  1. I called a Lexus dealership and they quoted me $110+ for a heater control valve for my 1994 LS400. Does anyone know if Toyota has the equivalant part in one of their cars? Thanks. -Reid
  2. Thank you for the quick reply. I am looking for a remote master key, but don't need the chip since I have a remote that works that I can use to program the other key. Do I have any other options or do all blank remote keys cost $200? -Reid
  3. Are you sure? I don't have a chip in my key because it is a 1994, but it does have a remote. I have found key programming instructions online, but not a cheap key. Where can I buy an uncut remote master key for a 1994 LS? -Reid
  4. I DO have a working remote key for my 1994 LS400 and want to have a second remote key just in case I loose this one. Do I have to spend the $200+ to get a programmable remote key if I have an existing programmed key? Where can I buy a cheap programmable master key? -Reid
  5. Royt, the websites were a big help. Thank you very much. -Reid
  6. Hey, I'm located in Houston, TX and actually test drove the 1998 you are debating buying. I would NOT buy the car, I repeat, I would NOT buy that car. It is a non-inspected Lexus for good reason. Once you turn it on, you will understand. Also, it looks like there has been body work done to the car. Did you notice how they didn't put any pictures of the engine compartment? The only reason I liked the car was it was black on black and it had the Nav package. But to me, that's not worth buying a car that I know I will need to spend $$$$ on. I ended up getting a 1994 with 47k miles and I'm very happy about it. Though it wasn't the color I wanted, nor did it have Nav, I know it will be a solid car. Keep looking and good luck with your purchase. -Reid
  7. Roy, so your saying that if I have an ECU in the glove compartment, then an ECU from a 1991 should work on my 1994? And if I don't, then I have other problems. Where can find glove compartment removal instructions? Also, what are some good general LS Do-it-yourself websites? -Reid
  8. Royt, thanks for the reply. My tilt steering works fine. I will check the fuses again and then move to the ECU behind the glove compartment. If I buy a used ECU, does it have to be from the same year? Would a 1991 LS ECU work and how would I know if they have memory mirrors? And what would be a reasonable cost for a used part? Thanks. -Reid
  9. Thank you for your quick response. I just checked all of the fuses on the driver's side. All seem to be fine. Any troubleshooting ideas? -Reid
  10. Does anyone have any other suggestions?? Could the switch be bad? I doubt it is the motor, because BOTH aren't working. Does anyone know which fuse it is on? -Reid
  11. 90LS400Lexus, yes I ran a carfax report and everything is fine. And the paint looks fine. I will check the tires and go from there. Thanks. -Reid
  12. Congrats on the car. I too was wondering the same thing. I just bought a 1994 LS400 with 47,000 miles and I'm going through usual maintenance. I would suggest: 1) Go to a Lexus dealership and get a list of previous repairs and services that have been done to the car. That will let you know what has already been done. 2) Change the air filter. That's as far as I have gone with my maintenance. Good luck! -Reid
  13. You guys are awesome. I really appreciate all the suggestions. Frame? Carfax report is fine. No accidents. Clear title. What is the best way of finding out if it is a suspension issue or caliper issue? Is there a easy (possibly visual) way to find out? If it is a suspension issue, what kind of $$ am I looking at to fix it? -Reid
  14. Ha ha....thanks LinuxFan, but I have tried that. :chairshot: Which fuse is the mirror control on? -Reid
  15. I bought a 1994 LS400 last week with 47,000 miles and it pulls to the right when driving fast or slow. I have done an alignment and nothing changed. Also, I found out from a Lexus dealership that the previous owner brought the car in for an alignment 1 month before they sold the car.....yes, it sounds suspicious. The tires seem fine and the air pressure has been checked. The next thing I'm going to do is check the balance of the tires. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance. -Reid
  16. I just bought a 1994 LS400 with 48,000 miles and neither of the electric side-view mirrors are working. I don't have any other electrical issues, so I don't think it is a fuse problem. Any suggestions? -Reid
