  1. You know you jinxed me... My 2007 GS350 has that vibration. It is pretty minor during normal idle but when its cold and the car is idling high it is pretty obnoxious. But yes if I put my hand where you say to, yes I feel the vibration... Also have a little what sounds to me to be like a glass on glass rattle from the front dash too... Well we shall see..
  2. Mine has done this exact same thing, numerous times. I know that the radio is still connected to XM because the song and artist information still appears in the display, and switches as the song switches. So...it is not a signal strength thing. I meant to ask them about it the last time I was in, but I forgot. --Duckman Well at least I am not alone... let me know what you find out... Mine does tha exact same thing too... Strange.
  3. Weird I got the XM installed and the signal been fine, as good as my previously factory installed XM on my Audi... Now I don't really like the presents the way they work. When you 70 music stations and 18 presents you should be able to cycle through them all by just pressing the steering wheel button and not have to jump from SAT1 to SAT2 via the radio. Yes you can press the mode but then you have to cycle through AM, CD, FM1..etc to get back.. I believe that the unit is installed in the trunk so perhaps pull up the trunk floor and look at the antenna connection make sure its not loose. Mine has done a crazy thing only twice. It will for no reason loose the audio and as it does it will fade out slowly then nothing. Turning off the car and turning it back on will get it back, of course you can't do that while driving 55 on the highway... It is almost like there is an optical connection to the radio that gets pinched and when the head unit senses no audio is shuts off the input for SAT. Then when you cycle the car on off it reboots and all is fine..
  4. I would not go as far as calling the 3GS flawed, but its quality and performance does not live up to the pass Lexus standards. The rattles is a major problem in the 3GS design, my 95 Accord use to rattles less than my $50K Lexus. The other issue I have is the suspension, a car that rides as stiff as the GS should handle much better or a car that handles about avergae like the GS should have a softer ride. Take your pick, but somehow Lexus manage to design a stiff suspension that doesnt handle well. Having put over 1200 miles on the vehicle in just a few weeks your points are exactly true!!! But I can get used to the ride and I have the extended warranty with 70,000 more miles to get the rattles fixed... I brought it used I feel bad for the owners that brought new. The first 350s feel more like a Toyota Avalon then a Lexus...
  5. No doubt for an 06 GS300 that is doable actually you should be in I would think the 29-30K range. Just went looking this weekend and saw a 06 GS300 with 38K miles for 32,997 list so yes. GS350 if you find one with about 35K miles and no ML, NAV, or rain wipers... With some hard nose negotiating and depending on how they got the vehicle (trade or auction) you may get into the 34-35 rangeish... But again depends on what they have into the car. Every car is different. The dealer told me that the certification and 100K warranty was about $995 of the price of the car. A small price to pay for 60K more miles under warranty.. Especially if you are buying an off lease auction car...
  6. Well I just purchased a GS350 used. The dealer full cost of the XM upgrade to the radio was $790. I neogotiated it into the deal and they told me that their cost for Lexus to install was around $580. Still did not matter to me that was part and partial to the negotiation. I saw on line that the modules were going for around $295 and you install. So all in all it all seems in line to me. I doubt the install would be that hard, but HEY I did not have to try as I got it already..
  7. HMMM your all scaring me now. I just brought a 2007 GS 350 off lease. Funny thing is that no one every deleted the phone book so today when I bonded my phone I saw all the old numbers. I was tempted to call the previous owners home number and see how they liked the car, but I found this forum so no need to freak them out like that!!!! Anyway I just got rid of a 2006 A4 2.0T. It was fun, has a great german ride for sure. But the issues were killing me!!! I cruised through the 50K coverage about 50K ago. I was up for a timing belt and my third set of tire. The main issue for me was: Coolant leak, not coming from the reservoir or the bleeder tube so that was going to be $$ to fix Miss firing... I had the car back to two Audi dealers 3 times for misfiring in the engine. Initial starts the engine would pulse and stutter for the first 15 minutes. Then after that you could feel it on acceleration in the 2K-3K RPM range while you were shifting it felt like the engine was out of balance. Good luck on the MB. We went the MB route but that was in the 2000 and it was also plagued with Chryslerish issues and the style changes every 2 years that they look out of date quick... Got my fingers crossed for the GS it has 30,000 miles on it now so I was interested in reliability based on my Audi experience. Had the Audi been reliable I would still have it. It is an excellent ride, excellent handling, and great in the Snow.
