It seems to be coming from the rear axle area. However if I shift to 3rd instead of overdrive the noise is almost gone. I thought maybe the trans but that of course is further up front. I don't understand why the noise goes away in 3rd. but loud when in overdrive. The noise can be heard whenever you take your foot off the accelerator....even if for 2 seconds.

I just bought this Ls 400 and it had rear end noise. Bought new tires...noise gone. Now that it is quiet I can hear a whine upon deceleration. Any help? Thanks.
