  1. I might be late to this, but... I would call the dealership and ask them how much for reprogramming and a replacement key...that's the best way to find out. Also, I would recommend removing your garage door opener code from the car, in case you park outside or something...someone could use the key they find to get into your car and then into your garage/home. Might sound paranoid, but why risk it? .02
  2. The 2011 IS350 AWD doesn't count? :whistles: Enjoy your new ride!
  3. lol...you can have the strawberry ones...i prefer chocolate. :) so corporate said the dealer was definitely in the wrong and was happy to use this as an "education opportunity" for that dealership's staff. i will be having the work done at another dealer in the coming weeks.
  4. the codes are on the sensors themselves...if you didn't note the codes prior to mounting the tires, you will have to take the sensors out (requiring the tires being unmounted) to get that info. i just had my 2nd set of sensors programmed the other day.
  5. yeah, it was unexpected since they perform EXCELLENT service whenever i go there...it's like you are royalty. very surprised. i am never confrontational and am always polite when dealing with people, especially in this type of situation. i also told corporate i was not complaining about the quality of anything they have done...i just want it handled appropriately. heck, i take DONUTS in for the service guys now and then when i show up for maintenance!
  6. didn't see a need to bother with that...i'd rather have the official stance from where it matters first, then talk with the dealer having that info. why let them backtrack? if they would have been honest to begin with, it wouldn't have been an issue. it's business...i'm not there to be their friend or hope they change their story. ;) regardless, i already called lexus customer support and they were extremely helpful...just waiting for them to give me a final update. they immediately said it was ridiculous for a dealer to say they wouldn't do it due to a "safety issue".
  7. i took my IS350 in for an oil change, etc and mentioned the brake dust...the dealer said they would check my VIN against the TSB, etc. no big deal...i already looked it up and knew it qualified. when i went back to pick up the car, the service adviser told me "lexus stopped installing the replacement pads due to extremely poor braking performance." nice. obviously they just don't want to do the work. he further tried to justify it and said "your car does qualify, but it wouldn't be safe...just keep checking back at each oil change to see if lexus will replace them". riiiiiiiiiiiiight. i guess i'll just call corporate and get an official comment from them. there are no other dealers close enough for me to easily drive to for this. sigh. note: my 07 has <5k miles.
  8. to add to the above...as i found out after getting new TPMS with new wheels... the warning does not go off until you drive for something like 20+ minutes. i had the new sensors (still not programmed to my ECU) and it took a few weeks before the sensors were detected as missing...simply because i drive mostly in town for now and had not been on the road long enough to trigger the alarm.
  9. have you modified the vehicle in any way that might add to excessive clutch wear? gone to the track at all? i wouldn't expect a clutch to go out before at least 100k myself...but conditions definitely change the life of these.
  10. my choice was very easy. the only bmw models i like become far too expensive for what i'll pay for a car...affordable or not, it's just too much $$$ for a depreciating item to me. i also got my 350 at nearly $9k off of sticker price (not used...bought it new), which helped a bit too. summary: 1. lexus reliability 2. power/smooth engine 3. beautiful styling 4. ridiculous deal on it at the time
  11. +1...nearly all cars made today (gulp...even domestics! ;) ) can go 300k+ easy...that is assuming: 1. it's not a lemon to begin with 2. proper maintenance is done at all times 3. car is properly cleaned inside/out to protect from rust, etc 4. the owner doesn't beat on it constantly 5. #4 + the owner knows how to properly drive if a manual transmission 6. a little luck :)
  12. reporting back in... eventually the system figured it out and now alarms constantly. lol due to the weather and my short commute to work, it took a while before i drove the car long enough to get the system to report the sensor mismatch. i purchased toyota/lexus TPMS...still haven't had them programmed. i will ask them to do it when i take the car in for the fuel line recall.
  13. props to keeping an older model ride in great condition!
  14. people that don't have problems don't usually post. i would hardly consider a handful...even a dozen complaints on a few sites an accurate representation of the tens of thousands of vehicles sold. sorry you've had issues with your 250. it sounds like you've made up your mind to go domestic...hopefully you find what you're looking for. enjoy! I've read similar assumptions. Your logic is flawed. So, the other 1,000s of posts regarding "problems" are a statistical anomaly? What about the other "people that don't post"???.... so, they don't have any problems with their Lexus?? -- just because they don't post anything?? Judging from and reading hundreds of posts, one can easily assume that "where there's smoke, there's fire". The people posting here about their problems could actually be the "tip of the iceburg". Whether our not there is one complaint or a thousand complaints about the same issue, it doesn't change the fact that the issue is REAL. Out of 10s of thousands of vehicles sold, how many complaints would YOU say would be "an accurate representation"?? It's interesting that the new 2009 IS250 has a "revised suspension and steering geometry"??? well, you definitely have it all figured out. i guess the only issue is how you missed the '1,000s of posts regarding "problems" ' when researching the vehicle before you bought it. if it is indeed a hideous, full blown design flaw affecting the majority of owners prior to the 2009 model, that should have been easy to source out prior to your purchase. again, sorry you're not happy with the car. perhaps you DO have a lemon of sorts...the car is made by humans and that'll happen. buy your Ford or Chevy and enjoy life a bit more.

  16. hehe...i love seeing a well tuned banning process in action. :) sorry...nothing useful to post in this thread, other than being pleased with the mods quick action. kaPOW!
  17. the old set is not near (not even at my house) the vehicle....if it is 20 min of consecutive driving, then that might be it. it's been days, so that must be it. i'll just drive around a bit longer tonight to check. thanks-
  18. so i just got my new wheels and tires installed over the weekend...this included a new set of TPMS sensors. the car has not alarmed about tire pressure, even though these sensors haven't been paired with the ECU yet. i expected the car to alarm at start up, etc due to the new sensors...i even checked to make sure the option was set to the 2nd set and reinitialized it. do they not even alarm until the ECU recognizes the new sensors? thanks-
  19. and every time i see a 250 (not many around my area though...not many IS in general here) i think "at least they had a 6spd option". :) i still say the 350 would be the perfect car if it had AWD and a 6spd.
  20. that's what the 350 is for. ;) cool vid either way...it's interesting to see the tests.
  21. first thing i would check would be the fuse(s)...if there is one dedicated for power steering or not? the manual should detail what each fuse is for. pretty scary though...i would hate to have that happen in traffic or at highway speeds. yikes!
  22. Wow, man I think your right. How did you know that? Heres the camera I was using before: And here is the Canon: You can plainly see the quality differences in the phots. I took the pics of the canon with the Casio, and pics of the Casio with the Canon. See the color and light rendition differences? I had no idea it was like that before. Your right, the Canon is nice! most pics you can tell everything about them by looking at the "exif" data...that is short for exposure information. it's embedded in the pics, unless stripped out. you can see all of the settings used (aperture, shutter speed, exposure mode, etc). the XSi is a great camera...the only drawback with dSLR is lugging them around with a bag full of lenses! :) an example of one of the pics above: [image] Make = Canon Model = Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi Orientation = top/left X Resolution = 72 Y Resolution = 72 Resolution Unit = inch Date Time = 2009-02-22 03:23:05 YCbCr Positioning = co-sited Exif IFD Pointer = Offset: 196 [Camera] Exposure Time = 1/60" F Number = F5.6 Exposure Program = Landscape mode ISO Speed Ratings = 320 Exif Version = Version 2.21 Date Time Original = 2009-02-22 03:23:05 Date Time Digitized = 2009-02-22 03:23:05 Components Configuration = YCbcr Shutter Speed Value = 6 TV Aperture Value = 5 AV Exposure Bias Value = ±0EV Metering Mode = Pattern Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode Focal Length = 61mm Maker Note = 8580 Byte User Comment = Subsec Time = 0.3" Subsec Time Original = 0.3" Subsec Time Digitized = 0.3" Flashpix Version = Version 1.0 Color Space = sRGB Exif Image Width = 4272 Exif Image Height = 2848 Interoperability IFD Pointer = Offset: 9506 Focal Plane X Resolution = 4865.604 Focal Plane Y Resolution = 4876.712 Focal Plane Resolution Unit = inch Custom Rendered = Normal process Exposure Mode = Auto exposure White Balance = Auto white balance Scene Capture Type = Normal
  23. nice pics...you were using a Canon XSi, btw, which is a great camera (i have one...love it!).
  24. out of curiosity, what is so limiting about 142MPH? i'm not trying to sound like an @ss...just curious...but when are you doing such high speed runs and how often? even in europe with "no limit" highways...other than a death wish, why would it limit you?
  25. i was just starting to consider the f-sport springs as well. per federal law, the only warranty that you would be voiding by installing springs would be the springs themselves...maybe other minor things (alignment?), etc...but they can't void much without proof of cause.
