  1. 1. Gen3 RX350's handle much better than the Gen1 and Gen2. I have the a Gen 2 04 rx330 and a gen 3 10 rx350. My RX350 handles like a car and is VERY fun to drive on the highway taking corners. I really the gen 3's, more nimble and again tuned for more driver enjoyment. 2. If you get the ultra premium package then the leather is very soft and supple. If not, then the leather is a bit harder. Overall, build quality of the interior is great, but nothing like the gen1 rx300. As time goes by, costs go up and blah blah, so the cars nowadays don't have the same quality interior as the 80's and 90's Toyota out there. But the interior on the new IS and GS is a huge turnaround than previous. I do like the interior of the Gen3 more than the gen2, but still a bit plastic imho. 3. Still cannot adjust regardless what seat you're in when the vehicle moving. Lame!!! 4. Still timed. Hope this helps.
  2. You need the smart key to unlock the wheel. Have smart key in your pocket somewhere, press and hold the brake down, turn the steering wheel a bit, then press the start button and that will unlock the wheel and start the car.
  3. I've heard great things about the yoko's, I think i'll have to try out the bridgestone dueler's though, bridgestone is one of my fav tires :D
  4. So it's not just me that's had probs with the michellin's...interesting. I've heard a lot of good things about the goodyears recently.I've tried out the Toyo summer performance tires on my gen1 IS, and they suck nuts.
  5. Same response here for my gen2 rx. Dealership said the same thing, however attributed this to fuel rails and said there is an upgrade to quite this...but $$$. So I said forget it and have been living with the tick for the past 4+ years now.
  6. Found this on the Gen 2 RX forum: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/71177-michelin-tire-wear/
  7. I've gone through 3 pairs of Michellins: 2 sets on my Gen 2 RX330 1 set on my Gen 3 RX350 I find the Michellins to wear out faster, the tread just also seems to be "less" than other tires? Dunno...maybe just me. Anyway, I've given the Michellins 3 tires now, and I can tell you they are the worst tires I've had - all 3 sets. Don't like them, but my opinion of course. I too am looking for a replacement set, so anything for recommendations would be great for me too.
  8. Where did you buy the anteq from? i have the 2010 RX, unfortuante that my 2006 IS has 2 settings for the TPMS sensors, but the RX only has one.
  9. i prefer oem, but weathertech is really really good.
  10. A lot of the items you have listed, can't be added on afterwards, or at least not for minimal dollar amount. Lexus generally doesn't wire their vehicles like the some of the BMW's. If you're looking to add those on, you may want to sell yours and find one that has those options....that would be the cheapest way to do it imho.
  11. Has anyone done this to their RX? My understanding is that a staggerd setup on an AWD is NOT a good idea as they will lead to possible tranny probs down the road. However, i've been told that if you keep the diameters between the front and back the same or pretty damn close < ~1% difference, then you should be able to run a staggered setup. I'm a fan of the staggered setups especially after taking a good look at the BMW X5's. Anyways, i'm thinking of running the following setup: Front: 235/55/18 - Stock size Rear: 255/50/18 - Wider rear size Difference in diameter? The back will be ~0.5% faster is my understanding. But damn close to the Fronts so this shouldn't cause any issues. Thoughts, ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

  14. I will look into this for you, What is your email ? dmjenks at gmail dot com thanks! Ever get an answer for this? Thanks.
  15. We have had our '04 RX since Apr '03, and have had the ticking noise since then. I reported it a couple times under warranty and was told it is normal and it was not lifters or anything else that was a problem. My wife drives it most of the time, but I think the ticking noise diminishes as the engine gets fully warmed. I wouldn't worry about it. It is an excellent vehicle and very well built with high quality materials. I acutally looked into this. Thought it was the valves and they just needed adjustement. Dealership said it is a well known issue from Lexus, and that it isn't the valves, in fact it is the fuel injectors and the rails. Apparently there is an upgrade kit out there to resolve this, but Lexus of course is charging a significant of money. Price wise i cannot remember how much anymore. But basically, its normal and live it is what they said...unless you want to shell out some money for the ugrade kit.
  16. IMO i don't think the performance package really makes a difference in terms of overall 0-60, speed and power. I think it may help out when taking some fast corners, but then again the RX is goverened at 180KMPH or 112MPH. There is no actual performance increase for the engine itself. Tranmission wise maybe you get a better feel when shifting? But overall....No.
  17. You'll also notice that the performance/sport package comes with the sport shift/tip-tronic shifter too.
  18. By chance were you a former BMW or Honda owner? I bet you talk on your phone, do you hair and makeup while you're driving correct? Lexus dis-engages the ability to work the nav while the vehicle is in motion....this is called a safety feature. Why would they do something that ridiculous? Because they don't want you to crash up such a beautiful vehicle while you're trying to enter the address in for your hairdresser. Personally I like that feature although at times it is bothersome. But in all honesty, I don't want the responsibility knowing that I drove into a bunch of kids crossing the street because I was trying to enter in a location on my nav..... Not sure what your deal is or why you have to be so nasty and assuming! NO I am NOT a former BMW owner and I don't talk on the phone, wear make-up and do my hair in the car! What is behind your nasty comment about driving into a bunch of kids...Who are you and why do you think you can make such nasty comments to someone you don't even know? Grow up and think before you write something nasty that has no relation what so ever to what the issue. Clearly you either can't read or you can't comprehend. Let me make this simple for you.... I read your post. Jist of it, you aren't happy with the navigation update and the fact Lexus locks out their nav system when moving. Next time you'll buy a Honda/Acura becuase they offer that feature. If Lexus doesn't get their stuff together...you are going to walk. Again....my response. What is the big deal about the nav system being disabled when driving? This is called a SAFETY feature. Why do they have SAFETY features? So people like you who drive and like to fiddle with their nav systems can't. Why? Because Lexus thought it was a better idea to have the driver pull over completly, make a full stop and start modifying destinations. This is so the user has to do one of the following: 1. Do what you're supposed to do when driving....PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AND NOT FIDDLE AROUND. or 2. Modify your nav destinations when stopped so there isn't a chance you look away for a second and take something or someone out. Get it? And yes...i did think before I wrote my orignal reply to you. I stopped and thought about how ignorant you are complaining about a safety feature that could potentially save lives...like your own. And after reading what you wrote and thinking about it.....i think YOU need to grow up and pay attention to the road instead of trying to navigate while you drive. I have a BMW as well as 2 Lexus'....all I can say is after being a BMW owner and reading the numerous douchebag posts on the BMW forums....your ignorant attitude fits in the same category as the typical BMW driver. I was reading a post a couple days ago actually on a BMW forum...it was about how ever since this person bought BMW, they've become a much better driver....HAHAHA. It made me think of you!!!!! Sell the Lex and buy a BMW.
  19. i have that exact same problem with my IS. Here is what I have learned. The traction control system in the IS is not a true traction control system. With this said, it means that instead of really controlling the wheel spin/limiting wheel slip and balancing braking, what the IS traction control system does instead is cut power to the engine to slow the vehicle down and keep it from accelerating until both wheels are turning at the same speed essentially or relativiely close. Basically throttle controlled traction control. I have an E46 330Ci with traction control, this system is a true traction control system and not controlled by engine throttle. The system in my E46 really does transfer and control wheel spin without cutting the engine throttle to limit speed until control is regained. I've taken corners in both my IS and E46, same speed same everything...the IS one cuts the engine throttle once it picks up un-even wheel spin, at which time you have to let up on the gas and wait until the wheels are spinning at the same grip and speed. The E46, I can just rip around the corner and keep my foot on the gas and watch the speed go up. but at the same time the light may flash and that means it's controlling the braking and re-distributing power to the tire yet it does not cut throttle so i can keep the speed and power i have to complete the turn. Make sense?
  20. Could be a sign that the bulb is starting to go. Mine is the same way, flickers a bit when heating up...but once heated up my bulb has a pinksih tinge on the one headlight compared to the other side. I changed the bulbs out and problem solved. But yeah, like everyone else said, it's either bulb or ballast. Hopefully the bulb!!!!
  21. It's either your tie rod ends or the lower ball joints.
  22. It's normal. Both my IS and RX at initial startup when cold outside run at revs around 1400-1600 for a minute or so and slowly drop. From what I understand this is due to the cold start valve opening up, correct me if I'm wrong. But it isn't something i'd be concerned about.
