Hi Tevi, I get this far too and then remove the covers for access to the tail lights on the tail gate. The problem then is, how do I change the back-up/reverse globes in the housings either side of the license plate? I can get my hand into the rear of the reverse light reflector but there does not seem to be a snap-out light sockett connector... That's why I suggested there might be some 'trick' to changing the globe - not sure.... :-(

Hi LexiKon, LED globes are polarity sensitive - that is, they work one way only - if they don't work, just rotate them in the sockett (so the current flows the other way) and they should work! On a similar note and related to my earlier post - who can help me change (to LED) my Back-up/Reverse globes?? I know how to remove the card cover on the rear tail-gate and then to un-screw the two pannels to get to the tail-lights but the ones I want to change are either side of my number plate and for the life of me I can't get my hands into the gap to undo the globes - surely there is a 'trick' (like the side tail lights and front indicator lights to remove)... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

G'day Fella! I have a 2007 LX470 with about 40k's on the clock and have had the same experience as you with dash rattles (though not the accumulators thankfully). I just kept pestering my dealer (Lexus of Chatswood). They have had my dash out three times (!) and replaced it once; they are actually very accommodating of my "zero rattle" policy. To fix the rattles they have done a lot of application of insulating tape (foam with one side sticky) inside the dash and importantly around the whole circumference of the dash - since then, even on the roughest roads - silence! Though, my passenger headrest has just started to rattle... so off to Chatswood I go! Glenn

Hi JIm, Yes, that's the light but once you remove the panels via the three philips screws you still cant get to the back of the reverse lights (maybe my hands are too big?), but I cant see how you can do it. Glenn

Hi Jim, Thanks for the link but it does not describe the globes I want to replace. The ones I want to change are the globes in the clear reverse lenses, these are mounted either side of the number plate. When taking the carpet/cover off the inside of the tailgate I can see the two pannels that cover the stop lights/indicators but the reverse lights look like they are part of a pannel that the number plate mounts either on to or through into the tailgate. You cant access the reverse globes from the inside of the tailgate - looking through the gaps in the tailgate you can see the silver coloured light mounts/housings but you cant access them. Maybe I should take off the number plate but from recollection there are no screws - maybe the whole pannel clips on the ourside of the tail gate?? Thanks, Glenn

I get around 15-16 in the city, 17+ on the interstate. Recently got 20.5mph (record high) returning from flagstaff (downhill for 20 miles, plus speed was 70mph). Normally at 70mph, I can get around 17.5-18 in AZ (chevron 91). In So. CA, I always get 2mph LESS than in AZ, carrying the exact same loads and running chevron 91. My hunch is that the 91 oct gas in CA has more ethanol to boost the octane. Since ethanol has less energy than gas, you get fewer mpgs. Also, there are zillions of traffic lights in Orange County, one practically every 1/4-1/2 mile, and lots of steep hills. Here in Tucson, the hills are gentle, air is thinner and warmer. I also learned that when it's cold, your mileage will suffer. During the summer in Flagstaff, I can get 17-18mpg driving around Flagstaff (7000 ft) and on hwy 80, but during the winter, the same drive only gets 16mpg. My guess is the denser/colder the air is, the richer the mixture (eg, more air, more fuel), and hence the more fuel consumption. In fact, I get my best fuel economy in all my cars during the summer when it's 100F outside. The air is thin, engine doesn't require any warming up. You could try running a higher tire pressure than the recommended 29/32psi. I found that that pressure was too low for my LX (unloaded), as my previous tires (Bridgestone dueler HT's) were worn more on the outer and inner edges rather than the center, indicating underinflation. I had them at 32-33 psi, all 4 tires. With my new Michelin LTX/MS2's inflated to 38psi, I am getting about 0.5mpg better than with the Bridgestones (probably because of the higher pressure) and the ride quality is similar (not any harsher due to the higher pressure). Anyways, I'd try a higher tire pressure like 36psi. My mileage (or is that kilometerage) tips: 1. Use high octane petrol 98 rating with extra octane booster 2. Inflate tyres to 38psi with nitrogen 3. Remove all excess weight - third row seats and spare tyre 4. Drive at constant speeds and avoid hard breaking/acceleration (maybe watch the "econo-guage" in the info display) 5. Slipstream trucks 6. Coat my paint with Teflon spray 7. Fold side mirrors in flat 8. Keep the radio antenna down (listen to mp3's) 9. Keep the aircon off 10. Don’t turn on the lights 11. Don’t use the fridge in the centre console 12. Use a grappling hook to get a tow when I can 13. Remove the air filter 14. Disconnect 4 spark plug leads (alternately around cylinders) That's all I have thought of doing - any more suggestions?

Hi, could someone please explain how to change the Backup/Reverse Globes in my 2007 LX470? These are the ones either side of the license plate on the tailgate.

Undo screw at top and pull directly forward (that is if your truck is the same as my Australian spec 2007) - you have to pull hard and watch out for your fingers, I cut mine the first time I tried it.

Thought this might be useful/dangerous :P : 1. Start the engine. 2. Switch to the "Display Check" screen. 3. From the display adjustment screen, touch the corners of the screen in the following order: upper left --> lower left -->upper left --> lower left --> upper left --> lower left. 4. The diagnostic mode starts and "Service Check" screen will be displayed. Service inspection starts automatically and the result will be displayed.
