Racing The Ls? Don't Forget To Drop $300 Every 5k Miles!
Marklouis replied to Mrgimme's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
A 2002 Accord V6 could easily take on a '90-'94 LS.Keep in mind the current Accord V6 has 271 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque and weighs at least 200-300 pounds less than the LS. ok, i admit i never have driven a 90-94 LS, but i know for sure the 95 and up LS will outrun the accords up to the 06' V6 model. 98 LS and up will give the new Accords a run for the money. also, its according to your racing/passing style too - The New Accords cant hang with the new LS460's. a totally different animal altogether. -
late reply, but that would be thanks to the nice 50/50 wieght ratio these cars have!!

Racing The Ls? Don't Forget To Drop $300 Every 5k Miles!

As a long time DIY kind of guy, The LS is by far the easiest car to "read" as far as basic maintanance and mechanical work goes, not to mention the most reliable! Honda Accord huh...my wife drives an 2002 Acoord EX V6, by far no slow poke, but only 200hp and 175 torque...it cannot handle any year LS. next time....Smoke em. so far, ive taken - anything Honda, even the Civic Si's....please! Haundai Tiburan's are fun to beat!! only 176HP all mazda's cept for the RX-8 and Murai...ill never see one of those in my lifetime! Got smoked by: the new Genesis Most new Mercedes 500 and 700 series...and newest BMW's as well. but i give them a run for thier money anyways! Dont be afraid to push the LS, you wont break it...and the deal with the 5k maintainance schedule is just "guidlines". the Basics is all you need to worry about till its time for the Timing belt change. :D -
i dont doubt that! 10%Nitrogen, 10% ethanol, 10% V-power, 5% water. Now your only getting 65% Gasoline....but hey! better for the "enviroment" right? jus kiddin' viromental folks!

yes! :D enjoy it indeed! no matter if you find one with MLS, NAV, ULTRA, SUPER ULTRA, SEAT MASSAGER, or whatever Badge it may or may not have, they are all awesome Luxury Vehicles. Im shopping for my wife an LS430 as of now, and sometimes you can get a way better deal on the "Standard" LS430's for lack of a NAV and other goodies, cause thats what everyone wants. they are all the same powertrain, bodystyle, and smooth ride. ill travel anywhere in the Southern US to get one! Im really suprised there are as many for sale out there as there is, i figured the drop in gas prices would make these things dissapear fast! i just cant imagine selling my baby either.

yes, with a free carwash to boot! Ethanol??? ...im not going to open that can of worms right now. <_<

Interesting about the Muffler Delete...you guys should Record or Video these modifications, so others can decide if they want to do the same! i admit the LS sounds Bad-A** in the High RPM Range, even with the Mufflers and resonators! B) i havent heard an LS round here with deletion of either parts.

Here is the bottom line fellas...FILLER!! when you buy Maxwell House Coffee, or Foldgers, or even Dog Food...they all have FILLER in them. meaning less "true" product for more money. 90% Gas, %10 Nitrogen is just a marketing scheme as some of you are saying is true. inactive Nitrogen wont hurt the fuel system nor will it improve it....but its super cheap and people buy into the idea!! just look in a can of regular coffee and you will see the off-color product in there - that is just filler. next time you buy an expensive name brand of coffee, a bag of Starbucks for example look at the difference in the texture of the product...big difference! Problem is we can choose what kind of Coffee we want, but we cant choose what Gas goes into our vehicle, we cant see, or chemically compare the product. go figure!

...great Pics SK!! is there any way to change the color of the Halos?? it looks great the way it is...like it was from the factory that way. you have encouraged me to get some RX350 Rims now that you said the turn radius isnt affected much....and the spacers arent thick enough to affect the ride much.

Odometer Reset From 165k To 0 Miles - Help!
Marklouis replied to B.Lee's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
I agree, Have never heard of an ODO resetting itself to 0, Not even trip A&B This is my point!!!!!!! I work at a aftermarket exteneded warr. company and I'm quite handy with cars. I know that mileage doesn't reset to 0. This is was is freaking me out. It obviously wasn't intentional better yet how in the world could it have happened? It has TOTALLY blown my mind. Does anyone know where mileage is stored (i.e. ECU, instrument cluster, etc.). I'm just wondering if there is any way to get it back to the correct mileage? Being this is a one in a million Bizzaro incident....i believe even the Lexus dealership may even tell you your "SOL"....but i would call them just to be sure. it might be an impossibility to ever get it back though. -

"removed and replaced" i would think maybe... -
I bet the insurance guys are lovin' you mulit-vehicle peoples!!! on another note, just took a trip to Burkville,(Newton) TX in the LS, and it did great! the only issue i had was the main vent freezing up due to low Freon in the AC, but no biggie, running the outside air solved that issue. 1800 miles total with an average of 23 MPG w/2 passengers and a full trunk of luggage at 75 mph average. I love to travel in this....747 as someone called the LS. time for Shocks and rod bushings this summer!! by the way, i absolutely LOVE the way Texas builds thier roads, even the backroads were smooth and very well laid out....cant say that for Louisiana and Missippi heading west on I-20 was Awful!!! :(

thanks for the illustration on that J. I prolly had you pulling your hair out!! i guess i just think of fog lights being lowest to the ground for the least reflectivity. but i feel better now knowing i have "fog" lights!!
-
did your check engine light come on? if so i would find a way to get a diagnostics done, whether you rent the tool from an auto parts store or borrow from someone...that should be your first step. Did you just fill up with gas? where there any symptoms before this occurance? The Fuel Filters are a lifetime design, so if you decide to replace it, make certain that is your issue. good luck on the venture!! :)

If you have a multimeter, you can test the resistance of your Spark Plug wires and igntion coils, and see if they are within spec... :)

these rims seems to bend easily if you hit a unforseen pothole or speedbump to hard...i have 2 warped rims on mine, one pretty bad which is the spare now, and the other is barely noticeable...it was pointed out to me when i had my Lifetime balance and rotation done...good excuse to purchase some good upgrades!! RX350 rims like SK has... :)
-
....im talking about the ones that fit in the front skirt silly!!... they are trapezoid-ish in shape?? i've seen em on a silver one like mine the otherday...couldnt tell if they were aftermarket or factory, they just looked brand new. my 95 LS is the very base model you can get - which i dont have to mess with the air-adjust shocks and im glad for that.... :) here is a pic of my ride, and you can tell me if there is "fog" lights anywhere on there!!
-
..guess you got a point <_< ill check it out....i would really like some fog lights too eventually... your car looks really awesome SK!! certainly is a stand-out! ;)
-
A man can dream can he NOT?? I was just wondering if the same setup was available for our 2nd gens is all....cause they should be.... :( (Marvin !Removed! music abruptly stops) better question, how much would one pay if they were available for all Gen LS's!!

Looking For A Tire Recommendation/seafoam Question.
Marklouis replied to Infoseek's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
if you have the budget for the Mich's, go for those - worth the price for the least amount of issues. a good tire on a tighter budget in my opinion, is the General Tire RT's or HP's...i have 15k miles on mine and so far a great tire with a nice tread pattern...just make sure you stick with the scheduled tire roatations. as far as seafoaming goes, to each thier own opinion about this process..there is many threads on this topic. use the search option and read through these threads and you will see different results... if your engine is bone-dry free of leaks, and you have your doubts about seafoam usage after reading the threads, then dont do it. proper removal of hard carbon build up is a tear down and rebuild. regular maintanance pretty much keeps these cars running strong. Happy Lexin! -
one more thing SK, has there been a big sacrifice in turning radius of your lexus with the bigger rims? and what tires do you have on those rims?? i would love to do that setup, but i love my turn radius on my LS. i giggle everytime i see a Lincoln or Caddy pull in a parking spot and have to back out and readjust!!! :D I just whoop mine right in there!
-
That's just se*y......oh yeah.....do i hear Marvin !Removed! music?? how much and will they fit on a 95?? :D
-
thanks for the link blacktop!...will definately tackle this job after i get back from the great state of Texas. I use to work on old Ferrari's all the time SRK!! I WISH!! the shims are available at one o' these parts stores, ive seen them listed before..and the "depressing tool" i can borrow from a Guru Tuner i know. Marishka Hagitay!!

....I really need to inspect mine then, i may have the same problem with my 95'! let us know how it does!!
