  1. My 2008 ES350 and now my 16 ES350 both got around 22-23 in town and + or - 30mpg on the road at 75mph! Your ES definitely needs to be checked. Possibly he computer needs to be re-flashed. disconnect the negative cable for a few minutes then reconnect and the computer will have to reset parameters. Warning ..... You might lose radio and seat presets when you do his. Not sure.t
  2. I had a 2008 ES350 with the ultra-luxury package including the Glass Panoramic Roof. Sold it in 2016 and bought a 2016 ES350 with the ultra-luxury package that includes the glass roof. I never had any problem whatsoever with the 2008 and nothing wrong with the new one either. I, personally, love them and have never seen one break or even leak on a Lexus.
  3. Well, "should and could" seem to be two different things! The lights were adjusted way too low when I purchased the ES back in Sept. '15 so, I had the dealership adjust them within a couple of weeks of delivery of the car but, then, they were way too high and I got lots of "flashing to dim them every time I drove it at night! I took it back a second time and they supposedly adjusted them again and were supposed to be "perfectly adjusted" according to them. They are still adjusted too high and I just do not want to take it back to them for it if I can do it myself. By the way, I am not sure what you mean by only having "Startup" leveling on my '08 as they would continually self-adjust" as I drove the car. I am sure of that as it was easy to see it happening. I, also had to adjust these up a little bit (Startup level I guess) and were easy to adjust but, I cannot figure out how the new ones adjust. The '08 also had the lights (HID) that would illuminate the turns and all was great, even when I sold it just before buying the 2016 ES350. The dealership even had me come back to the service bay area when they finished the last adjustment to show me they were supposedly adjusted right! NOPE, still too high I guess on my next service visit (10K oil change) I'll just have to complain again as I still get occasional flashing by oncoming cars.
  4. I've had, both, a 2008UL and now a 2016UL with the Mark Levinson sound system and never had a problem adjusting the sound completely to the rear speakers. There has to be something wrong with the radio and I would have another dealer look at it for sure!
  5. Does anyone know how to adjust the LED headlights on a 2016 ES ? Mine was delivered with the headlights too low for my liking and I had the dealership adjust them. Now they are too high for me and I do not want to have to return to the dealership for this. I was able to easily adjust the HID headlights on my 2008 ES but I just cannot figure out how to adjust them on the 2016! Someone, please help me. Thanks in advance !
  6. You are going to love the new 2016 ES350 and it will be beautiful with those colors!
  7. My ES350 came with them already installed and, frankly, I was unsure of the look until I actually looked at them. My previous ES350, a 2008, did not have them and I loved the slick-side look but I have come around now to the look of the new 2016's with BSM. I live in a densely populated area and have to park n large parking lots so, even if it is only a state-of-mind, I hope the BSM will do its' job and protect my car!
  8. Sounds like you got a great deal! I bought a 2016 Ultra-Luxury packaged ES350 back in Sept. 2015 . Bought one of the first ones to ship to my state and called all over to get a price. MSRP was $49,900.00 and I ended up getting 3k off as the best I could do on a hard-to-find model at that time. Again, you did very well! Congrats P.S. My ES350 is Atomic silver w/ black interior and is beautiful!
  9. That is a very nice trip and one I would like to make soon myself! Your mileage is on par with what I get on the road down here on trips between Houston and San Antonio visiting my Daughter and the family. I usually set the cruise control at about 74mph and get right at 30mpg with the AC on. What speed do you normally travel at to get those figures? Which Natl./ State Park did you enjoy the most? Which drive did you enjoy the most? A little more information about the trip for us jealous ones! My ES350 is also a 2008 UL model and we love it!
  10. Well, the repair has been done and it is perfect looking now. I had to send it back twice before the fit and finish was perfect (they were bringing it to my home for inspection) but they did a great job. Of course, they were very apologetic and were determined to make me happy , but it was frustrating. It took a little over a week. The service manager was directly involved as well as the paint shop manager before it was all finished but it was well done. Also, because I asked for nothing more than my car to be fixed right, the Service Manager told me all the service calls thru and including the 30,000 mile checkup will be free of charge. I guess I will get over it eventually as my ES again, looks new.
  11. Sounds like a good deal to me. Congrats on a fine ride. What color combination did you get?
  12. MGreen66: the clear hood bra I am talking about is actually called "invisi-shield". It is a clear plastic film that just goes up the hood about a foot to protect the leading edge and is also applied to the fender edges and the outside mirrors. From a few feet away you cannot see it and it is mainly a chip protector. My dealer has it put on all the vehicles he sells and, of course, adds that to the price! Mine was stained from pecan tree drippings and had light green splotches on it in a couple of places. The dealer said they will sometimes stain, even from bug juice, but turn clear again in a couple of weeks! Mine did not turn clear again and they are replacing it.
  13. Thanks for the reasoned and intelligent replies gentlemen. My ES was manufactured in April '08 and was one of two with the UL/ML-NAV packages they had when I bought it the first of September. It was there to get the 1000 mile checkup and replace the clear hood bra as it was stained about 3 days after I picked it up and they had agreed to replace it. I will be looking very closely at the fit and finish of the new bumper cover in direct sunlight and will accept nothing but perfection. It has the parking assist sensors in it too and they will have to be matched. Ironically, I just recieved an email from the dealership asking if my service "experience" yesterday was all I expected it to be and they hope it was truly outstanding! I referred the emailer to the service rep that damaged my car to get the answer and , again voiced my displeasure with the "experience" . I will wait and hope for the best! Nothing else really to do. Maybe go work on my Hemicar to help stop thinking about it! Carl
  14. I really wish you hadn''t told me that about your hood! The repainted bumper cover really bugs me too although, the dealer assures me it is with PPG paint like the original and I will not be able to tell. I will be looking at it with a magnifying glass in bright sunlight for flaws, color match and correct seams! Arrrghh!
  15. Yeah, I know about moving on and that is what I will do. Nothing to be done now but wait for the fix and make sure it is right. The dealership assured me they will replace the bumper cover. Just had to vent a little as it helps with my "dealing with it" process. Having to file an insurance claim would have really been a bummer. As I said, the dealership is trying to do the right thing so far.
  16. I just cannot believe it! I took my 2008 UL ES350 in for it's 1000 mile checkup and to have the invisi-shield on the hood replaced (another story) and a service rep, while parallel parking a RX350 behind me hits the corner of my car's rear bumper and put a 4" gouge in it! All the way thru the paint to the rubber and is about a 1/2" wide and 4" long. I was actually standing about 50 ft. away and watched it happen. The rep gets out of the RX350 and says he cut it a little close! I was so mad I was ready to start wailing on the guy and he realized it very quickly! He said "is this your car?"and I replied it damn sure is. Makes me wonder if he would have said anything if I had not seen it happen. Anyway he get all apologetic and says they can fix it as they have the only "certified Lexus body shop" around and I told him the only fix I am interested in is a replacement bumper cover, not a repair and he said that will be done, all the while apologizing profusely. We went to his office and he made a call about the cover and called the manager in and told him what he had done to my car and he was getting it taken care of ASAP. They put me in a loaner RX350 for as long as it takes and said it should be no longer than 3 to 4 days but I am still PO'ed as the car is Tungsten Pearl and I know how hard it is to match silver paint! My car will no longer be factory-put-together perfect either. So far, the dealership is trying to do the right thing ( I keep wondering if that would be true if I had not seen the guy do it! ) and I just worry about the repair being right. Also, will carfax now say my car has been wrecked? Son of a.........! I am still mad!
