  1. Well you would need the rims too, but other then that, not too bad, although they may be a bit small. I'm also looking for winter tires for my GS430, with the 17's I have a good contact for tires, just waiting for them to get back to me, I will let you know what they quote me and perhaps I can grab a set for you as well.
  2. A lot of newer cars have a more complicated way to burp the system, a lot of the times there is a bleeder valve somewhere. I’m not familiar with the 2JZGE engine, but you may want to look into the proper method. The coolant shouldn't boil, that's a sign of air in the system or bad coolant, or a hot spot. Water will almost always boil though, and you said you were running pure water at one point. The only other simple solution is rad cap, I always change the rad cap and the thermostat at the same time. Other then that I would say do a compression test and hope it's not the head gasket. I know the 5MGE and 7MGE were notorious for head gasket failure. Also, is your rad fan coming on? It should come on when the car is parked, if not it can lead to overheating. If the fan is not coming on, then turn on your AC and see if the AC fan forces enough air past the rad to cool the engine. Steve
  3. I also wish there was a sunglass holder, maybe where the garage door opener buttons are. I'm thinking of putting GPS there cause I don't want to lose the stock radio and stock look, sounds kinda dumb, I know, I have just always preferred when a car's interior looks stock.
  4. I never changed it on my Lexus, but on my Toyota it was bolted in, and I broke it trying to pull it out, so just take care.
  5. You can have mine, I'm trying something different in that area. I live in waterloo, but I work in Toronto, I'm there almost every day. This week (up to Thursday) I'm in Chicago, but after that we can arrange to bump into each other.
  6. Thanks guys. I don't know what I’m going to do about the Nav, or the CD changer, I really like the stock radio (mark levinson) and the steering wheel controls. I thought the in-dash double din NAV system would be perfect, cause I don't want it to look aftermarket, I want it to look stock, then I saw a couple and I'm not so sure now, you can definitely tell it's aftermarket. How is the NAV’s stereo? Is it as good as the Mark Levinson? Does the steering wheel controls and the CD changer work with it with no issues?
  7. Ok, I got some pics now. After me and my friend detailed her.
  8. Full tune up is always a good idea. The misfires sounds like it could be the spark plugs. (600rpm sounds about right) Ticking noise is most likely the valves ticking, may be because you are a little low on oil, so do an oil change with your "full tune up". Otherwise they are just getting old and out of spec, I think you can have them 'adjusted' but I believe it's quite expensive. VSC staying on is a sign that there is something wrong with the system, most likely a sensor is bad at one of the wheels, have you had and wheel bearing/ break/ ball joint service lately? If so take it back there and make them fix it (if it came on after they had it).
  9. Fist think I would check would be spark plugs, then vacuum leaks, then timing. What is it idling at? it it's really low you may have to adjust the idle screw (I'm assuming the 2JZGE has one) what is the code it threw? should be stored in the ECU, just check it. Might be something like a bad O2 sensor, or a bad MAP reading, just have a look. I know I'm new here, but I have extensive experience with the 3SGTE (alltrac.net) Steve.
  10. I'm going to agree with mlgs300 on the circuit breaker theory. Sounds like you have too much drag on the window and it's pulling too many amps. The track might be dirty, or the leavers inside the door that lift it up, or even you motor(s) might be on their way out. I agree with lexus that the connections may have been bad, that would also be the fist thing I would have tried. I'm supprised lexus didn't try harder to figure it out, you need to measure the amprage going to the window motor, harder then it sounds, but I would say that's the next step. I just picked up a GS430 and the front windows are much slower then the rears, so I'm thinking I may end up with the same problem as you, good news for you, bad news for me.
  11. Just wanted to say to everyone, I have been prowling the boards for a couple of weeks but didn't want to join until I actually got the new car. It's a black on black 2002 GS430 with the 17" chrome rims. I don't have any pictures of it yet, but I will be detailing it this weekend and posting pics. I can't explain to other people how much I love this car! I was driving a first gen Acura TL, which was ok, and pretty nice car to drive around for $6000.00. Then I got a new job and they wanted me to get a new car (outside sales). I test drove a lot of cars, Accord, 540i, A4, A6, BMW 3series, LS, IS300... anyway, this is by far the nicest of all of them. I have always dreamed of owning a GS, just never thought I would be able to afford one. Any my dreams were not let down by this beauty. Only thing I wish it had was Nav, but the one that had nav was $6000.00 more. I’m going to get one of those Alpine or Pioneer jobbies and put it in the dash, just means I will lose the steering wheel controls. (Does anyone know if the pioneer or alpine unit will control the stock 6-disk player?) I'm frequent on the alltrac.net boards if any of you are ever over there. I thought they were the only nice board around, but you guys seem mature as well, so I think I will be happy here. Steve. 2002 GS430 1990 Celica Alltrac - down but not out (yet) 1996 Acura TL - technically sold, but I still got it for 2 months.
