  1. Hello. I have the lexus symbol and the word "LEXUS" emblem. Do you need those? OR just the "ES"?
  2. First of all, DO NOT GO TO THE PLACE YOU ARE DESCRIBING. THEY ARE BADLY RIPPING YOU OFF. I had my O2 sensors( all of them) and Mass air flow sensors replaced for less than $400. It takes about 5 minutes to replace these(their intent is to deceive you with the labor). Secondly, get the DENSO O2 sensors and DENSO mass air flow sensor. Denso is the best company and the recommended one for lexus. They are relatively cheaper than many and are the best quality out their. If I remember right, one cost about 100-150, depending on the sensor. The worst that can happen while driving with a bad air flow or O2 sensor is that your car will eat gas like its free, and overtime it will effect other parts of the car like the catalytic converter and possibly the engine. I would definitely recommend you to get these replaced. You will know the big difference and will save money on fuel, and prevent any further damages to your car which will come with a pricey tag. The place you described, again are trying to rip you off. Go around and get some quotes and then choose the best and cheapest place. Again, it should not cost more than 300 for all the sensors to be replaced. I had all of mine sensors replaced for less than 400, and you need only 2 of them to be replaced. Good luck! Let me know for further assistance.
  3. It could also possibly be your alternator.
  4. I would definitely buy the es330 over the maxima. No doubt, maximas are pretty good cars, but when it comes against the lexus es330, theres no chance. The es330 are more reliable and more trouble free. I currently have a 99 es300 with 86k and it runs excellent. I havent gotten any major work done, just the regular maintenance. Also look on the flip side, your getting a es330 which is a LEXUS, and is in the competition league with BMW and MERCEDEZ. Lexus is a luxury vehicle with a great sporty look and performance. Lexus lasts well over 200000miles. But before you purchase any car, make sure to get the CARFAX, and get the car checked out by a professional and well trained mechanic. Do not take it to a mechanic recommended by the seller. These 2 tasks are the most important in your decision. By the way, whats the asking price for the es330 and the maxima?
  5. Are you sure you got the right O2 sensors put in. They all are very similar for the 99es300. I also had a problem similar to yours, and had to get the O2 sensors replaced. It was a headache because I kept on receiving the wrong O2 sensors. They all look similar. Check out if you got the right ones
  6. Bay ridge lexus is very appreciative and excellent in customer service! Highly Recommend bay ridge.
  7. Do you know by any chance the title name of the post or the poster? Or under what forum it is?
  8. Hello. I have a 99lexus es300 with 86000miles. I want to get an oil change but want to do it myself. I been getting the oil change from the dealers since I've had my car, but now I will be able to do it myself. I want to know what kind of oil do the dealers use? Can you please be exact. And how many bottles or quarts do they use. Anyhelp will be greatly appreciated. THANKS ALOT!
  9. Hey tderrick, I have a 99 es300 and had the exact same situation. Hear me out on this. I also had misfires on almost all cylinders, check engine light was on, almost every mechanic I went to told me I need a tune up or coils or plugs changed or catalyst converter changed etc etc. I was so frustrated because I could not find from anybody what the exact problem was. But to my surprise, the problem was the oxygen sensors. I replaced all three of my oxygen sensors and the car was good and still is good. But you will not need to change all three sensors. It probably is one of them. You will need to go to a mechanic and tell him to perform the diagnostic to find out which sensor needs to be changed. I found out that I needed to replace my oxygen sensors by an electronically modulated diagnostic which checks the car performance in frequency and waves. This was performed by a highly professional technician. I would suggest to get this done and you should be good. Also by the way, before my problem was resolved, my car ate gas like it was free. Unfortunately, this morning I authorized the work to be done, limited to new plugs and coils. Hopefully, this tune-up will do the trick. But after reading your comment about eating gas, I am not so sure now that the plugs and coils needed to be replaced. If when I pick up the car this afternoon, I find that the car still runs crummy, who should I go to for the electronically modulated diagnostic, since I dont believe this mechanic can do this type of diagnostic. He uses the basic ODB plug in port type kit for testing. You should go to any certified mechanic shop. But remember to tell them that you are having misfires and that your plugs and coils are fine(you had them changed). Tell them does the problem have to do anything with the oxygen sensors. Mention to them that someone else had this problem too and the problem was the oxygen sensors. I also had a tough time finding a mechanic that could diagnose this problem, and luckily there was only one which found the problem and fixed it in like 15-20mins. About the test, the mechanic did the test while the car was running and while the car was idle. He was checking frequency waves, and other measures which I am not exactly sure of. He had the wires connected to the battery and the under the steering wheel you check the OBD codes from. If you are located in NY, which I doubt, I can give you the address. But I am 99.9% sure it is your oxygen sensors. If anything, just let me know and I'll see how I can further help you. Well, this past Friday I picked up the car and after three days, its running better than it has in years. The only work that was done was the tune-up (6 new double platinum plugs). I guess that the oxygen sensors were'n't it at all. Thanks for your time and thoughts. PS> Im in Southern California where oxygen is at a premium! Good to know your problem was solved!

  12. Hey Jim, I had this problem also with my 99 es300. I got alignment many times but the problem was still persistent. Then I had laser alignment done and after that my car was good to go.
  13. Although anything possible I guess, I don't see how rotors and brake pads have anything to do with induces a vibration after a tire balance. Its true tire balancing has nothing to do with the vibration but the symptoms you are describing lead to believe that it could possibly be pads, rotors, or rods. When going at high speeds and then braking, the car sometimes shakes due to unleveled rotors and pads. But I think your rods need to be checked. Does your car start to shake when you apply the brake or does it shake without applying brake over 65mph?
  14. You should get your brake pads and rotors changed. I had a friend who had this problem and after getting the pads and rotors changed the problem didn't exist anymore. It could also be your tie rod ends. I would suggest to get these checked out from a certified mechanic.
  15. Hello. You should get a a diagnostic. Many times the check engine light comes up if you need a tune up or an sensor replacement. Its nothing big since the car is running fine. I would suggest getting a diagnostic and then solving the problem.
  16. Hello. I have a 1999 lexus es300 with 86000 miles. When I am stopped on a red light, my steering vibrates. When I drive, it does not vibrate. Its only when I am on D and idle. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone know what the problem can be? I took the car to mechanic but they say its normal. I know its not normal. I drove other es300s that have mileage around mine but they dont vibrate. Thanks
