  1. "..They shouldn't..." Unless there was unequal tread wear between/amongst the 4 tires they removed, plus there can be NO DOUBT that the circumference of the new tires significantly exceeded that of the old worn out ones. Both or either of those issues can/might have an adverse affect on the VSC/Trac system. Actually no, really. The "idiot light" the OP is talking about is for the TPMS system, not traction control. The 07-09 RX350 doesn't have a light for the traction control. The TPMS button shouldn't have been pressed. It never needs to be pressed unless the owner wants more air pressure in the tires and needs to tell the car to set a new balance point. Or, if the owner buys another set of wheels and needs to have them programmed. The system is there to notify the driver when pressure gets below a previously set point. If a tire gets low, light comes on. Owner repairs and fills tire to proper level, light goes off automatically. The wheels can be removed from the car, taken to Japan for anyone cares, and come back 3 years later and be put back on the car and the light would go off and the car would be happy. There is literally NO reason Costco would need to press any TPMS buttons while changing tires. Simply take them off, put new tires on, inflate to the same PSI they were at before, and re-install. If Costco pressed the button, they made a mistake. And that's why the light's on now. It shouldn't have been touched.
  2. You didn't mention it in your post but i'll assume your profile is accurate that you have a 1995 ES300? If so, the only needles that will work are specific to the 1992-1996 ES300. The 1992-1996 SC300/400 and 1993-1996 GS300 gauge needles "look" the same, but they're not the same size and even have polarity reversed on the attachment pins.
  3. Are you talking about these? If so, they're supposed to be on whenever the low beams are on, or if you have the stalk on the steering column set to the "parking light" setting. It could be that yours are burned out...

    2012 Tesla

All electric (literally no emissions), price tag of a hybrid RX, and 0-60 in 5.6 seconds!!?? I'm completely amazed by this car! And it's actually GOOD looking! This is what the cars of the future will be based on for sure. <_<
  5. Wahhh? Any chance your IS is under warranty, either new or secondary? That's DEFINITELY not supposed to happen. Even if the car's out of warranty i'd still show your dealer. The only method of repair is to replace, and it's pretty costly. Also try eBay for a used one, might save a little $$$. Can you take a picture of the damage? Is it only the vent that's damaged? Or the radio? Upper dash area?
  6. Can you check your manual for the fuse? Something in my memory is telling me the radio lights are on the same fuse as the cig lighter and some other things... but i could be wrong. There are a few fuse boxes on your Rx300; the fuse you need is either behind the coin drawer to the bottom left of the steering column (open the drawer, yank it out; it's designed to come out) or in the engine compartment. The manual will direct you to them. When you find the page in the owners manual that lists all the fuses, next to each number fuse will be a little "blurb" listing some of the functions each fuse controls. With the car OFF, pull out and examine each fuse that lists either: radio, cigarette lighter, outlet, console, done, etc. There will be a few fuses that contain these words. <_< And do you have power to the cig lighters? If you find a blown fuse, replace it with another and see if it holds. If it blows again, then there's most likely a short somewhere... might want to check the center sliding console ashtray bulb.
  7. Well, there are 3 versions of the 04-09 RX330/350/400h headlights: 1: Projector, HID, Auto-leveling, AFS 2: Projector, HID, Auto-leveling, no AFS.......(the version you have) 3: Reflector, Halogen, no Auto-leveling, no AFS So, you should be good. All HID versions, all years, have Auto-leveling. <_< When you get the headlight it should have the auto-leveling motor still attached; it's very complicated to remove it without messing up the equilibrium.
  8. There's no "alarm beep beep on/off" button down there; quite honestly i don't think the RX even has one. If Costco can't fix it, tell them you're going to take it to Lexus and send them the bill. They shouldn't have had to touch ANY buttons when simply changing the tires.
  9. i'd stay away from aftermarket replacements... Try to look for a used 07-09 Rx350 headlight with your specs (HID without AFS). The headlights for the 07-09 models are identical to yours except the seals were modified to not cause condensation. If you get a used one, simply install the ballast, bulbs, and you're good to go. <_<
  10. Haha, this made me LOL! :P And i couldn't agree more!
  11. Seems like a LOT of unnecessary work to me... I actually did this modification, switching my front and rear directionals with LED bulbs. I just added the load resistors to each bulb (took about 10 minutes) and everything's good! Plenty of room to add the resistors in both the front and rear. No doubt the easiest way to get them to work. I wouldn't mess around with the factory relay...
  12. SERIOUSLY?? Why are people having trouble fighting these tickets? If they take it to court, the officer who wrote the ticket has to testify- good luck finding them after so many years! And why are the fines so high?? If someone got a $30 ticket 25 years ago, should they be forced to pay MORE for that same ticket now? And i don't like the idea that an outside agency is getting a portion of the money these violators have to pay for old tickets...
  13. Thanks guys, that's what I figured! I've been using the synthetic oil but I agree it needs to be changed more often. And as far as wasting gas, I think my getting to school early and parking waiting for a spot to open up beats what everyone else does; most people get to school 15 minutes early and just drive around and around for a spot to open. I've gotta guess that parking for 45 minutes is using less gas than driving around aimlessly for 15!
  14. I agree that the quality of the 06-08 RX400h is excellent. I have a heavy lead foot and tend to accelerate quickly, and I haven't had any issues with the car as a result of it. I average about 24 MPG in the summer months and about 22 MPG in the winter and that's with a heavy lead foot and 91/93 gas. The 06-08 RX400h is also the quickest Lexus SUV ever made, even to this day. The 2010-present RX450h is slower than the RX400h believe it or not. More power but less result due to the extra weight of the new model.
  15. You'll never overcome the extra cost of the hybrid even with better mileage unless you own the car for 6.02x10^23 years. If you buy a used one however it might be possible since the cost difference between hybrid and non hybrid version decreases with age.
  16. Oh yeah, definitely not able to go to class on a bicycle, it's a long 7 miles! It takes 17 minutes to drive to and from via car. And there's no way to avoid the time waiting for a parking spot :/ it's literally THAT bad here. There's only one strip where people parallel park and that's where I try to get. There's a regular parking lot, but it's even more busy and ill get too many door dings! I really don't mind waiting in the morning, in fact I like it. It gives me time to "wake up" and let the coffee kick in! I just want to make sure the RX400h can take it.
  17. That's the idea, but it's not the case with these "faulty" headlights. The seals along the perimeter begin to open up, allowing moisture to enter. Then, the seals close when the car's in the sun, trapping the moisture inside. The ONLY way to fix the issue is to replace the entire headlight. I've spent hours upon hours with Lexus headlights during retrofits and such- and believe me, they cannot be fixed. And don't bother trying to re-seal the headlights yourself as you won't have any luck...
  18. Adjust them how? Up and down? Left and right? Brighter? Different bulbs?
  19. Hey guys, As many of you know, I'm a college student and every day I have class I get to school about 45 minutes early to sit and poach for cars to leave so I can park for the day. On a typical day, I'll sit in the car parked with the ignition "ON" for about 45 minutes until class starts. During this time, the engine will go ON and OFF as needed like the Rx400h usually does, maintaining about 50% on the engine temp meter. I usually leave the heat/AC on low fan setting, and listen to the radio and such while I wait. Do you think this pattern is hurting the Rx400h at all? Are there any specific components that are likely to go out prematurely because of it? I have the oil changed with full synthetic twice a year, usually spring and fall. I put about 12k miles a year, about 90% city and 10% highway. It's approx 7 miles to school each day, all city. Thanks for your input!
  20. Personally I woul never install an aftermarket headlight as the quality will be even worse than the original. It's a very common problem to get condensation in the 04-06 Rx headlights. It didn't happen to "all" of them, just a few that weren't totally sealed properly. Its not really a "design" fault but a manufacturing problem. Do your headlights have HID projectors? Halogen projectors? Or halogen reflectors? Once you find out, look for a headlight of the same type pulled from an 07-09 rx350/400h as the headlights for these model years are 100% identical to yours in terms of shape, but had the condensation issue fixed for the most part. All japanese/canada types will fit. They only differ in the designs of the "vents" that are located on the back of the hadlight. However there's no difference in terms of which has less condensation. You'll be able to find a replacement OEM headlight from an 07-09 from ebay. Just make sure the seller indicates which year and model it came from. Avoid someone saying its from the full range of 04-09 as clearly they don't know the difference. If it indicates it came from an 07-09 you're most likely in the clear. And blowdrying the moisture out won't do a darn thing. Next time it rains you'll get moisture again. It has to do with the seals... it can't be fixed correctly, believe me I've tried before.
  21. Hmm, I don't think the '07 model needs the ISC reset. The general belief seems to be that only the 06 RX400h's need the ISC reset procedure after the battery is removed. I've done the reset on my '08 and it didn't do a darn thing.
  22. HUH? Do you have an SC430 or not? If so, like 1990LS400 said you already have HID bulbs. In that case, find a replacement HID bulb with a higher kelvin rating. If you have an 02- 05 SC430 the size is D2S, if it's an 06- 11 SC430 it's size D4S. I changed mine out to 6000k from the factory 4100k. Adds just a "tad" more blue/violet without it being obvious. 8000k is about the highest you can go if you plan on seeing anything at all at night. The higher the kelvin rating, the less "light" output. More blue=less intensity. And stick with Philips or Osaram as the bulb company...
  23. This thread was last active 7 years ago. You can try google for pictures, since then it's been done a lot.
  24. There's no "OEM" way, like pshing a switch or having the dealer reprogram the car to prevent the DRL's from coming on. Only way i can think is by removing one of the bulbs (but that bulb won't come on during high beam mode) or by installing a simple on/off switch which you could wire into the car. Just find a wire going to any of the DRL bulbs and install a switch. If it's open, the DRL's won't turn. Then if you need the high beams, just close the switch and they'll work.
