  1. Jaru22 If your starter is just clicking and eventually starts (or not) it may well be the starter contacts. Toyota starters last forever, but the starter contacts wear out. Especially the positive contact. I had this happen at 76,000 miles on my 2001 RX300, and replacing the worn out contacts and plunger solved the problem. At 125,000 miles and still starting strong. Contacts are less than ten dollars and plunger is twenty.
  2. Hello: I tried to PM JPI as he seems to know these codes well. I guess I don't have PM rights yet. I had my RX 300 starter rebuilt yesterday at an ASE mechanic training center. Replaced the contact plates and plunger. Today I have the Check Engine Light as well as the VSC & Trac lights on. I have learned that the VSC & Trac light come on whenever the Check Engine Light comes on. I learned from this forum that Auto Zone tests for free, so had it tested tonight and they came up with code P0505 which points to the IAC, and or vacuum leak. Tried to find any hoses loose as they moved the air filter box to make room to get to the starter. I didn't find any loose hoses. Any other suggestions? I will take it back to the school to have them look at it as well, but was trying to find any obvious things to save the trip. I have learned so much in a short time from this forum. You guys nailed my starter problem, and got it fixed for just the cost of the parts...$20. Thanks in advance for all your help. Fast Jimmy
