Stuff Missing From My Rx400h
cduluk replied to C5Bob's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
What do you mean the "pad" that fits at the bottom of the cupholder? I just bought a spare 04-09 Rx330/350/400h center console (for the wood pieces) and have the rest of the parts left over. If you show me what you mean, i can send it to you. -
Yupp, they're only on the Rx's in the UK (or some other country...). Here's a vid showing the lines on a car from overseas. The 04-09 Rx's in the UK have power folding mirrors, the assisting lines, rear fog lights, a ton more than we have here in the US...

Looking For A Bull Bar For My 08 Rx400h
cduluk replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Thanks Lexirx :) I know, i know everyone tells me that about showing my license plate, but it's already been posted all over in various other forums etc, it'd be impossible to go back and delete them all... Plus i like the plate, so what the heck. Everyone knows it here in RI anyways, who cares if someone in the other side of the planet knows it too lol. -
Well it's been a few weeks and i am still loving the Rx400h!! Still searching cars.com and autotrader etc too see if anyone else's got a price better than what i got, and there's only one silver one with low mileage for 30k, but there's accident history (even has the older style 06-07 headlights lol...). All other 08's are in the high 30's or low 40's even with the same mileage as me! So i'm pretty darn satisfied :)
-
Jeesh, the HEAT! lol You guys gotta relax, remember we're all on the 'Lexus' side anyways <_<
-
Haha yeah, we made the sale so quickly i didn't have time to remove the projector headlights, find a buyer, and buy factory ones to replace them with- so we just sold it with the projectors. The guy even worked for a lexus dealer a few years ago, had no idea they weren't stock, that's how good they were ;) Here's the link for my rx300 he's selling lol http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u...;standard=false As for the radar detector being tacky, this one ain't ;) It's a remote detector which means there's nothing in the windshield. Just a sensor mounted BEHIND the front grille (next to the two horns in front of the radiator) and wires through the firewall into the cabin. I made custom switches too. I dremeled a hole next to the headlight washer button and molded switches for the radar and laser. Looks 100% oem. No one will ever be able to tell i have it unless they open my hood. And for the laser jammers, i've mounted them, two in the grille and two in the smaller grille around the license plate. They're not very noticeable, but definitely worth having for the amt of driving i do. Here's the finished product. Picked up the emblem today from Lexus. I also painted the "inner" chrome sides with transparent blue stained glass paint to give it that "blue accent" effect that's present on the rear emblem of the 08-09 rx400h. I prepped the chrome and baked the paint on, should last forever. But if it's doesn't, the emblems are only $30 from Lexus... I think it looks really cool. The pics are dark, but it looks much better in daylight.

Looking For A Bull Bar For My 08 Rx400h
cduluk replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Sunapollo, here are a few more pics of the mounting points. It attaches on the bottom, and at the two bars that extend from the top that mount to the license plate bracket. I painted the bars flat black so you can't see them. The thing doesn't weigh that much, so it doesn't require anything more to hold it on. Let's just say it can push shopping carts that might be in your way though... -
Upgrading 06-09 Rx400h W/ Chrome Rims? A Few Q's...
cduluk replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
I was at the dealer today to pick up my new emblem and asked the parts guy about the chrome rims, and he looked at me like i had two heads... I guess it's not a popular request. -
Ugh. I'm not pretending to be someone i'm not, i'm just being honest. Stop saying i don't know what i'm talking about; i'm merely stating my opinions as to what's a better deal. I'm 20, i'm doing my best for what i've learned... I don't think anyone can argue 31k for a one year old Rx is a better deal than 31 on a brand new lesser car. Even you yourself stated you want to buy a used LS. When one has a budget to spend on a car, they're going to make sure they get the best bang for the buck... and i'm one of the many that think this way. Whether i earned the money myself or had the money come from my family, it wouldn't make a difference, i would still try to be smart. Stop trying to make me feel like any lesser of a person or any more "ignorant" or whatever you wanna call it, just because of my situation (because that's the vibe i'm getting..). I "know" what reality is like (at least somewhat of an idea) just as much as anyone else my age. I know things will be different when i'm supporting myself. But i'm doing the right things for my age, making the right decisions, at least to the best of my ability. I'm in school studying hard and getting good grades. I've had the same girlfriend for the past three years, i have a wonderful family, great friends, honestly i wouldn't trade my life for anyone else's. I consider myself fortunate, i'm not snobby, i'm sorry if that's how i come off. Just because i've been given nice cars, doesn't mean i "don't get it" any less than someone driving a Corolla would. Just because my family can afford to buy me nice cars, doesn't mean i'm "ignorant" of the real world. I've had several jobs, i've been in school for 15 years, i've been through everything else anyone else my age goes through, minus the drugs and attitude of course. I'm in the engineering program at the University of Rhode Island, and currently taking classes at Rhode Island College in technology education. I work extremely hard and hope to be quite successful after i graduate. All of my professors tell me that i'm very talented and have a bright future. I will continue to work hard so i will be able to have the nice things i've been given my whole life, if that's the type of things that 'make me happy' in the future. But for now, this is what i like to do, so i'm doing it. I consider myself lucky that i get to have nice things at such a young age. I know it's not the 'norm' but i'm appreciative. My parents can afford it, so they let me have nice things. I'm their only child (they were told they couldn't have any children, but then i was born) and they want me to have nice things. They're in their 60's, they have no mortgage payments, no other large expenses besides bills and lease payments, so they don't mind giving me nice things because they know that i work hard for it, and that i know the meaning of a dollar. They're not "breaking the bank", they don't "throw money at me" whenever i want it, they're very responsible parents and base their decisions on how i act. If i was a lazy spoiled "brat", trust me, they wouldn't give me nice things until i learned the true meaning of a dollar. SW, (Steve, right?) I've always admired you on this forum, always though you were a great guy- but honestly, i'm quite hurt by some of the personal accusations and comments you've posted on here towards me. It's embarrassing on my end to have everyone else on the forum read the degrading things you've said about me when you don't know me personally. I would appreciate it if you just... lay off the negative personal remarks about me, ok? I mean if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all (parents taught me that one). I mean, i know you don't like me for whatever reason, but can you try to keep these type of comments off the boards? All of your accusations are based off of a few posts, If you really knew me, you'd think totally different things... I know you have nothing else to go by, but it really hurts me when you say stuff like this when you don't know everything about me... I know (hope?) you're not trying to say these things to be hurtful on purpose, but it would mean a lot if you could try to be a little more open minded, or at least make an attempt to be more sensitive when it comes to personal remarks... what can i say, i'm a softie. thanks everyone!

Upgrading 06-09 Rx400h W/ Chrome Rims? A Few Q's...
cduluk replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Do you think someone locally would offer a warranty? It might be a good idea, i always thought it would be much too expensive though. -
SW, why does every thread i post end up with you lecturing me about how i'm 20yrs old and have parents supporting me? I don't understand why you keep bringing it up. I'm just appreciative that i can have nicer cars at 20yrs old. When i have a decent job and am supporting myself, things will be no different. I guarantee i won't be spending $31k for a new car when i can get something better a year older... In fact if i was the one working for my money, i'd be even more frugal as to how i spend it. Age, income, still doesn't change the fact that it's a better deal to get one a little older with better things.

If they only put that on the 04-09 Rx's... The more i look at the 010 Rx's the more i want to never see one ever again. I don't know why, but i just don't like the styling. But i will give it time, it might somehow grow on me. I mean, when the 04 Rx came out, i thought it was "odd" but 6 years later here i am driving one... so i'll give it time.

Looking For A Bull Bar For My 08 Rx400h
cduluk replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
We all have our opinions, we all like different things :) I just wanted to share my ideas in case there was anyone out there who liked them. I understand there are many who don't like the same things- but heck, that's why we're on this forum, because we're all "car people" and like to do things to our cars to make them more unique. :) I really do appreciate everyone's input (whether positive or negative) because sometimes we need someone to just stop and say, "Wait a minute, that just ain't right!!" I like getting other's opinions about things i might do to my car. I mean it's always nice when someone says "nice work, i like it!" but even the negative opinions are appreciated for what they're worth... I know no one is trying to be rude when they say they don't like something, so i don't take it to offense. Personally if someone asked if they liked something they've done to their car, even if i might not particularly like, i'll either not respond to their posts or lie and say i like it... i just don't like saying i don't like something someone's done to their car if i know they like it... When i know someone's put a lot of money and time into a mod, i just can't rain on their parade... idk But i always ask for "everyones" opinions, so i expect both negative and positive :) -
Yeahh, the hybrid emblem and the 07-09 Rx350 emblems are larger than their predecessor 04-06 Rx330's... I didn't make it to the dealer today to pick up the new (hopefully right) emblem, but i'll get it tomorrow. But the grille is installed (just without the emblem obv) and i got the laser jammers installed, it looks beautiful. Really spices up the front of the car. I'll get some pics tomorrow :) And yeahh the Rx400h replaced the Rx300. <_< The Rx300's really nice, but i like the newer features of the 400h a LOT.

Upgrading 06-09 Rx400h W/ Chrome Rims? A Few Q's...
cduluk replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
I've never seen the Rx400h rims in chrome from whoever Lexus outsources... I'm going to the Lexus dealer tomorrow, i'll ask if they can work with me or something. I was thinking the Lexus dealer (since i didn't buy it from them) would charge an arm and a leg for this... I've had after-market chrome wheels on the Rx300 (that were regular Rx300 wheels just stripped and chromed) and they lasted 4 years just fine without a single pit or chip/peel. I think keeping them away from the snow sand and salt makes all the difference. And they do offer a 5yr warranty... and i mean if they're still together at the 5 year mark, they'll last another 5 years under the same circumstances. I mean if the plating process worked i'll be able to tell after a few months use... Everyone's telling me to get "22's" or some "regular" style chrome wheel you could put on any car, but honestly i think the 400h wheels are nicely designed for the car, they fit well. If the design works, why change it? -
Although the style of the 04-06 LS is nice, buying one now would just be too outdated. That style's already 3 years old whereas the RX's style's only a few months old... After having the Rx300 i know there's nothing worse than having a car that's outdated :/ But i agree buying a Lexus one-two years old is probably a better decision than buying one brand new. Cars lose a large percentage of their value after the first year, so you can get more bang for the buck going with a 1-2 year old vehicle. Especially being a Lexus, after two years and 50k miles, the thing is just worked in. If it was a Kia or another car with lesser reliability, well the only problem free years are maybe the first 3-4, so buying used might be a mistake... But i have to say i'm totally satisfied getting used cars. The Rx300 was 2 years and 30k miles used when i got it in '05, and there weren't any issues (besides the crap i did to it...) and i hope everything's well with the Rx400h. I might never buy a "new" new car again. Buying a car brand new and having it lose 20-30% of it's value after the first year is just scary to me... I'd rather spend $31k on a one year Rx400h with 40k miles than $31k on..... well the only NEW Lexus you can get for that is maybe an IS... And after a year it won't be worth as much as the Rx400h will in another years time!! Seems like a simple choice to me :)

Hey guys! I have an Rx400h with the stock 400h rims, but i want them in chrome. I don't want any "standard" rim, i want the 18" 400h rims just chromed, since i want to keep the same "look" and i don't want to mess with the engineering of the wheels shape etc... I've found a few links on ebay for a set of 4 rx400h rims that have been chromed, for $1,686 but i don't have anywhere near close to that much money to spend on them right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-18-LEXU...sQ5fAccessories There's also a link to an auction for a "trade" where they'd send me the chrome wheels and i'd have to send mine back, for $657. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-18-LEXU...sQ5fAccessories Only issue, is that i'd like to have a winter set (stock silver rx400h wheels) and a summer set (the chrome ones), so a trade really isn't an option. BUT... what if i purchased this "trade" deal now, and sent my stock wheels back (so i'd have the chrome ones for this summer) and between now and later on in the year (until Sept before the winter months) i could browse ebay for used rx400h wheels at a good price (hopefully less than 200 each shipped) and gather 4 to put on before the snow comes? Think it's doable? It would allow me extra time to come up with the money. I really won't risk using the chrome wheels in the snow, sand and salt- that's why i want a winter set. I'm sure the chrome wheels (even though aftermarket) will hold up if i only use them in the summer and clean them weekly, think? The next problem- the lexus air pressure sensors. What is the ordeal one must go through when switching rims/tires? What if i purchased a set of TIRES for EACH set of wheels (so i'd have tires that would always stay with the winter set, and tires that would always stay with the summer set). Would this prevent me from having to buy new sensors twice a year? This way, i wouldn't have to switch tires from the winter rims to the summer rims, and back and forth etc.... Plus this way, i could get winter tires for the winter rims, and all season tires for the summer set- just an idea... Any input is greatly appreciated!

Hey SW finally i did something to my car you actually like! lol :P Jeesh, you really think it's a cost thing?? Those little pieces can't cost more than a couple of dollars to make over the black ones... Lexus must have so many extras from the Rx300's they should have used them! I'm sure Lexus buyers wouldn't have minded paying $10 extra if they knew these were included... I really think they make a difference!

Well the grille arrived today, looks BEAUTIFUL but the emblem from the 400h does not fit. It's a tad too big. I went to my local lexus dealer, and they were stumped as to what emblem will fit. They looked up the thundercloud model, but couldn't find a special part number for the thundercloud grille emblem. They think the emblem from the 04-06 Rx330's will fit just fine. I went out into the pre-owned lot, and noticed there is a difference in size between the 04-06 Rx330 emblems and the 07-09 Rx350 and 06-09 Rx400h emblems, the 330's seems smaller, so i ordered one for $30... It's coming in Wed morning!!... We'll see lol. I wanna get it installed! It looks BEAUTIFUL.

Why did i think the factory warranty was only until 50k miles? Up till what time do i have to decide if i want an extended warranty?
-
Hey guys! Has anyone noticed that the 04-09 RX330/350/400h interior front side AC vent knobs are black (or tan if you have that color interior) whereas the two center ones are chrome? I don't mean the silver slits, but the knob itself. Well it was bothering me on my Rx400h, so i decided to upgrade them to chrome to match the two center ones. My first idea was just painting them with silver paint, but it wouldn't suffice... I remembered i had a pair of 01-03 Rx300 center vents (from my old rx300) and would you know it, the little chrome slits pop out, and so do the ones on the new Rx's, and they're the same size! A little super glue, and they fit right in. And here's what it looks like now :) I have no idea why Lexus would make them black, but they look a heck of a lot better chromed. Just looks more "Lexus" to me :) Just thought I'd share! :)

Hey guys/gals. Just purchased an 08 Rx400h a few weeks ago from a little no-name dealer for a good price. The car has 42k miles with its original warranty. Apparently the "major" stuff warranty ends at 50k miles, and was told i have 8k more miles to go before i purchase any type of extended warranty. Based on the fact that it's a hybrid and this technology is pretty new (since '06 on the RX) i think it would be best to get an extended warranty- but i'm stumped on which one to get. When we spoke to this slick salesman at this little no-name dealer, he suggested getting a warranty through them, that would cover more than the Lexus warrany covers. He stated his warranty (obv from another company...) covered things such as shocks etc along with the standard things like transmission and engine... But i just thought i'd ask you guys what we should do. Go with an independent warranty company? Or go with the Lexus extended warranty? I'd like to cover more years than miles since it's already starting out pretty high for a 2 year old vehicle. I'd like to have covered the next 5 years or so... Thanks for any input!

Warranty Won't Cover A Loaner Car?
cduluk replied to Gretchen333's topic in Lexus Warranty Discussions
If the car is under warranty, it's original and or the CPO warranty, then you should get a complimentary loaner if the work will take more than 1 hour for them. As for the shaking, that's not covered =/
