  1. appearantly there is a difference with or without a spoiler, definitely news to me ... a nice resource for salvage/junk yard parts i was recently refered to is "car-part.com" and i saw some back glass available in ny state, i'm not from there so don't know how far away it is from you, for around 150 bucks, or go with the previous person who posted. what year is your SC?
  2. The most cost effective place to look is car-part.com There's a huge selection from all over the country but it's mostly from salvage yards. I don't know if you'll get any warranty or guarantee. Plus, there aren't too many '97-'00 SC400's that aren't still on the road. good luck B)
  3. you should go with an apple IPOD. i picked up the 15GB for under $400 including all the extras: leather case, docking station, fm transmitter, remote control, etc. and have already added over 1500 songs. i still have room for 2000 more! it's basically an external harddrive that goes anywhere. i will never be hassled with changing a cd again. the iPod allows you to make infinite playlists and search for music in innumerable ways. it connects with itunes (for mac or pc) and you can rip your entire cd library or download songs that you don't already have into your personal collection. plus, i never have to worry about some f#*% breaking my window to jack it since it's smaller than a palm pilot and goes with me when i leave my car. there's an iPod that holds over 10,000 songs for around $500. that's more song selection than you'll ever need, and much better than paying $10 a month for satellite radio on top of several hundred bucks for a new system. a couple friends have XM and Sirius and I find the commercials to be annoying. even the commercial free stations don't play exactly what you want to hear when you want to hear it. get the best portable music player out there and take control over your entertainment.
  4. Since I posted last, I've figured out where the ATF pan is. Planning to drain it one of these weekends. Any input on whether a new crush washer is essential would be greatly appreciated.
  5. If you take a zero off the price, it MIGHT be a nice parts car. Besides that, it's quite painful to even look at :cries:
  6. In the Chicagoland area we have I-Pass (Illinois Pass) and it's extremely convenient. On a couple of the tollways they've recently added 55mph I-Pass lanes but most of them are 30mph. I've been able to pass through them at 15mph above the posted limit and still have the transponder react, no problem We don't have the luxury of a discount though ;) If they started ticketing I-Pass users through the mail who got to the next toll booths too quicky there'd be a lotta uproar (big-brother ) and they'd make a ton of revenue. The tollway I use most often has a posted speed limit of 55 and last year the local news reported that the AVERAGE speed for that highway is 70. I more than make up for those driving 55 ... I've heard on a toll-road in Florida they issue tickets to drivers who arrive at the pay booth with their toll ticket too soon. Has anyone experienced or heard of that?
  7. 92 sc400 299,000+ miles and counting ... i've been doing as much diy stuff as my limited technical abilities allow. i change my own oil (coventional 5W-30) regularly and have even performed the puddle removal/cloudy headlamp fix on my sc. i would really LOVE to change my transmission fluid myself and have read all over the site about different ATF's and decided to go with Toyota's Type T-IV ... my question is: Where is the drain for the ATF located? I know where the oil pan is but not the ATF pan, can someone please direct me to a diagram, picture, or provide a detailed description? also, how essential is a new crush washer? this site is very informative and an excellent resource for every lexus owner, keep up the great work!
