  1. UPDATE: Hi all! My plans have changed a bit since my last posts 6 months ago. I ended up buying some L-Tuned / TRD goodies from Darrel Diller @ Sewell Lexus. I've been driving on the L-tuned 17" OZ Superturismos with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, very smooth setup. I also purchased the L-Tuned Aerokit (grill / sideskirts) painted from l-tuned factory. I have not installed TRD front strut tower bar because i'm buying Tein CS suspension this week *anybody that knows cheapest place to get Tein please email me @ jclarkTT@yahoo.com* Same goes for Rotora 4 piston front BBK, i know a few places must be clearancing them out for 6F/4R setups..or someone selling used to upgrade to 6F/4R piston !! I don't think my 17" ltuned wheels will clear the BBKs, though but my 18s sure will since they are made for Supra TTs.. I still haven't installed the HID headlights, only because i was researching the possibility of a "go between" harness that would keep me from having to hack up my GS's wiring.. I'm looking for the best place to buy Polarg bulbs. i need about 10-20 sets, assorted. i want to redo all interior/exterior bulb on GS300 (including amber for taillights/sidemarkers since they will be cleared out), as well as most bulbs on my civic hatchback.
  2. Hella 4" Optilux angel eyes work well, though i'm not fond of angel eye types. i know there is a full HID round kit that is offered, but i can't track down the post where it was discussed...
  3. how are things coming along :D ?? if you guys finish it, will y'all be doing the swap for customers??
  4. Thank you! i had seen that link months back, but couldn't remember where i had found it! I would much rather heat than cut, but i will give the cutting a try this weekend. I really like the 98-00 taillights cleared out...though i've been fighting back the urge to just upgrade to 2001+.. <_<
  5. rgr, mrsypher is worth his weight in platinum...and he frequents this site..but clublexus seems to have more traffic on gs's..
  6. many people "chrome out" the grill, it's black painted from the factory, and you can remove that paint with paint thinner/etc and it'll be chrome. That only cost a few bucks and some bi$chwork. Clear sidemarkers, new hyper white bulbs (inside/out), lowered supsension, all will help the overall look of a gs. check out the L-tuned grill and sideskirts, i got those for my black GS and the simple sideskirts added a very sport look to the sides of mine :)
  7. many people upgrade their 98-00 taillights for 01-04s..Darrel Diller @ Sewell Lexus in dallas sells them BRAND NEW for under $300..plus it's from a LEXUS DEALERSHIP! so you know it real/warrantied. He has GREAT SHIPPING PRICES TOO!! his site is lexusparts.com or just call sewell lexus and ask for him in parts department! he has all kinds of L-Tuned and TRD Goodies REALLY chEAP right now..and he can definitely upgrade those old taillights. BTW, if you do upgrade, sell me your 98-00s :) :) :) oh, and tell him you are on lexus owners club..he will give 10% discount on parts (plus, tell him Joe from Austin sent ya :) )
  8. Hi all! I'm going to try clearing out the amber in my taillights this week, but i was looking for a few pointers, maybe even a link to a DIY manual if possible :D I've heard of people cutting, but i've also heard of people heating the plastic with heatgun and pulling back. Thanks for all the help with my project!
  9. Yes, i've had the l-tuned wheels for a few weeks now. They are super smooth :o the L-tuned dynamic balance (with michelin pilot sport tires), is worth the money alone. I've taken her over 120 without any wheel vibration. They look really nice, though i would rather be rocking the 18s wheel whores unite! I will try to post pix, but the weather has been nasty and they have been doing construction on my street for past 2 weeks, i don't get 'er out much. I bought the TRD F STB as well, though i need to install it myself. I had no problem taking off the bolts (6) but they bolts didn't seem to align to fit. I'm guessing i just needed to "Flex" my suspension in more, but i wanted to confirm that i was sent the right brace ;)
  10. the tradeoff to less back pressure is LESS low end power, but you will make up for it in top end. Sux for daily driving, i noticed same thing in a few different vehicles, including a 4 cylinder ford ranger. You will also lose gas mileage, though both Intake kits and exhaust systems advertise the opposite
  11. i've had all three, 16" stock wheels, 17" L-Tuned Wheels, and 18" Staggered, fat lipped wheels. You will lose precise luxury ride with the 18s, and even the 17s feel as if there is degradation of quality. But, it could be tires, front shocks, weakened stabilizer, etc.etc. but, all things being the same, i think you will lose ride quality with bigger wheels.
  12. yes, MR. JPImports, then you can help me finish mine. I will be by the shop later today after i get my GS3 out of Sewell Lexus :D
  13. hmm..i will have to ask about these, since I will be intalling Coilovers sometime soon, anyway. my vibration is not that bad, and only @65-70 mph (bad cruising spot).
  14. I will post pictures when i pick up GS300 from Sewell Lexus tomorrow. I went ahead and bought the L-Tuned Grill and Sideskirts, 17" l-Tuned wheels (OZ Superturismos w/ Michelin Pilot Sport tires), tint, full Polish/Wax (my onyx black needed a pro's touch), inspection, and miscellaneous stuff. I will pick it up tomorrow, but these are the pieces that he offers, all from TRD. TRD Front Member Brace TRD Front Strut Brace TRD Front Sway/Stabilizer TRD Rear Member Brace TRDRear Sway Bar/Stabilizer L-tuned springs/shocks L-tuned Steering ECU I will probably pass on l-tuned shocks/springs, since i want adjustable height and dampening (probably Tein CS), but a bit stiffer, flatter steering through turns would be nice. what would you guys suggest? front strut brace (for looks :P ) I still haven't installed the HID headlights, but my intentions are good. I really want to remove the amber from my 99 tail lights, does anyone know a great way to do it without cutting? like heating and pulling apart plastic?
  15. what is the name of this lexus dealership SO EVERYONE CAN AVOID IT?!
  16. My 99 GS300 has a bit of the same problem every now and then. I think my 18s are the brunt of the problem. I'm planning on switching back to my stock wheels for a few weeks to see the difference. i can't imagine 20"+ wheel rattle....
  17. it's not plug and play, it takes a bit of splicing to do the swap. Retrofitting a 9006 based / Xenon bulb into your stock halogen projectors is the road most people take. You can get HID headlights (housings, ballasts, bulbs, and all), but you will have to drop your front bumper to remove housings and you will stil have to splice wiring, but you will probably get a bit less glare from Xenon housings..
  18. YEAH!! ANYONE INTERESTED In L-tuned parts should checkout ebay right now. ebay username: itsallaboutyourlexus (Dallas Sewell Lexus - Mr. Diller). He's having an AWESOME sale on l-tuned. I was going to just buy the 17" L-tuned whels/tires package, but now i will probably be buying the Ltuned grill and side skirts from him as well :) I haven't got a price on the front and rear bumpers, though, i may just try the explosion front/rear, but i'm worried about both fitment and if it will look right with the ltuned sides.. my car modding addiction is back with a vengeance.
  19. thanks mr sypher..but i don't think showing off a civic race and home computers are going to stun anyone in here! :o they are just my present time consumers, errr hobbies. Anyway, I'm going to buy a lexus gs manual to get a closer look at all the little parts i will need to finish swap.
  20. Well, I got my bulbs/ballast in the mail today...what can i say.. BRAND NEW OEM LEXUS bulbs!!!! i swear the ballasts are brand new as well!! $112 off ebay, i watched about 10 pass by for $160-150 for the last few months.. anyway, just letting you guys know, i've gotta track down the random parts i will need (little o-rings, etc.) I'm wanting to put a wiring harness on the end of my HIDs, so that i don't have to splice anything on the harness (car side).. that way if i ever sell the car i can swap the stock halogens back in and there will be no splices in wiring.. IS THIS POSSIBLE? i've got the diagrams, but i'm having problems interpreting the jumble, especially off of a scanned-photocopy :( THANKS GUYS! i missed the houston meet!! works sucks, but I can't afford to take off work with all the mods. I'm just finishing my civic project, i will be auto-x'ing in the Texas Honda Challenge very soon, now...217 whp, 4.44 FD gearing, and 2009 lbs without me (i'm 130 lbs), i shouldn't have a problem keeping up (oh and a 50 shot of NOS for the 1320') anyway, i've got more projects going than i can even keep in my head, i just got a new 64-BIT gaming computer yesterday and i haven't even loaded windows, yet :P It's very fast, and makes my 2 x 2.4ghz systems (with over gig of PC2700 ram each) seem outdated. For all you computer geeks out there that are into cool looking cases, check out the Guardian cases from NZXT Guardian cases!!! they are AMAZING! and you can buy them for $30 off of www.pricewatch.com from a certain seller.. i didn't buy mine from him, but i'm buying a second one to reoutfit my other systems. The cooling fans and cool lights alone are worth it, but the front panel has a futuristic-medievel knights helmet look going for it, and in many color varieties..ok, gotta stop rambling about other projects now...too much to do!!! Anyway, i will be around here a lot this week, so expect a lot of questions for my reassurance :)
  21. Nice to hear some are pioneering into the TT swap for the JZS161! maybe in a few years for me :)
  22. doh! no entry for Lexus brand Leather cleaner/conditioner! :)
  23. Yup, I'm loving the Yoko AVS DB S2 AllSeason. Extremely quiet and soft ride. Though, I haven't tested the traction (wet or dry), but they are supposed to be really good. :D
  24. Polarg M4s look great, especially next to stock or 6000K hid. I got a pair of Sylvania Silverstars for high beam bulbs. they were $35 a pair at Advanced Auto Parts on sale. They look very nice, PIAA And Razo were much more expensive but I don't think it'll make a difference since I rarely use high beams.
  25. I went with the Yokohama DB S2s for my GS300. 18x8.5F 18x9.5R wheels. 245/40/ZR18 F 275/35/ZR18 R tires. I haven't driven enough miles to test traction, but they are EXTREMELY QUIET and give a very smooth, soft ride for 18s.
