take it to for them to see it in order for them to diagnose or even fix the problem?

I am taking the car to the Toyota dealership tomorrow. They really have to do something about it. Hope all goes well. :)

Today is the second week since I purchased the 99 ES 300. I have noticed something with my brakes. My car will run just fine but at times and its been frequent now when I slow down and about getting ready to stop my brakes makes squeaking or screeching noises. I'm not sure if it happens on all sides but it has been more frequent. Its really getting on my nerves everytime I stop and I can hear the breaks squeaking or screeching. I know that should not have happened. Could it be that one or more brakes are worn out? What do you guys think? Do you think it might be the breaks? or something else? When I took it last week for the battery check, I told them I heard the noise and looking at their invoice it says: "CK Break Squeak, No apparent problem with Brake System, Semi Metallic Breaks are okay at this time." I have the dealers 90 day warranty, balance of factory warranty and the extended warranty.

Great news, they gave me a new TrueStart battery after they test the car. :) :) :) :)

Well I have an appointment with them and they said they will check it out. I think they should replace it but I guess that's my opinion. I should not have had problems because I left the car on ACC for 30-45 mins after less than a week . If they don't, they prob lose a customer in my mom cause she wanted to get one of the new Corolla from that Toyota dealership. She's kind of second guessing now to whether she wants to get it from there. They prob don't care but I know that will hurt the salesguy who we promised we would comeback to get another car. All of this for something that cost less than $100.

And how much would that cost them to replace it?

the car was sold with a dealership 90 day warranty plus there was a difference with original manufact warranty 7/70,000 and on top of that I extended a three year warranty or "Gold Warranty".

Shame on me for trusing the Toyota dealership. You live on you learn I guess. I sure learned my lesson. (lol)

You're right steviej when you said Shame on me I guess for trusting people. I guess if the car starts the battery is A ok.

I had one of the most embarrassing moments up to date now. Yesterday evening went to Airport to pick up my dad, there was a delay so I had to sit in the car and wait for maybe 30-45 mins. During that whole time, I had the engine on ACC because I was listening to the radio. All of a sudden, the radio started acting funny, so I decided to turn the car completely off. My mom finally called me to tell me that m dad arrived. I started the car and it would not start. It made this clicking noise. I rolled up the window and it went up really slow. I knew then and there that the battery needed a boost. Thanks to this good Samaritan, I was able to get a boost. I felt so angry because today will be a week since I purchased the 99 ES. I don't think that should have happened. Today, I will go to the dealer demanding a new battery. What do you guys think? Should that have happened after a week? I don't drive the car that often and when I do I don't leave it on. So embarrassing to have to tell someone that happened cause only had the car for a week.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not looking for a standalone GPS navigation like the Garmin Streetpilot III Deluxe Portable GPS system. I want the flexibility of something like the PIONEER AVIC-N1. I saw some like it on ebay and i wanted to know if the Factory remanufactured was worth it for about half the price?

I also wanted the ability to play DVD movies too. I was cheking out ebay and I saw some Factory remanufactured ones. What do u guys think of those?

Since the 99 ES 300 don't have an option for DVD Navigation, wanted to know what's out there?
