  1. i bought a 2009 ls 460. I have 75,000 miles and I have not had one problem with the car except for the wind noise.
  2. hi EAW, I have a 09. I have the Mark Levenson sound system. I have a jack in the cneter console behind the gear shift where I can plug in my iPhone and play music. YOu need a cable which I bought from radio shcak to connect. then you press AUX on the radio contro and you are good to go. I do not know if you can copy music from the iPone to the card hard disk but I know you can using a CD. THere is a record function on the radio. if you play with the buttons you will find it when you insert the CD. I am not in front of the car. I will be later and I will try and write again. thanks phil
  3. the link did not go through do a ebay search for LS 19 inch rims.
  4. I put 19 inch rims on my car. see the link below. I did not buy chrome i bought matte. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-LS460-19-INCH-CHROME-WHEEL-EXCHANGE-LS-460-LS460L-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eb69e0864QQitemZ200632305764QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  5. I don't drive every day so I am doing this from memory. I have an LS 460 from 2009. In the upper left of the screen if the traffic is working I believe that the letters XM yellow or white and if the satellite traffic is not working then the letters XM are dark or grayed out. You cannot see traffic on the highest map resolution of the map. You have to press the minus sign several times. If the traffic is working then the roads will be either green, yellow or red for fast slow or traffic jam. If there is construction they'll be a yellow caution sign. I have only seen the traffic on interstate highways. I have never seen traffic on the rural roads or streets. I think you have to also turn it on. I forget if you click on the menu button or the info button but if you monkey around with the buttons is a place where you can turn satellite traffic on. It's not rocket science if you play with the menus. You may also have to refresh your signal with XM radio. Sometimes I have done that and it works. Also I find it works better in urban areas than in rural areas. The other day I was in Florida and rented a Mercedes E class and the navigation system on the E class is better. The car is not as reliable as the Lexus but the user interface is slicker on the Mercedes. Life is filled with compromises.
  6. I bought the same tires and they are much better. Steve suggested in a post above that PSI is important and it is. the ride s better at 31psi then at the 36 or 36 recommended. the lower psi make the care ride and handle better even if the tires wear faster. rgrds phil
  7. sorry i was on the road. yes you can watch DVD. in Japan you can watch TV Phil, the PS override also allows you to watch DVD's while moving right?
  8. It was easy but I like to tinker so that may be why. if you are afraid get some help. it is worth it. go to the website for the company and email them. they are great and the will send you the instructions on how to remove the dash and install the kit.
  9. I installed it myself it took me 2 hours. they give you detailed instructions. it worked like breeze. How difficult was the PS system to install? I'd like to do one for my LS600. Cheers, Hank
  10. Yes I have NAV and the Mark Levinson sound system. I also purchased and installed the Prestigious Society override so I can use the NAV while in motion. thanks phil
  11. I would love to learn more about this also. I met a Lexus executive on a plane and he told me that there have been a lot of Navigation improvements in the 2010 model year over my 2009. The voice recognition is also improved I am told. I wonder if I can upgrade my system? Welcome to the club I'll look into this for you, PM me with email address. B)
  12. I do not know if this is your problem but I have found that if that car remains stopped by use of the hold feature for more than a certain amount of time that the parking brake kicks in as a safety feature. It happened to me and I just pulled the little parking brake leaver and the parking brake goes off and you can drive. However you must put your foot on the brake to release the parking brake. I agree with Steve and I seldom use the hold feature but I do use it and there are time when it come in handy. Once you hit the open road you should turn off the hold button or that is what Lexus tell you. I hope this helps you.
  13. we have a 2009 ls 460l. we drove 20,000 miles in a little more than 12 months. I have never reset the average MPG or average MPH recorder. In that time we have averaged 41 MPH and 21 MPG. If I drive 65 mph I get 25 mpg and if I drive 75 to 80 mph I get 21 to 22 mpgi
  14. My 2009 Lexus LS 460 has the Mark Levinson sound system. The other day I tried to use my phone book and all of my entries had been deleted. It had worked the night before and no one else had access to the car. Also, my Blackberry Tour is set up to connect automatically. As soon as I start the car the display shows that the phone is dialing even though it isn't. I have to press the red hangup button or press the button on the steering wheel to hang up the phone. Last but not least people tell me that my voice sounds very soft and that the sound quality isn't as good as it used to be just a few days ago. Has anyone out there had this problem besides me? Does anyone have any advice for me? Thank you. Phil
  15. you can't and you do not want to. driving without a seatbelt is a little bit like smoking. Deep down inside we all know that we shouldn't smoke because it's not good for us. The same is true when it comes to seatbelts.
  16. I purchased that same car with the same features. I do notice a difference in the sport, comfort and normal settings. If you test the car on a exit ramp on the sport setting and on the comfort setting I think you will notice a difference. As for the GPS and phone you can purchase a kit to override the lockout. You can find it on this Board here: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=53767 Hope this helps. phil
  17. When I purchased my LS460L it came with 18 inch rims and tires. I liked the look of the 19 inch rims but I was told it was not a option. When I went back for my 15000 mile service I saw a car just like mine with the 19 inch 5 spoke rims. I asked the service manager and he told me that it was possible and that is what the owner of the dealership drove and that is what he drove. I asked for a price and it was $6500. I bought a set of 4 on ebay for 1650 with tires. Can any of you help answer some questions. 1. Will the speedometer still work correctly even though I have larger rims? 2. I do not know how the air pressure sensors work. The seller of the tires told me that his tires do not have any sensors. Can I remove the sensors from the 18 inch rims (which I plan to keep and use in the winter)? Or, should I buy new sensors? 3. Is there a trick to installing new sensors and or pairing them to the car? thanks phil
  18. I have exactly the same problem and I'm exactly the same height. In addition to hitting my head it's hard for me to see traffic lights when I'm stopped at an intersection. I had the idea of un-bolting the seat from the floor and moving it back. Not sure if anyone ever did that but that would solve the problem and would also give you more leg room which is also a problem for me. living in New York City, I fly it more than I drive so I just never got around to asking the dealership if they can do it. I'll be watching to see if anybody else has a better idea. Thanks Phil
  19. i own a 09 LS460 and I am having the same problem. I thought I was crazy but now that you are having the same problem I am not so sure. The next time I go in for service I will ask them to check. phil
  20. I know a fellow who ships cars and trucks around the world. some exotic cars. he has shipped 53 foot MRI trailers for our company over 80 times. I will email you his info when I get to the office. If he does not know he will know where to look rgrds phil
  21. Call the seller. The zip code is NYC but the area code is Maine. Ask the seller why the low price. I export used equipment and a honest seller will never be offended by a polite question. Fly out and drive the car before you buy. phil
  22. Steve my car is a LS 460L awd I checked, I paid 85 with 1500 off. I hope that I did not overpay. My car had a lot of options. I just built a car online and the cost of my car was 84,500. I also purchased some little do-dads from the dealer and that is how I got to 85K. If did overpay it is too late now. Anyway I am happy with the car even if it is not perfect in every way. To me it is wort every penny I paid. I do think there are small and inexpensive things that Lexus could do to make the human interface better. I would buy the car again without them but I do wish they could change just a few things. rgrds phil
  23. i drove the rwd and the awd. i liked the awd a lot better! drive both and you will see what i mean. they told me that they did not make many awd cars and that they would not give a discount. my dealer only gave me 1500 off. the awd comes standard with a better suspension and some other features so check that out. btw i paid 85k for my car so the price must have come down or i my car had more options.
  24. I agree that you get a lot of car for the money and i hope that it is as reliable as my friends tell me. I tested the car and made my decision to buy with my eves open. Still, it might be possible to add some features without spending much in the way of extra money. For instance; To use the sound system you must use a combination of buttons on the dash and buttons on the touch screen. It is a small thing but it would be nice if we could do it all from the touch screen. Also in the sound system you have to forward and you can not go backwards. If you are on Sat 1 and you want to go to AM you must go to Sat 2, Sat 3 and then AM. Again it is not a huge problem but it would be nice if you could go backwards and do it on the screen. I knew this when i bought the car and bought it anyway but still both changes would be simple changes that are more user friendly and I suspect cost nothing. I really would like to see the European turn signal where you touch it and it stays on for 3 seconds. If you had that feature you would love it. I would pay extra for it. Above I mentioned the steering wheel controls that i think are not user friendly. None of this is a deal breaker for me because i bought the car but some of the changes might make the car better without much cost. For the record the NAV and Radio lockout is one thing that I think is a mistake. To remove that would cost nothing. I bought the override so it is a non issue for me. One thing i will say... the Satellite phone that you pay Lexus for has better voice recognition than the steering wheel phone interface. So far it has never failed me. I wish Lexus had a way for us to share our suggestions. One more thing.... I am happy that the car I picked to buy was rated number 1 by consumer reports. All of us should be happy! rgrds phil
  25. They must not have tried to use the Nav while rolling, or voice recognition, or didn't mind wind noise, or.... ;-> Whit Hi Whit, I do not know what to say about the wind noise because we do not have any but I did make a post about a work around on the NAV. Here it is: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=53767 I had a Me/Bz and there are little things i liked better about the S over the LS and things I liked better about the LS over the S car. I went with the LS because I believe it will require less service. I hope I am right. I miss the lane changing turn signal, and the speedometer that tells you your speed in numbers, the Me/Bz cruse is less complicated and the steering wheel controls and easier to use on the Me/Bz. But the LS is put together better and the touch screen controls are nicer. The break on the steering wheel is a great feature in city traffic and the phone quality is better. I think the point of the Consumer Reports story is that when you add up all of the pluses and minuses that the LS is better according to the survey. Neither car is perfect but the LS is a little better. All of us who purchase the LS before the results of the CS story can feel just a little better about the decision that we made to buy the LS. I know that I do. Please buy and install the override. You will be so glad if you do. If I can do it anyone can. phil j
