  1. Wood and leather steering wheel; NICE. B)
  2. Throwing an HID "kit" into projectors made for halogen bulbs is a terrible idea. Go on eBay and buy a used set of OEM HID headlights for the 06+ IS250/350. They are all interchangeable... Then buy factory bulbs, ensure you have factory ballasts, and do some wiring and presto; you'll have perfect results.
  3. For the 04+ RX's, you need the dealer to program them- you can't "just hold down this" and "pull this 5 times" doing it yourself in the garage like you could with an older Rx300. I guess Lexus caught on to people doing this to save money, so they redesigned the keys. You can simply buy a use remote from ebay and ask the dealer to use their computers to reprogram it to your car. <_<
  4. ebay ebay ebay... Any unit from an 04-09 Rx330/350/400h will work. <_<
  5. Jeesh, my whole point was to say how peppy the Rx400h was... I already know driving like that is insane...
  6. I know we were breaking the law, but what's done it done. And like i said, i don't make a habit of it. <_< It was a fun little rush, it'll suffice for a while. And Rx400h, that 6.7s must be at low battery, because what i felt that night from 75mph+ felt MUCH quicker!! The rx400h really does have an excellent combination of performance and luxury.
  7. Is it in the wood itself? Or the clear acrylic over it? Can you post pics? Never seen or heard of this before... most likely a manufacturing defect. Try to find a used piece on eBay. <_<
  8. How's the quality of the ballasts to the HID bulbs? Most of the aftermarket ballasts that come with HID kits are complete junk...
  9. I was cruising 10 MPH over the speed limit already. Legally, the other guy couldn't pass me, no matter what lane i was in. I didn't owe him anything. We were both breaking the law... He's got "following too closely", "attempting to pass on the right", at least i only have "speeding"...
  10. WOW... First and foremost... IMO it is a real shame that there wasn't a cop nearby to observe your actions and issue you the serious citation you clearly earned. As a very minimum YOU should have immediately yeilded the fast lane to the overtaking car as soon as you noticed it. Then if you wished to RACE it would be between you and the other driver. i was the overtaking car. point of the story...
  11. hahahahaaaaaa I couldn't have put it any better!
  12. Hey guys, Tonight i had a very enjoyable experience with my Rx400h, and i thought i would share! I was driving on the highway, doing around 75mph in the high speed lane, only one on the road. All of a sudden i see a car in my rear-view mirror BOOKING it a couple hundred feet behind me, in my lane; i thought it was a cop since it was driving so fast... But as it got RIGHT ON MY @SS i realized it wasn't (i could tell by the head lights). Then the thing was following me so closely that i couldn't even see its headlights! Of course, naturally i kept going my normal speed, since i was already doing 10mph over, and i felt it was an appropriate speed. But watching him closely in my mirror, he started to pass me on the right. I couldn't resist... i floored the Rx400h right before we were "side to side", and let me tell you, the Rx400h gave me more power than it's ever given me before. This other car couldn't get by me!! Later down the road (with him still having no ability to get by me, and at about 50mph above the speed limit), i slowed down as my exit was coming up. Guess what kind of car it was? One of the 2010+ish Mercedes E-Class sedans. I couldn't tell which "version", but it must have been the smaller engine type, as the driver was trying his damnedest to get by me, but couldn't! Needless to say, i was very impressed with the Rx400h and its impressive passing power. I don't often engage in such inappropriate competitions, but tonight i couldn't resist... Very grateful however he didn't pull out a gun... Anyways!! Just thought you guys would enjoy my story. :P This is one awesomely performing vehicle, ESPECIALLY in overtaking situations. When those electric motors kick in, GOODNIGHT! :o
  13. check this out, but only to the seat heater portion. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62405&st=0&p=400522&hl=+radio%20+removal&fromsearch=1entry400522 yepp, those directions are perfect. Once you've got the panel out from the dash, here's how to remove the switch from the wood panel. I just happen to have one of these on my bookshelf from an older project... To remove the switch, pry this clip with a flathead screwdriver, and pull the switch away a few millimeters Then hold the switch in this position, and pry the other side, again lifting it away' And it's out! :)
  14. Well, having the part numbers won't help much, as most (if not all) sellers will either A: look it up incorrectly, not realizing there are so many versions, or B: not include it. Your best indicators of AFS vs non-AFS versions is to look for the AFS motor itself, and note the color of the lens holder rings on the front side of the projectors. AFS headlights will have this black box (with a white plastic piece behind it) attached to the bottom of the projector. And AFS headlights have "silver metal" lens holder rings. Look at the 1/4inch ring around each projector lens. This holds the lens in place on the projector. non-AFS versions won't have the AFS motor at the bottom of the projector. And non-AFS versions have a "black" lens holder ring. And the one for sale on the link you posted does have AFS (note the silver metal lens holder, and AFS motor on the bottom of the projector (it's encased in white plastic) however the seller doesn't indicate the exact year it was taken from. I'd look for a seller who notes the EXACT year it came from... Not "07-09" or "04-06", but either 07, 08, or 09. Most sellers will give a "range" even thought they haven't the slightest clue what year the part actually came from. <_<
  15. Ha Ha Ha....I wish you wouldn't hold back your feelings...just let it out and tell people what you really think..LOL,LOL.... You crack me up cduluk. Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays! Paul LOL, i'm not exactly closed lipped about anything... :whistles: And yes, Merry Christmas! :)
  16. $3,000 for a new bumper?
  17. try car-part.com it will give you access to inventory of junkyards all over the world.
  18. Haha, I'm sorry but can we laugh at this? "Her" name is supposed to be "Sales02", and she drives a "2009" Rx330... Can spammers at least make an effort to make themselves look real? And as far as Carfax reporting accidents YEARS after they happened, this happened to me with my Rx400h. Checked the carfax at purchase, totally clean. I checked it again a year later and it now reads it "hit an animal" and had to be "towed", in a spot of the timeline that was empty before. There is a disclaimer on Carfax that indicates that info might be late... Kind of defeats the purpose though, don't it?
  19. "...it allows for a higher resolution—Lexus’ best yet—which makes the screen’s content extremely sharp." Well, it'd better, considering it's so freakin' far away from the driver. I'd rather have a smaller screen within arms reach, with touch screen functioning. And what's with the "leather boot" on the shifter? Is this a Toyota Tacoma or a luxury sedan?
  20. Do the headlights still "dance" up and down when you turn the car ON (with the headlights on)? Is the plug to the auto-leveling motor on the headlights in all the way? Sometimes you've gotta press really tight to ensure the plugs are making full contact. <_<
  21. First off, don't even attempt to repair or re-seal your headlight. It ain't gonna happen. I've had extensive experience working with Lexus headlights, and once they leak, no amount of GOOP, silicone, or jesus glue is going to prevent them from producing condensation down the line. Trust me, i've been there... And i'd stay away from aftermarket replacements... Try to look for a used 07-09 Rx350 headlight with your specs (HID with AFS). The headlights for the 07-09 Rx350 models are identical (in size and fitment) to yours except the seals were modified to not cause condensation. If you get a used one, simply install the ballast, bulbs, and you're good to go. <_< Just make sure the one you buy is 100% guaranteed to have come from an 07-09. Sometimes sellers either lie or don't know the year it came from... Three versions of headlights were created fir the 04-09 RX330/350/400h: 1: Projector, HID, Auto-leveling, AFS.......(the version you have) 2: Projector, HID, Auto-leveling, no AFS 3: Reflector, Halogen, no Auto-leveling, no AFS "Theoretically" you "could" install the second version (Projector, HID, Auto-leveling, no AFS) on your car, as the plugs would match up, however you would notice a difference in the projector beam. Although the projectors "look" the same for both type1 and type2 headlights, they are not. The projectors for HID with AFS are MUCH better, both in intensity and width. The projectors for HID without AFS don't have the same "cutoff" pattern (the line between light and dark) and if you had one side headlight with the different projector than the other, you'll notice the difference. One side will be brighter than the other, and the "step" pattern of the cutoff will be different as well. You can get used headlights from an 07-09 (which were re-designed so they wont produce condensation) with your specs for ~$100 each on ebay used. No need to buy new... And for bulbs, they too are on ebay for ~$50 used. DO NOT buy a new bulb for the side that's burned out unless you're replacing the other side bulb too. HID bulbs change color and intensity with age. If you have an old bulb in one side headlight and a new bulb in the other, you'll notice the difference. IMO i would buy either a used bulb to replace the one burned out, or i'd buy two new ones. Ebay sells them new for ~$200/pair. And do you know if both your bulb and ballast are bad? It might just be one or the other... No sense buying both if only one is the problem. <_<
  22. the factory bulbs are Sylvania... And they're not always the best; Sylvania does make a "cheap" version of their bulbs. If you go to a store like Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts, on the shelf you'll find $40 Sylvania bulbs and $20 Sylvania bulbs... There IS a difference. The factory Sylvania bulbs used in the Lexus are the $40 ones...
  23. BMW really copied the 2013 GS with that interior... oh, wait...
  24. Yepp, same as on my old 2003 Rx300, and i did a lot of work with that sensor. I actually wired it into the cabin and put a little control wheel on it, so i could raise and lower the headlights from the drivers seat. See about half way down here, i have pictures of the "control" wheel i put on the sensor in the dash. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3090724/2003-lexus-rx
  25. Believe me, i agree that the GS lacks major qualifications of a sports sedan- that's why i don't think the GS is one. It's a luxury car that just happens to go really, really fast. And the Audi may meet the GS450h's acceleration, but it ain't no luxury car... The interiors of those are comparable to that of Saab, even worse than the 5-Series'. They are meant for performance, not luxury. These are my points exactly. The older gen GS dominated its own niche, of being a luxury car with incredible power. Maybe that wasn't Lexus' intent, but it's the truth. It was the best (and pretty much alone) in its category. And that category isn't "sports sedan". The reason the old gen GS's sold so poorly, is because there isn't much of a market for a car that "looks slow", that "goes fast". People who buy sports cars want them to not only perform well, but LOOK fast and wear a badge that says so. With the 2013's "BMW" appearance, it's clear Lexus is telling the world that they've done it; made a true sports sedan. But bottom line, better handling or not, it's still slower and less "Lexus-like" than last year's gens. It may make the GS a better "sports sedan" in terms of how it handles, but with the loss of "creativity" and "uniqueness" that the previous gens possessed, they've lost my interest completely. Anyone who wants a unique, subtle, luxurious car with tremendous speed is not going to be able to get it in the new GS. Not only will it ride like a stiff BMW, but it looks like one; practically identical. And i can't get over how ridiculous the front end of the new GS looks... Since when did copying Mitsubishi "redefine luxury"? I know i'm probably alone on this, but i appreciated the previous generation GS's for their subtle appearance, luxurious feel, and tremendous power. It was a small niche, but a good one. Still wondering where Lexus' "new image" is supposed to be going... I guess wherever the money does!
