  1. My wife's 2000 Rx 300 is up for the first timing belt change and I was told to replace the idler and water pump at the same time. Is that necessary or just a waste of money? Thanks in advance for your input, Fred
  2. Are you still looking? I just sold my 2000 RX300 for a 400H and want to sell mine! Do you still have the 2000 RX 300 manuals? Fred
  3. My wife's RX 300 did the same thing had Goodyear integrity tires. shook at 70 to 75 MPH belt separarted. Your tire store can check for belt separation as well as tire and wheel balancing. Good Luck Fred
  4. Where are you located? There are guys doing mobile spot repair and are lots cheaper than body shops, but you have to be careful they are not all good at it.
  5. How many miles on the car? It could be the constant velocity joints. Fred
  6. I was going to change my transmission fluid- filter and the guy in the parts dept. at the Lexus dealership told me there was only a screen filter and that their service department hardly ever changed them, just cleaned them.
  7. Hello, Since you had a bad gasket where you indicated I think I would have the Cat. convertor checked at a muffler shop. My son just had a problem like yours with a Dodge and his convertor was clogged up. Hopefully this will help.
  8. If you have an Autozone in your area go ask them if they would do the diagnostic check and find out what code it reads then you can better identify the problem. Autozone does not charge to do the test. Fred
  9. SK PERFORMANCE, Would you send me the info on installing the external transmission filter? Where to locate on the car, where to purchase. I am interested in doing this to my wife's 2000 RX300. Fred
  10. I hope you have extended warranty. My 2000 RX300 did the same thing with 53000 miles I took it to the Lexus dealer and it was covered under warranty. The service tech told me it would be 1100.00 to replace the seal if I had to pay for it myself. Good Luck!! Fred
  11. Same thing with my 2000 RX300. Thought the thing was coming unglued.
  12. Hello, I recently had a po171 code and posted to the list. A good member advised me of the same problem and suggested I take my 300 to the dealer that his was covered under the extended warranty. I did and it was covered. What they replaced was the Mass Flow Sensor. I had less than 50,000 miles and barely got in on the yearly time. The maf is located behind the air filter box, easy to get to. Hope this helps! 2bears
  13. Terry, Slid under the front of the rx300,you will see a splash shield, remove the shield and you will have access to the oil filter on the side of the engine. easier to remove from underneath.
  14. :D Thanks dgorrie, Carried my Rx300 to the dealer and the po171 code was fixed by replacing the maf sensor as you suggested. Warranty covered it. Thanks!
