  1. The bags did deploy and that has to be part of the happy ending. When you think about what that kind of impact could do with nothing surrounding you - it just amazed us when we crawled out the pass. side and saw the structural integrity of the body from outside!! Rbrick
  2. hi - just bought my second Lexus, a 96 LS 400 w/ 90K. My first one which I only had for 2 months was a 98 LS. It was totalled when a drunk driver broad-sided our driver's side at 55 mph (we were waiting to enter the roadway, and he veered off course) impacting the entire d/s with this front end. My wife was also in the front and our friend was seated behind me. By rights we should have all been either critically injured or killed. The design of that beautiful tank (and God) saved 3 lives that day. I wish Lexus could have taken the wreck to a lab for a case study. The other car was mangled, and the drunk had to be air-lifted to a hospital. We walked away shaken and a little sore, but in tact. I bought the almost identical car to replace it - 2 years older and fewer miles. So finally, my question: The 96 has the same stereo set up, but in the upper "glove box" / cd changer compartment, it is empty. I wish I would have known to remove the cd hardware from my 98. What would I have to do to get a cd player in this car? Is it pre-wired for an after market? I would like to keep the factory head unit if possible. Thanks, R
