  1. We had the work down at our local foreign car mechanic, Matt's Imports on Whidbey Island, WA, so I suspect it is not an option for you. The replacement rack was an aftermarket rebuild that he recommended instead of the OEM/new part. The car handles great.
  2. I agree with lenore. We have 150K miles on our 2009 RX and it runs great. We did have to replace the front steering rack because of leaking seals (a known problem). but other than that, everything is wearing well.
  3. We have a 2009 RX350 with 150K miles.. just had the steering rack replaced due to leaking. It cost us $593 for the rack and new fluid and $285 for the labor plus $90 for a front end alignment at our local mechanic who does all of our service work. The rest of the car runs great so felt it was a worthwhile investment,. we intend on running this car to 300K miles if we can.
  4. I agree with Jim- get a new mechanic. We've had our 2009 RX for 2 years now (bought it new). Almost no problems... and the few were minor. I will tell you (but your Mom probably already knows this) that Lexus dealers are very expensive. I go to a local Lexus mechanic who charges me 1/3 the cost of similar services from the dealer. However- as in buying any used car.. it's buyer-beware. There are some lemons out there.
  5. Hi Scoop 9,. My bet is on the Sirius installer. Because to install the Sirius interface, he needed to remove the radio & center console panel which have all of the A/C controls. I'm betting he didn't reattach all of the cables correctly. Jon
  6. Hi Tom, I haven't seen them discounted, but I can tell you that I think that they are worth the price. I bought a full set for our '09 RX350 and we swap them in around October and back out to use the regular mats in the Spring (we just did it last weekend). They hold up extrememly well and eliminate any concern about snow/ice/mud damaging yoru carpet or regular mats. In fact, this time, we left the rear rubber matt in, becuase my wife has been purchasing some plants at the local nursery and the mat with its high sides helps keep the dirt/mud/debris contained. I made a simple rack with four spring clamps in my garage to hold the 'standby' mats while the others are in the car. This keeps them up off the floor and out of the way. Sorry this sounds a bit like a commercial, but we really like them. Hope this helps, Jon W. Seattle, WA
  7. Correct- the Nav DVD s licated in the 'trunk'. *but* you can see what version you are running from the main screen.
  8. I have no problem finding it from the glare of the highlights. But no, it isn't lighted.
  9. Hi Anasazi, Even though it doesn't sound like it is coming from the tailgate- I would check the license plate & frame- they can bounce when driving and sound like a rattle. I use small, adhesive backed rubber bumpers onmine, to keep it quiet. Jon
  10. Hi Senin, I am in the same boat as you.. I am 6'-3" and about 210. I fit, but it isn't the most comfortable car I've sat in, and yes, my hair touches the ceiling as well. I found that if I lean the seat back a little bit, I fit a little better. Thankfully it is my wife's car and she drives it most of the time. If it was to be my car, I would have looked for something a bit larger. Jon
  11. Hi ZeeRX350, I can't speak to whatever book your mechanic was looking at, but Lexus recommends that you change the oil at 1,000 miles, at 5,000 miles and then at 5,000 mile intervals. And since Lexus provides the 1,000 mile and the 5,000 mile service at no charge, why wouldn't you? Your mechanic will charge you for it. Also, at the 1,000 mile service, they will program any 'personal setting' changes you request (see your user manual). At the 5,000 mile service, they will inspect the brakes and rotate the tires. Both are good things to do on a regular basis- especially if its free!
  12. I agree with the other posts- get it fixed correctly and by a professional. You will enjoy the car longer and sleep better. Yes, there are Adam-Henry's in the world, move on.
  13. Hi RXinATL, Once you receive the MSDS, can you post it here? Thanks,
  14. Hi RhoXS, I may be able to help you out with this as I do travel on a ferry occasionally. Can you point me to here you found the wiring diagrams?
  15. Hi M.T., I believe that you will have to go to a dealer to get a new key made. I don't believe Lexus makes the key blanks available to a regular key maker/hardware store. And yes, the RX normally comes with (2) master keys and (1) valet key.
  16. Ok, thanks. Well, it was worth a check.
  17. Hi RhoXS, Can you give some more detail about how you were able to get the XM Installation Manual via the Sewell Lexus site- I was not able to find it. Thanks, Jon
  18. Hi, Does anyone know how to get to the setup screens for the RX350 Personalized Settings? I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that they are acessed via the navgation screen...? I'd like to change a few, and would prefer to not go back to the dealer. Jon
  19. Yes- that is the tire pressure monitor. If you have a air pressure guage, check each tire (including the spare) for proper air pressure. Otherwise, visit a local service center (like Les Schwab) to have them check it for you.
