  1. Gee,I have the same car and was told that there is no a/c filter!! Is this filter replaceable?..or is it one that gets cleaned.
  2. Thanks for your reply...but what's an 'aeromotive unit'?...and how would the compression fittings be placed on the line without leaks?...AND why do you think the Masters at LEXUS set up this system so badly?
  3. Thank you for the sensible explanation.....
  4. Wondering if one uses steel wheels, instead of aluminum, for snowy weather- does one pay a penalty for the presumed extra weight? Would an sc300 handle differently, all things being equal, and would gas mileage go down in any discernable way?
  5. ....attatched to the front door,on a 1992 sc300..is the information that the vehicle was manufactured 1/92. On the bottom line is the number "924". Does this designate the vehicle as the 924th off the line?
  6. I don't know if this is the right section for this question...but here goes.... I have a 92 sc300, five speed. I live in the Northeast. I leave the country for several months during the winter. I've been strongly advised to start the vehicle, run the air conditioning for ten or fifteen minutes, once a week! Aside from human intervention,I'm wondering if there is a way to set this up...for instance with a simple remote starter and a timing device(set-up inside my home)? One problem ,clearly,is that one can't start the car by key without depressing the clutch. Any thoughts, aside from hiring undocumented workers, would be appreciated.
  7. Well....I refer only to the two back tires..both are rated V...however it appears as if the belting on one of them has shifted,or something, such that it's causing a audible 'Thumping'..so I'm thinking of replacing it with the brand new H rated spare....I know,I know...I should just spring for two matched tires....but I'm just inquiring!!!...so my inquiry refers to the replacement option...
  8. It would be easy to accept a fact of an auto burning oil such that it should be checked 'from time to time'...no problem whatsoever...however,I've had many cars that never 'burned' oil between changes......
  9. Oh...it's a '92 Sc300.....and I've seen where the 'main'O2 sensor sits above the block...there are others,as well for the straight six?
  10. Picked up my SC300,obsessively maintained 80,000miles,and the original owner informed me that whenever he used 'regular' oil he would 'lose' a quart of oil between changes. Then he switched to synthetic oil and the oil level was not reduced between changes. Had the oil changed before a long hard drive and used a hybred oil...part synthetic/part petroleum(I don't recall the brand designation). I'm approaching 3,000 miles and note the oil is down about 3/4 of a quart. There didn't appear to be any oil leaks. Would anyone advise? Thanks
  11. On a SC300 would I be provoking problems by mounting on the rear...one fancy H rated tire and the other a fancy V rated tire?
  12. ....or how often should one change the fuel filter...are there any indications for this replacement....I can't recall seeing this procedure in Maintenence Schedule......?
  13. Thanks.....Some autos have the set up that after a certain number of bleeps it stops.....but probably correct about locking myself out after cutting the wires.......
  14. Thanks for your suggestions...I'll wait 'till it 'throws the code'....I guess it is placed under the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' category....
  15. Is there any way to turn off(Fuse Yank?) the Bleeping Bleeping when one leaves the key in the ignition and opens the door -on an early sc300?
  16. Thanks....but would it be to the engines advantage to change it BEFORE the code comes on?
  17. ....should one replace this part...are there any indications that it should be changed? Thanks in advance.
  18. ...on the dash, drivers side, way left, there is a little black plastic half-dome,maybe 1/2" in diameter. No reference to it in the drivers manual. Automatic brights dimmers?Cops eating donuts detector?,bad music sensor??????
  19. Trying to get off easy for 'Snows'-have the reputable tires, now need inexpensive rims to mount on '92 SC300 for a coujple of months of nasty driving. Is it true that virtually any 15'' camry rim will fit just fine on the SC? Perish the thought but I am considering mounting used rims. Any comments/advice? Thanks
  20. Yes...JP Importz...serious boy genius.....
  21. Somewhere on this great site I saw a suggestion of where to buy at discount/mail order bulk filters..OEM(Is that Denso?)...But now I can't find that reference...any direction please? Thanks
  22. ...I suppose that's assuming an 'auto' is assembeled in one day(I wonder?) For an early SC is there a way to determine the exact date of manufacture?...I found the month...but not the date.....
