  1. Or you could really start cheap and go for this one in the Houston area...http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/975601909.html I was thinking about that one for myself
  2. Can a 1995 SC400 ECU/ECM be used in a 1994 LS400? I know they are the same engines, but not sure if I'm comparing Apples to Oranges. If I were to completely swap my SC engine into the LS would that work? Thanks In Advance
  3. My girlfriends 99' RX300 has been doing similar things. Every once in a while, it just doesn't want to start, and after a couple of cranks it will eventually start up...I'm confused as well, because the car has been meticulously maintained
  4. I also use a tape adapter, which cost me $4.97 at Wal-Mart. My CD player is perfectly fine, but I love my iPod.
  5. Thank You for replying, I will try and tackle the job this weekend. I'll let you know how things go
  6. NO! usually the cosmetics aren't that bad, but in this case, they are terrible. The car has all these problems, and what did the guy do? Bought new "clear" headlights...priorities are in shambles. I bought my car for $2200 TTL, and the only problems it has is the front bumber is peeling/fading (common) and the drivers seat is torn. You can do better, you just might have to wait.
  7. Also make sure you don't have a bent/warped rim. Bad tires with uneven wear can also cause vibration at various speeds.
  8. I started feeling a rumbling vibration when accelerating (every so often), and have come to the conclusion I probably need new transmission and motor mounts. This vibration just started, and I'm 100% positive the previous (lazy) owner didn't ever think to change any of the mounts. The car has 158K, and I'm wondering if changing the mounts is a DIY (Do it yourself) job, or does it require advanced mechanical skills? Does anyone have a link or tutorial about this job? Any information would help, including any other thoughts about what this weird vibration could actually be. Thanks in advance.
  9. Same thing happened in my girlfriends RX300. I'm pretty sure she's having it looked at soon, I will post what they find
  10. That engine looks good and very clean. Where did you have the swap done?
  11. You might have Overextended the cables. The lock and inside door latch both deal with those cables
  12. http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp On this website you can compare up to 5 different tire sizes to the original stocks. This should do the trick.
  13. I would look into that rust issue. These cars are known to let water through the trunk, by the CD changer and amp. Make sure it hasn't worked it's way (the rust) all the way from the Changer to the trunk lid.
  14. I was just in Port Aransas, Tx and gas was only $1.65 a gallon. Not to say that it won't go back up, but RIGHT NOW it seems to be a small issue. Just my thoughts :)
  15. The cars Blue Book is much higher than $8900. I believe the car looks almost 100% identical to the 97, 98, and 99 models. So, I wouldn't get too excited that the car is a 2000. Hopefully, you can find out the brake problem.
  16. So, they ended up fixing the stock Nakamichi Audio System?
  17. Lextech.org But they have had mixed reviews...And you have to send the original cluster to them
  18. Have you talked to the dealer? This may be something that could drive down their asking price, or maybe somthing they can fix/look in to. I had a 1992 SC400 and the whole system was mute, and it killed me! I think someone on the forums has a kicker amp, with a kicker CVR Sub, and the results are great. He purchased this off Ebay for about $200. I believe the decision is all on you. As mentioned before, these cars last forever.
  19. I know a guy who has a rear main seal oil leak. He's been driving the car like this for years now. Just make sure you always check your oil level. Come to think of it, I had an old BMW 325i, and it leaked oil from the rear main seal. I drove it for about 6 months, making sure I always kept an adequate amount oil in the engine. Then I sold it, in the same condition, it never caused any problems.
  20. I know there are a couple of good places here in San Antonio, Tx. I was thinking of finding some parts cars for cheap, and fixing them up too.
  21. I've looked through the threads, but my problem seems to be different. When I bought the car about 6 months ago, the owner informed me that I needed to replace something for the heater. I have forgot what he said due to my excitement, and apparently he has a new number. Anyways, my heater works...kinda. It takes a while to get warm, and when I'm not pressing the gas, it becomes a more "Luke Warm" air. I have a parts car, I just need to know what to replace. Many threads say they have NO hot air, but this isn't the case. This weekend is supposed to be in the 30's, so please help before then. Thank You
  22. I believe we are in the same boat! My girlfriend has a 2000 RX300, and I own a 1993 SC400. The SC400 is a great car, and I have never had any problems besides the minor ones Derek mentioned. My car has had a "Salvage" title since 1999 when it had 96,000 miles, and there have never been any problems. The car now has ~158,000 miles. Make sure you "Get on it" when you test drive, because you can see if the transmission has any hesitation, fuel problems. Make sure you get a good history check, and check to see if the car was RE-painted. I ended up getting a great deal on my SC400 and paid $2400 Tax, Title, License. Since I bought it for so cheap, I found a parts car for $500 that I have at my Step-Fathers house. If anything ever goes wrong...That's pretty much my warranty. Although I haven't had to touch it yet!
