  1. Morning! Tried to use the web site but it didn't work. Has there been a revision? Thanks Wayne
  2. I don't know how you knew this but your a genius. :D Thanks for the help, I have been looking for weeks for that button. Who da thunk that a luxury car maker would put 2 buttons completely out of sight, not make it known in the manual and expect someone like me to find it? (As a note, my battery died and I could not find a way to unlock the doors to open the hood until my wife happened to feel a little slot under the triangle chrome piece on the door handle. Duh, I may have to get a simpler car.) Wayne 07 ES 350
  3. Have a quick question for any 07 ES 350 owners who have had this occur. The AFS OFF light on the dash display came on and I cannot locate anything that will turn the light off. I assume the adaptive front lights will not work with the light on. It is a nice feature that I would like to keep. On page 113 of the manual it shows a button on the lower left bottom of the dash but I'll be danged if I can find it on my ES. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks Wayne 07 ES 350
  4. Yep, I guess your right but since I am a newbie looking at a Lexus, I wanted some input good or bad. The dealer says it is heavily discounted at 24,995 (no navigation no mention of premium packages, etc). When I saw the ad it appeared too good to be true, there just had to be a reason for the price compared to other similar cars. But it just seems high for a base and being it was in a accident. Since it is at a Lexus dealer I don't think they would attempt to sell one with a salvage title. You and Sharp had a good suggestion I may try to follow up on to see if they have the repair bill listing to show what was done. I wonder if they would let me speak to the original owner?
  5. Ran across a 2007 ES 350 with less than 11,000 miles at a Lexus dealer. It is not certified due to being in some sort of accident and repaired by "qualified Lexus repair facility". I have not seen it in person but wanted some opinions before I drive 90+ miles one way. Would being repaired seriously affect the retail price or the saleability of the car? Any idea of what a ball park sales price? I would hate to pay a large amount for a car that is no longer a virgin Thanks Wayne
  6. Hoping to go to the nearest Lexus dealer Saturday and see what they have on the lot. I have seen a number of "certified" cars and wondered if they are that much better than an uncertified one. The certified price seems a lot higher so do you all think it is worth the extra $$$? I have read in the past that if one bought a preowned Cadillac make sure you have or get an extended warranty. Is that something that is needed on a Lexus or, does one just take a chance or, is it not likely to be needed considering Lexus quality?
  7. So has anyone tabulated the results of 8 pages to see what age group owns what?
  8. Thanks for all the replies and the good links. Learned quite a bit about this car. I am still looking for the right car but with this financial mess we are in , me thinks it best to stay on the side line for a little while longer :cries: . Saw some questions about the cupholder, did they ever change it to a better one? I like the looks of the 07 but afraid its beyond me right now. Wayne
  9. Still trying to learn about the Lexus. I was reading a forum on Edmunds and the UL was mentioned in connection with the Lexus cars. Could someone define what the UL is and why it is so great? Thanks Wayne
  10. Went to Woodstock today and drove the es330, surely did perform nicely but the rear bumper was all scratched up and the area around the volume knob on the radio was rubbed off (long finger nails ?) They did not have an LS but did drive an Infinity M35 that was really nice, priced a little too high for me though. On the Deville, right off the top of my head it has heated front and rear seats, a very good Driver Information Center, rear a/c controls, big cupholders front and rear. Were not offering diddely squat (sp?) for the trade on the Deville, but I expected that. I will keep looking for an LS or the right ES. Keeping my fingers crossed that one is out there for me.
  11. Hi Steve I haven't checked out the LS as the nearest one is 40-50 miles away. I looked at the prices and they seem higher than I can swing at this time. We are looking at about $20,000 max with as low mileage as I can find. May go Sunday to Woodstock to see what is on their lot. Hopefully they will have an LS. The ES is nice but it is missing some of the "standard" items on the Deville so sure would(will) miss them. Anyone have any idea as to what the best color is? The photos of the white edition surely is nice. Wayne 01 Deville 01 Monaco Dynasty DP 04 Jeep Liberty
  12. Thanks for all the replies on the CTS vs ES. I am going to look at several this weekend. As of now you all have said the ES is the better choice. Surprisingly some of the comments on the Caddy forum suggested the ES over the CTS. I would like to buy American but after 2 Caddy's with problems, I am not willing to take a third try. I am keeping optimistic that the Lexus I purchase will not cause any problems for a good while. Does any one know of a site where I could see a sales brochure for the 04 ES330 or the 05 ES 330? A dealer called an said he had an 06 available but it may be out of my range. There are a lot of ES cars out there so either they sold a lot or leased a bunch of them and now they are coming off lease. Thanks Wayne On Edit: ONE OTHER QUESTION: Does the ES use premium or regular unleaded gasoline. Seems I read somewhere that the premium was preferred and performance would suffer if using regular. Thanks
  13. SW03ES: I read something about the steering knuckles (?) but didn't expect to hear that a Lexus has rattles :o . I am a little hard of hearing so if it had some I probably wouldn't hear it at all :) . I avoided buying an Infiniti one time because of the timing belt and the expense of having to replace it before damaging the engine. QUOTE(SW03ES @ Sep 8 2008, 11:25 PM) Lexus uses timing belts because they're quieter. Not a big deal, Ive never heard of one failing, and its a maintenance replacement at 90k miles. Not anymore.....they switched to timing chains. Good to hear that they changed. Any idea what year the changed occured? Wayne
  14. Hi, I am new here and drove an ES330 today. It drove and handled very, very good. We currently have an 01 Deville and while it drives and rides just fine, the durability of the car is driving me up a wall (first: water pump; second: cam sensor; third: torque converter sensors; now they tell me the tranny needs to be replaced!) Previous car was an 97 Eldorado that while beautiful was also a repair problem. While I was out today, I looked at the 04 CTS and the 04 ES330. The 330 drives and feels solid with a good ride and good get up and go (like the Deville). The CTS seems to be firmer (more harsh) in drive and ride and less comfortable than the 330 with a little less HP. Could anyone share their thoughts on the 04 ES330 (good things and problems to look for BEFORE purchase). The one thing I have found is the 330 has a (surprise) timing belt. To me that is not on the plus side. I am looking to avoid the same problems I have had with the Caddys. Thanks for any advice you all can give me. Any other rides that fall in the same area as the ES330? Wayne 2001 Cadillac Deville
