  1. Hi, bought 4 last year. 3 are from Japan, one from Mexico. I didn't notice the difference in manufacture source until much later, but except from minor sidewall stamping differences, I sure can't tell anything on the tread. I only have about 10000 miles on them but I love them. I don't think I'd recognize any problem Japan vs Mexico unless the Mexican one blows without provocation in the future. Anyway, I am much happier with these than the original Michelins on our 05 RX330.
  2. ShamWow... Sorry, couldn't resist. Wet/dry vac, then with all the doors & windows open, a large fan, preferably heated, and let it run for a few hours. Do you have access to those large volume fans used to dry floors etc? That's what I had to use in the past for large spills, although you may have more liquid than a couple of big gulps. Good luck. I didn't have the know-how to unfasten all the trim to remove carpet etc, so I used the above as a decent workaround. However, I live in the desert and things dry out fairly nicely with a little heated air that's moving. Good luck.
  3. There have been other posts about this too. I have seen 3 issues: struts as the other poster said, motor, body ecu. Our issue occurs only when it gets above 100 F degrees, and the car was parked in the sun for a few hours. Is yours always reproducible? What year vehicle? To date we haven't been able to solve ours because it is too intermittent. 05 330. You may have better luck but search the forum for lots of info (and CL forum too) Regards
  4. cfiiman, I don't know if I'm having deja vu or something, but was this topic on another thread about a recently acquired RX300 and the dealer had promised you a new master key? If so, given what I just read earlier on this thread, was the dealer going to charge you for the computer swap? or were they going to honor the verbal agreement. Anyways, I'm glad it was finally sorted out. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then I'm sorry but I've got this thread completely confused with something else. Regards
  5. How pushed in is it? If the styrofoam or bumper frame isn't damaged, you can pop the plastic out yourself but do it fast...the longer you let the plastic sit crinkled, the harder it is to pull out and come out smooth. I did this to a ES300 rear bumper with good success. Had hairline cracks in the paint but it didn't flake after 3 years. One caveat is that the ES300 sits in Orange Co Calif, very mild steady temps.
  6. HOw's that 303 stuff with dust...does it attract it like Armorall?
  7. Interior looks CLEAN! Curious as to what body damage you were referring to. Didn't see any on the outside pic, but it was dark
  8. Glad you and your SO are not seriously injured. Looked like the right (passenger) bumper, hood and probably light assembly is out....is this a dealer quote? Just curious. Your incident reminds us of why we got a used RX330...the thing even has a knee airbag. Did the airbags deploy? Regards
  9. Congrats! You are right in that people usually post only if there is a problem (myself included) but there have been other posts from people who are quite happy with their Rx300 up to 200K miles and beyond. Hope your damage is easily fixable. FWIW, I lurk on the GMC forums (have an older Yukon) and you wouldn't believe how many issues are there. RX is MUCH better from a reliability standpoint based on forum posts. Have you posted any pics of the damage? Just a nosy DIY'er. Regards
  10. There have been previous threads about AWD and having different tires on different axles etc. No one knows for sure (at least that I've seen on the forums) what the acceptable difference in wear is, but the tire dealer (independent not Lexus) strongly thought that 2/32 inch difference between the axles would be fine. Brand new tires on the fronts and 40K mile tires on the rear may get into some problems, theoretically, with the viscous coupling unit detecting different rates of spin and therefore acting on it (as in heating up). I can't remember which thread had this, but someone had explained it in a bit more detail than I can. Yes, this is my first AWD too, and I'm learning as I go. It's far superior than the "AWD" function on my Tahoe, but the Tahoe's is switchable and the Lexus is full time. Regards
  11. I went through the same scenario recently. Are the new and spare tires of the same make and model? They should be the same tread pattern for AWD. Also, 12K miles isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but what matters more I think is driving habits, and resultant tread depth (or lack thereof). A tire guy told me that 2/32 inch difference would be OK on an AWD (between your new and old tires), and for normal driving habits and terrain, one would think 12-15K mi worth of wear depth is about that, and would be acceptable per your plan. Just for grins, we get ours rotated every 7500 mi, and had the front vs rear tread depths nearly 4/32 difference...came from the dealer that way (CPO) on our 05 RX AWD. Just recently replaced all 4 as one tire started showing it's belt, now we're at all even tread depth and want to keep it that way with every 7500 rotations. Just OC I guess. My $0.02. Regards
  12. Can't comment on the power lumbar issue...hope it's an easy fix. Neither of our RX drivers fiddles with the lumbar support setting, so I really don't know if ours works either! The memory seat function for 2 drivers is very handy otherwise. Regarding ebay keys...there were a few posts on that topic on this or the other (CL) forum, I can't remember which. Some people, depending on their dealership, got a master key off of ebay, then got it programmed at their dealer for cheap, but others as I recall were not so lucky....caveat emptor. Regards
  13. Is this a CPO car? Just curious. We have an 05 RX330 AWD bought CPO. However, the a/c compressor was replaced during the first week of our ownership due to a funny whine at around 1400 rpm...very reproducible, and think is a tsb issue. Also had the tranny replaced at 60k miles, and that started out as some funny high pitched whine, like a turbo, every time accelerated. Another thing I would look at is the a/c condensor, and you can find some recent posts about this on this forum (looking for physical damage ie rock hits). Lastly, make sure the rear hatch opens and closes using the power feature. Those of the problems we have seen and read about mainly. Hope this helps.
  14. I too run the tires (now Bridgestone Alenzas) at 35 psi cold (replaced Michelin MXV4's this past week). I like to have a little more road feel than what 30 psi gave.. Although our Lexus is unlikely to repeat the Ford Explorer/Firestone disaster, I have taken those lessons to heart and always keep tire pressure slightly above the car placard but always below tire max. These Bridgestones have some ridiculous 51 psi max rating. My 2 pesos
  15. Hi lenore. Thanks for the post. I'm curious if the torn pieces were able to be placed back together without a gap? I have a tear but a small, perhaps 1/8 inch square piece of vinyl is missing. Based on your now expert experience, will this kit fill in a small gap? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but just don't know how much of a repair that kit can do. Thanks for any insight, regards
  16. Hi. I have same 05 RX330 AWD. All around driving is about 19 mpg for us, but on long trips up to 24 mpg if stay below 85 mph and little head wind. Regards
  17. 05 rx 330 bought as CPO with 40000 miles on it, now we have 65k miles. During that time, had transmission replaced (had whining noise on accel and was diagnosed as tranny failure) Since then the transmission shifts great! no hesitation like it had before, downshifts nicely with a tap of the accelerator for passing. Also had part of exhaust system changed (sulfur smell ) including cat converter. Had A/C worked on (compressor replaced?) as it whined at 1400 rpm, very noticeable (I think tsb on it) Current problem is rear hatch sometimes doesn't come up...but intermittent of course and never when at the dealership. All repairs covered under warranty with loaner vehicle. Service has been good to us, and despite the problems, I'd have to say the car is nice. We will keep it for awhile. Now my wife's favorite car...first luxury car we've owned with nav/camera etc so it's spoiled her. Semper Fi pickupmanx2
  18. Someone told me this transmission is sealed ie can't take it apart to service the defect. It it's broke, the whole transmission gets replaced. At least that's what happened to my 05 rx330 tranny (AWD). My transfer case was OK if I remember correctly. Whether an independent shop can get one for cheaper, don't know.
