  1. fairly easy, The side lamps, drop the tailgate. 2 bolts are holding on the side. once out, push the outer edge and the whole side assembly pops out. The ones on the tailgate itself, pop the carpetted cover on the tailgate half way. This will expose a metal cover, unscrew the screw and you will have access to the bulbs. If I where you, I will replace all bulbs on each side. Any good bulbs that are examine good, use it as spares.
  2. I believe the 99 and 00 are rated to pull 6500 lbs MAX!! So with this rating, I would say 5000 lbs dry weight of a trailer will be around the trailer I will pull with your LX. When you start putting the other weight, (water, groceries, camping stuff, accesories, passenger, gear, etc.) you should be around the max wait of 6500 LBS.
  3. can anyone help me out? i'm dying here. Hi, Grinding noise does not sound good. Can it be the pulley tensioner from the belt drive. Or a something else. If it is the valve train, what kind of oil filter are you using on your LX? Some filters do not have a drain back valve like the toyota filters have? this might be causing the noise you are hearing when you start your truck early in the morning from the valve train. Onother cause is the bypass valve is stuck open on your oil pump causing all the oil to drain back to the oil pan. This is know as dry start. Not good. Don't want to cause panic here but I suggest you get it check by the dealer asap. Hope this helps.
  4. i bought a 2003 sanddollar lx470 & it is an older design & for sure has no room under seats & stuff like my 97 tahoe i had before . the mileage is terrible too. but the thing is a beauty to look at & drive. it has a wonderful ride compared to the tahoe & a sequoia i test drove. this is one awesome truck & you dont see many around. i think the reliablility will be excellent too . Im with you here! And if anybody wants to argue about the reliability of LX 470, just compare the lug nut studs of this baby versus any other lexus/toyota or japanese truck out there and you will get the picture how tough this ride is. B) This trucks were built to be beaten!!
  5. Wife has a 99. Manual says premium. Here is what I tell her to do, every other fill up to use premium. Fuel gets mix up that it average out as mid grade 89. No problem and we been doing this for over a year seen we got her ride. B)
  6. No. In comparison to other cars/trucks, that's really not bad at all. It was just that I spent over $2000 over a 2 month period while all this happened. And, like I said, some of it was just maintenance. The good thing that came out of all that was that the replacement for my '94 Land Cruiser was my '97 LX 450. If you really pay attention to your manuals, the service logs go pass 150K. I do not see this on any other manufacturers manual. Do the regular maintenance recommended on you manual and you should be fine.
  7. You need an adapter. I got might from trailite. The connector from the back on the left side. You have to drop the spare to wire.
