  1. I'm going to have to try this out myself. Last year I purchased a 2003 is300 with about 78k on it. It was an absolute rocket when i first purchased it but due to my family member going to a hospital for a while did a whole bunch of driving. I now have about 110k and am racing to get as much service and maintanance catch up. I did notice though that with time the auto trans felt a little more sloppy so I'm going to have to give this a shot!!!
  2. i've seen as low as 19 but normally about 21-22...btw its an 03
  3. I'm going to have my mechanic check the drive shaft...it always sounds before the weight transfer...
  4. Hi guys and gals. I did a search on this and came up with nothing useful. Maybe you guys can steer me in the right direction... I've noticed that when i step on the gas for example going from 0 to 30 or more percent, I hear a small cluck. It does it the worst when i'm doing about 50 to 55 mph. I have an auto and i thought it was normal but have just been questioning it because no other car i've had does it this badly. Any thoughts on what i should check?
  5. Hi! Go to www.metraonline.com You should be able to find a mounting kit, ant. adaptor and a wiring harness to make sure it'll work in the car. The only thing that i'm not sure of off the top of my head is if the pioneer nav system needs whats call a vehicle speed sensor input. Some of them absolutely need this signal from the car and sometimes the harness will give you that wire. I would say call metra at their tech line and just ask them. Its not too bad of an install for the ones i've seen in person. P.s. I'm used to metra but i'm sure if you look on the website you were looking at they should have similar kits available.
  6. I seen it where the potentiometer can be dirty and can cause issues kind of what your describing. I had an alpine radio that started doing that with the volume knob. I just blew it out with a can of compressed air and it fixed about 97.83425% of the problem :D The other thing you can do is get the part number off the side of the radio and call United Radio based out of New York. They do great work and I use them quite often. Hope this helps!
  7. Wow. Hey smooth1...are the fronts 17 and the rears 18 or am i just running on too little sleep...
  8. They're all slick wheels but I'll have to say that I would choose the ace. BTW; Smooth, of the three you put up, are any of those on your car?
  9. Hi everybody! I've been enjoying the out of my 03 is300 and ran into a dilemma today; So I'm driving down a road doing a measly 50 mph when all of a sudden i feel a small "pep" in the steering wheel. Kind of like when you hit a small crack in the road. I thought nothing of it until i noticed that the wheel really liked to jerk itself left and right if i let go...hmmm. I'm right in front of a shell station so i pulled in to try to find out what was going on. I get out and look and see that my tire is nearly flat. I start filling it up and stop after a couple seconds to check the pressure. Now I'm a car audio guy and when something seems wrong I stop to look at it to better understand whats happening. Thus why I stopped to look at the tire. I kept on getting fatter without air being added. 2+2= :cries: and I start running like a fat kid from and enthusiastic tae-bo instructor. BAM! The sidewall just blew out. <_< I have learned that flying rubber peices hurt and that i have a pure hatred to scissor type jacks but what I haven't found out is how I can fix it. This happened on my front driver's side tire. My front passenger tire has a slow leak from a finishing nail dug into the meat of the tread. Very slow leak but I really want to get it fixed. The tires I have on there right now are yokohama as430 tires with about 60% of meat on them. I was happy with them but my full size spare has some bridgestone potenza something or others. Question is should I take the tire with a nail in it to get fixed at a tire shop for $20 and get another as430 for the front (would the tread difference give me noticable issues) OR should i just go to tirerack.com and get two $125 tires to keep the front ones matching? Thanks again for all you help in advance!
  10. Hi guys and gals. Just wanted to say Hi! I just picked up a 2003 IS300 and have just been astonished by what a nice mixture of performance, class, and luxury this car is. I've had my fair share of cars from two Audi's, an Eclipse, civic, a "sob..." and a couple of others here and there but this one just seems to strike the right note. I made most of the decision on buying the car by the excellent reviews that the car got mixed with the good remarks made here. Thank you all for your help already and I'll post when I start ripping this puppy apart :D
