  1. I've had this code for a while, and narrowed it down to a broke vaccum line on this air box. This box is very expensive. To the tune of $350.00. The problem is one of the vaccum ports broke off, and and the 171 code came on. To those of you that have this code, you have to take the engine cover off to see the broke line. Here you can see where it was broke off. Another trick I guess you can do is JB Weld another port onto it, but I had alreldy ordered a new part before I realized I can do that. So now I am sharing the information. :D
  2. I was thinking possibly battery, but I was unsure as I didn't know how it reacted when the batteries were low. I have a 98 GS400.
  3. My keyless entry is not working properly. I don't hear the beep, and the drivers lock does not lock. It locks when I use the key, but not with the remote. Ocasionially it works fine, and then it does not. What's going on?
  4. So is it not possible to upgrade the Nav systems in the 98-2000 GS to one from a 2001-2004?
  5. What's up everyone! I just took posession of a very clean black 98 GS400 yesterday. This is my very first Lexus, and the price was right. I got the car for $5600, and it has 201K miles on it. I am not afraid of the miles, because the previous owner was a businessman and I was told it was all highway miles. I picked it up from a Toyota dealer who had it on their lot. Funny how you decide to go out and buy a car. There was no plans, I was not researching Lexus cars at all. I was at Tacocabana eating lunch yesterday, and decided to go look. The Toyota dealer happened to be open, and well the rest is history. With that said, what kind of maintenance do I need to be looking to do or watching out for at this kind of miles? The things I plan to take care of today is the cracked winshield, and next week I plan to get the front bumper painted as well as replace a foglight. Here are some pics. What do you think?
  6. I just bought a 98 GS400 with 201,830 miles. I am however worried that I should be thinking of doing a timing belt and waterpump job only because I can't verify when it was done. It is good to see so many GS400's out there with miles way past mine and going strong.
