  1. Lockpick has nothing to do with Ipod connectivity. It just let's you enter a new Nav destination and use the cellphone via bluetooth (not sure if that is for all models and generations) while the vehicle is moving. 2006 RX has Gen. 4 Nav.
  2. yes, that will work. Screws are 8x20mm (sorry, dunno if that helps in US). This is from the roof rail installation manual: I assume fig. 1 are the plastic covers (however they are stiff and do not bend), fig. 2 are those parts I posted and fig. 3 are probabely some gaskets. I used nylon washers with the screws, maybe some Loctite would also help sealing. The screw holes lead directly into the roof arbor and you don't want any moisture in there. remaining sides of the manual (for those in need in order to understand how to remove the roof rail and especially those pesky plastic covers in fig. 7):
  3. AFAIK Lockpick is a guy and his wife. That's the company. Without them, you'd have nothing. Give'em a chance.
  4. Really wondering how you did that (I did read the thread, just can't imagine how it looks). The solution I currently have is not overwhelming but it does the job. For a really neat solution, the filler should have the same roof top shape as the original molding IMHO: dimensions are width 32mm and height ~10mm Too bad local recyclers here do not have a totalled RX ... I still have the option to order some original molding and cut it to fitting pieces but with s&h it will be over 100 bucks ...
  5. I can't tell you the part numbers but I can tell you how the missing parts look: I have ordered those plastic pieces as well and have the same problem. However I finally decided not to use those plastics yet they did cost me a lot of money. after roof rail removal: I don't like the look of this: However, the thing that really had me worried were the missing screws. The screws from the roof rail are too long, so I had to get stainless screws in order to fill those holes in my roof (thank god it didn't rain) after the roof rack was removed. I'm looking for some rubber moldings similar to the ones already in place adjacent to the gaps. I don't want nothing to stand up there. In the mean time, I have covered them with some thick rubber stripes used to cover carpet gaps in buildings. Anybody interested in the official Installation Manual for the roof rail, PM me with email address (752 KB, pdf).
  6. Ever considered buying different brands of jeans? No, seriously ... I did own several Lexus cars all with ivory leather for the past ten years. I used to wear (major brand) jeans almost all the time, some of them really dark colored and they never ever did rubb off. I suggest using a microfiber cloth and very little water to remove the problem.
  7. I apologize for any false information I may have distributed. that's what I was talking about: This IS an RX400h, check the kW-gauge on the left (funny gear shifter BTW)
  8. Laura, From what I've heard so far: the Vaistech unit is superior by far to the original Lexus iPod adapter. So you made the right choice. Too bad the touch screen functionality seems to be unavailable for my 2006 model. Those are official documents: Ipod Interface Adapter Installation Manual Ipod Integration Kit Owners manual in case those session id links no longer work, the site to find these documents is here: http://techdoc.lexus-europe.com/Aim.aspx?menuitem=3 click: Search AIM and choose: RX400h in the Vehicle dropdown and Accessory Group: IPOD hope this clarifys a few things
  9. Let's not forget about the backup camera, I wouldn't want to go without it. No Nav no backup camera. And since it's a hybrid, it's fun to see the mpg statistics and also generated electricity levels. I love to floor it from time to time but it also became a habit to try to run with low or no fuel consumption. Hard to do without the Nav screen. Stop & Go traffic has never been so relaxing then with the RX400h. SUV style overview, enclosed in your comfortable cockpit sealed from hardly any outside noise, running on battery most of the time and feeling sorry for all the other drivers wasting gas & nerves.
  10. The other thread linked above went totally OT, so I post my info here. I did just that, replaced the old side moldings for the HYBRID ones: I own the 2006 model, got replacement parts for the 2007 model at Sewell from Texas. They are approx. $79 each. Make sure you order the correct color code. Part number is 75076-480x0-A0, where x specifies the side. Promocode "CLUBLEXUS" still works for an extra 15% discount. They come of really easily. Open front door, grab them head-on with your finger tips and tear them off applying well dosed force. Clean the area from remaining tape, dust and dirt and apply the new ones. They fit perfectly and you can't put them on wrong or unlevelled. Takes about 10-15 min. Enjoy.
