  1. Thats nice. The inner lamps are too blue for my choosings, but thats just me :) I would rather get one that matches my HID's, instead of having those dull brown lights. As for the HID fogs, I will definitely get them once Lexus stops raping me for reparing my Blower Controller Hahaha well put. Yes I agree they are a bit too blue for my taste also, but they resemble (deeper blue) what I have now from the previous owners mods.
  2. if u want yellow get the 3k kit dude is selling for 70 bucks. cant beat that although i would make sure its not some POS korean kit If the deal is still around in a month Ill jump on it. As of now Im tied into a bunch if projects b/c I am moving back to New England & life is a little hectic. If I want to do my highs and fogs do I need the complete kit you linked through Ebay? It seems the best way to go as buying the bulbs alone is nearly the same price..from my knowledge..i know you boys have all sorts of trick's N' connects throughout the community.
  3. Regards this is the guy i have used for the last 6 years, you can pick your bulb/temp and its the same price http://myworld.ebay.com/nissangtrpower/ as a matter of fact i bought replacement bulbs from him this morning. (i scrapped my front end and i broke my foglight and bulb) my replacement bulbs were 29.99 for the pair his kits are only 103.99 BUT his shipping is like 41 as everything comes 2nd day aired FROM JAPAN so its not a bad price. 140ish and its at your door from japan in under 3 days http://cgi.ebay.com/XENON-HID-CONVERSION-K...1QQcmdZViewItem Good Looks D.C., Im just waiting out the winter to do all this @ my 60k service. I am still trying to grasp this entire headlight/foglight process. If I replace my fogs will I need an entire kit such as the ones Sakataj linked, or can i just use new bulbs. My housings have no bulbs in them at the moment. Do I need the entire kit to replace any of my high/low beam or can I just use new bulbs since i have factory HID? Again I have one high beam out and need to replace that bulb. my Daytime running lights are much more blue than the low beams and high beams. the bulb itself is blue. Essentially I would like to replace my fogs (4300k?) and since I have to replace one high beam I thought I would just upgrade them both to 6000k or 8000k. I am content with my low beams. I just wish I could detail what my DTRL were changed to by the previous owner so I can get a good match. MR. SYPHER had a lex Ive seen in some threads that looked great. A lot like what I have going on now but his DTRL are much more blue than mine. I am quite a novice here on the subject, so baby steps. Gracias

Because I have factory HID's couldnt I just replace my high beams & fogs w. new bulbs as opposed to the entire kit? I have one High beam out and no bulbs in my fog housings. The inner lamps which house my highs and Daytime running lights burn much more blue than my headlights. I wish i had my f'in camera in working order. I apologize for all these questions. I am still trying to learn about all these options I have when replacing the fogs & high beams. Thanks for the links Brian. You always deliver valued resources. Regards.
  5. HID's WERE an option on the gs300....standard on the gs430. if u have HID'S u have auto leveling.... ALSO HID'S arent measured in wattage....so no mechanic cant tell you wattage. HID'S are measured in kelvin temperature. if they oem i think they are 4300k. just look up your bulb type and temp and replace it yourself. DONT take this to a dealer. i have HIDS factory in my low beams and aftermarket in my highs and fogs. easy to replace Again...thank you for the replies fellas...I plan on parking my car just before Christmas. Around spring time I will need my 60K service @ which time Ill unload and replace my highs & fogs... Regards
  6. According to this link HID's were an option for the '05 GS300. http://www.intellichoice.com/reports/vehic.../Lexus/GS%20300 I can only conclude that because of the auto leveling and intensity that the original owner of my car opted for the HID. Any way I can be certain? Do non HID GS's have headlights that auto level? Now I just need to know what bulb to replace my High Beam w. & I need to put new bulbs in my fogs as they are not currently there! I may just call Lexus w. my VIN and see if they can give me specifics. Regards.
  7. Do you have a daughter or sister I can marry then? Haha. Thanks for the input. I have towed large boats, very often, but like you said this may just be another PITA justifying the extra $60 for a ticket. Regards.
  8. 2005 GS 300. ML package, Factory Nav. Hello, From the searching I have done it is my understanding that 2nd gen GS300's did not have HID options. However I have read a few other things that lead me to believe I do. Unfortunately I bought my car as a trade in and know little about it. It was modified slightly by the previous owner whom Ive had no contact with. (Custom Door panels, aftermarket system -which was removed @ trade in) The reason I ask is my headlights do have the auto leveling feature. So when I turn them on I can see them rise and set into place. They are quite bright white w. a hint of blue. It was my understanding that the auto leveling feature went hand in hand with the HID system. Was this an option on my car? Im sure I read that only the 430's had this option. Previous owner must have changed out the bulbs on my inner two lights as the bulbs are blue (not sure of K) but the high beams look normal. I forget what they are called..I know one of you will wise patrons will know that in a second. One of my high beams is out. Can a mechanic tell what watt bulbs had been replaced with by previous owner...for some reason he stripped the bulbs he put in the fog lights also so I need to get new bulbs for those. I apologize if any of this is vague & for the lack of pics....camera crapped out on me a few wks ago. Regards
  9. Greetings. @ the end of this month I will be relocating from Pittsburgh to Hartford, CT. After that time I will be traveling for a few months before starting work in Hartford. I was hoping to clarify some questions I have about towing my GS behind a Uhaul. While this may be the most cost efficient way for me to have a ride back from Hartford after storing my things, I was not sure about the best way to go about it. When towing these cars can we do so simply by placing the car in neutral, or do you have to disconnect the driveshaft? I would think that I would tow by locking in the front wheels, not rear. Also if I tow my car behind a larger vehicle will the miles still roll onto the GS? Would the car have to be running to record miles? I thought it was clocked through the tranny, but again I am lacking in knowledge here. Should I just quit trying to save a $100.00 and fly back? I can rent the hitch for the car for quite cheap, but I dont see the point of renting it if the Miles will go on my car anyway....in that case I would rather enjoy driving it back. Thank you for clarifying any of this for me. Anyone had experiences w. this? Aside from the normal variables that cause damage this is a safe procedure in terms of wear n tear on the vehicle correct? In the end...I want to do the best thing for my car as it is the most enjoyable car I have yet to own. Thanks for your time!
  10. haha yea Budweiser 500 is right. Between the glorious ages of 21 & 23 I managed to produce some fairly poor decisions (suspended once, then again, then @ random from my home state for not reporting the 2 priors for a grand total of 3 dui's). West Virginia University got the best of me...and coming from the flatlands of Connecticut...i guess I couldn’t handle those winding mountain roads, especially after hitting the bottle. But my premiums reflect my past. Cant wait till those clear up a little. Even a good lawyer couldnt absolve my lack of good judgment. But we live and learn, and are reprimanded until we conform. Just glad I made it out alive & a much less reckless
  11. Spot on with that answer. I have quite a poor record from my College days. Im paying $3200 a year through Progressive for my 2005 GS300. I was quoted nearly $1000 higher for a GS430 from progressive. I contacted many companies for other quotes. Some wouldnt even bother, but every one was substantially higher when I requested the V8 quote. Im not sure if any of that helps you, but in short Yes you will be paying more. How much more depends on your record as was stated above. If you dont mind...why are do you desire the upgrade? More Power? Ever consider building your GS300? It seems like it would be much less of a task than selling your car, finding a GS400/430 you like and all that. Just my 2cents. Goodluck
  12. Hello, Curious what you guys use on your seats to protect/maintain them? Lexus leather products? Armor all? My interior is flawless w. the exception of the drivers side front seat. Obviously this takes the most abuse, and I know other GS start to crack along the outside left of the seat. It seems to slowly be getting worse in my car...at least it is driving me insane. Its too bad these seats do not hold up better. Any suggestions/tips? Anyone had their front seat re-wrapped? Cost?
  13. okay does the car shake while your applying the brakes? OR does it shake when you hit 70MPH? if your car is shaking while driving then your tires are out of balance...atleast thats the main cause of tire shaking. if your car shakes while applying the brakes..then yes its your rotors and yes they are warped. either machine them or buy new rotors. Cross/drilled rotors would be nice. might as well as change your brake pads while your at it. hope this helps take care. A search of the site will provide you with hours of reading on this subject. This is a notorious nuisance with 2nd gen GS's. The Wheel Shake/Shimmy often occurs between 60-80 mph. For me it is at its worst 65-75 mph. You can try the balance but I doubt that will solve your problem in total...if at all. Previous posts have different approaches to remedying the problem. Im not sure if there has been a 100% cure found. I just live with it at the moment. I kinda accept that it will always be there, Im just hoping the severity of the shimmy decreases when I upgrade my tires from what came on the car when I purchased it (Nankang) to something a little better made.
  14. Couldnt agree more .....there will be something that requires $$ to fix coming, also are you going to drive this into the ground? I know its a lexus and will run and run and run, and 165,000 miles on this car is not the same as 165K on a Pontiac, but at some point you have to consider how cost effective it is to put $2K into a car you may sell in a year or two. Maybe fresh paint? Good luck w. it. Let us see whatever mods you do decide on. You could order some Escorts to drive around w. you for the weekend and make the car look really HOT haha
  15. -I still lack an owners manual and just put two and two together. The indicator light for bulb failure...is it green, a circle w. little dashes coming off it? This comes on when I turn my lights on...and I know I have a High beam out...so based on your post above thats what it is telling me? :P
  16. Im with them buddy. Djspawn is right on w. the spend a little, get a lot quote. You bought a lexus, not a taurus, just wait it out a few months till your budget can expand a little. When I bought my car the previous owner removed all his aftermarket audio leaving me with 4 speakers pushing high's and no sub at all. Ive owned the car for a 4 months now and had a cheap audio upgrade all in the works. I took what I was thinking and presented it to a reputable car audio guy who really just broke it down for me and told me the best thing to do in the long run would be wait a while longer and purchase some quality eqip. Soo i am hoping to make moves in another month, but Im glad that when I do go through w. it at least it will be worth the investment....like my lexus Personally I would love to replace everything w. JL products, but just can not justify the cost. However as these boys are saying you dont have to break the bank, just do some research. I found that Memphis Audio makes some great products at a very afforable price. Not to say that is your only option, just what appeals to me. But really for a little more money you can get a much better class of speakers. As for keeping you stock unit, if you work w. certain brands (JL, Memphis, Alpine ect..) you can buy a clean sweep which uses your stock stereo but allows aftermarket output through the clean sweep. They are kinda expensive though depending on which direction you go and at times Ive found aftermarket head units to be more price friendly.....I am going with a clean sweep simply to keep my stock Navi. Hope some of this helps.
  17. Thanks for the clarification. Would it be appropriate to use the dish soap right before waxing if all I am going to do is apply is a standard wax after?
  18. I was always told NEVER to wash my car / boat / ect. w. dish detergent as suggested above. Am I simply misinformed or is it harmful? Do many of you use dish soap over a car wash liquid? Regards.
  19. Thanks, you make some solid points there. I never planned on taking the car to that Chevy dealer. That is where i bought the car used in N.Y. City. I currently live in Pittsburgh. A LOC member referred me to an independent Lex mechanic in the area so I plan to take it there when needed. I am still 1500 miles away from 55K but I just wanted to get some opinions. Has anyone else heard that the "Head Mechanic" at any Toyota dealer is required to be certified to work on Lexus? A co-worker w. an LS 400 told me that last night. He said he has his maintenance done at Toyota dealership but requests the Head Mechanic for that reason. Anyone else ever heard /known that? Again good looks w. the replies. Regards.
  20. Thanks for the reply. My apologies. Should have taken the time. Purchased the car used & it came w. no manual. I did order one but it is back in Connecticut where I am originally from & will eventually move back to. I feel the same. My car does not take much abuse at all. I like to do things the right way, but i agree....some of these things sound like an overkill. Ill stick to oil change & tire rotation until my 60k maintenance. Unless there are other suggestions? Thanks for your time.
