  1. I would think that you can have auxilliary lighting rocker swithes mounted there..for upgraded outside lights such as fog lights highere beams etc.. the installer can use those ports to run the wiring up to the back and cut out if neede holes in those knock out panels to install the new hardware. hope this helps..

Hello everyone, I purchased a used 1993 ls400 with all the options for 2400.00 it has 116.000 miles. i decided to bring it to the lexus dealer in my area for fluid change and lube as well as visual inspection. he told me that I need right upper control arm,lower ball joints,motormounts,rear knuckle bushings, cv. boots are leaking also advised to replace them and trans pan gasket and wheel alignment. oh yea almost forgot 3 tail light bulbs also. the total repair is arround 3300.00 dollars. i know i only paid 2400.00 for the car,it has 116.000 miles on it and the black and grey body is really in good shape with just some annoying scratches here and there :( and the occassional dings that can all be worked out later :D.. my question is......is it feasible to put arround 3500.00 into the car.it rides beautiful and it feels like im riding in my sofa down the road. i got it up to 120 m.p.h. and it had a slight vibration and showed about 2000 r.p.m. at 120 m.p.h. ill leave it up to you guys for feedback. thanks everyone have a great day to all.
  3. hi everyone..i'm having issues with the factory radio in my 93 ls400..it's a nakasaki i think? anyway i cant seem to get left audio balance. of course i will check the wiring as best i can and speakers but i was talking to a guy who is in the process of rebuilding my dashboard (mikadotech.) in calif. he suggested a pioneer system..but i'd like to hear from the forum club on suggestions for repair or if i have to replace it what would compliment a mint interior color black with the wood grain console area. thanks to all replies... sean.   4. hello everyone.. my 93 ls400 makes a distinct straining sound as though there is little or no powersteering fluid..however the level is fine..the prior owner said he had the power steering pump replaced about 2 years ago. from appearances it looks like the silver paint is peeling off of the power steering pump. any suggestions ? or do you all think that it's the power steering pump again?
  5. C'MON man it's so evident that the dealer in bayridge is banging out the warranty company for $$$$$$$$. i bet you it's never had more than an oil change..
  6. nope...sounds like the bearings are binding on the compressor.. requiring mor force to get it turning.. could just be the a/c clutch either way my ls400 year 1993 you cant even tell when the a/c is running. check how many amps it draws..on the data plate of the compressor it will tell you the fla. full load amps.. compressors are damm expensive..dont stand for inferior product!! good luck. sean
  7. hello... i got a great deal also on a 93 ls400 116.000 miles gold pkg. black with a naka...summn radio haha.. any idea why i would have no audio when i turn the balance to the left.. but if all the way to the right i can get some but i cant crank it..loud it sounds low.. but if im mi way the whole right side cranks loud with no problem at all. im not a radio buff. and it seems like you know your stuff. thanks sean.
  8. 1993 ls 400 prior owner independent owner had 2 freeze plugs blow out on him. im guessing inproper coolant level or straight water on emergency demand. vehicle has 116000 miles on it.. mint condition. i cant seem to find anyone who can answer this question for me.. just in case my e-mail is allappliance@aol.com you would be a god send if you can give me logical in put.. p.s. the vehicle runs smooth and does not overheat. i already had the instument panel sent out for a repair to a guy in california it kept going black on me more often than not. also today i changed the rotors and pads but im kinda concerned about painting the calipers black (high)temp) paint. some of the paint got on the bottom edge of the pads where they are held in place with those metal tension bands,do you think that will pose an issue for the pads at all when they start to move forwarward toward the rotor? or should i take the pads back out and terpentine off the paint and lube up the tention bands that keep the pads centered while sliding towards the rotors or do you feel confident that the hydraulic pressure on the caliper in more than enough to overcome some tacky set in black paint? boy o boy that was alot of typing for me...... i only hope this gets to you. haha my name is sean
  9. today i changed my rotors and pads ( front) i thought it would look good if i painted the calipers with black caliper paint. only one concern i have... i think that i accidentlly got paint on the bottom edge of the pads that slide into the tension springs that hold the pads into place.. could that present a problem with sticking of the pads from moving the forward motion towards the rotor during normal wear down as they draw closer to the rotor. do you think i have to undo the whole thing and terpentine the painted area where the bottom edge of the pad meets the spring clip retainer and lube up the area.? or is there enough hydraulic pressure to be no match for tacky paint. boy i feel stupid.
  10. hi everyone i hope thius doesn't sound stupid...but the prior owner of my lexus ls 400 1993 said that he blew 2 freeze plugs in a 12 month period.. im thinking that his antifreeze/water mixture was wrong..or even more likely when he must have had a leak at one point he added straight water to the system something he would god forbid ever admit... ego maniac... i mean what else could cause such an occurance? any advice would be greatly appreciated. p.s. i am going to have the coolant system drained/flushed and properly filled with the correct mixture .
  11. does anyone know what the heck is an engine fuse plug? apparently it had to be towed when it faile twice on the prior owner.
  12. according to the prior owner of this 93 ls 400 he had to replace 2 ffreeze plugs...does anyone have any advice on why this happens to the fuse plugs? ever heard of this happening before>?
  13. ok guys so far everyone has been helpful..here is a new one.. when i apply the brakes the steering wheel shakes.. i pulled the tires and the rotors dont appear to be distorted at all. the pads have about 1/4 life left on them just in case i bought all new rotors ..cost me 317.00 the pads have to be ordered about 1 day time..even though i cant feel any grooves on the rotors do you think by replacing them all arround should solve the shaking issue when braking? im trying to save money in this bad economy and im pretty handy..this site is a god send god bless you all. p.s. i sent out the instrumunt panel to that guy in cali. he said he does tons of them and should anticipate the climate control to be next to go. he will send the rebuilt one out to me in about a week with a 12 month warranty. can i reuse the shims on the pads? noone stocks them and they seem to be ok i can apply the appropriate adhesive to the backing and grease the caliper pins as needed. thanks again... sean.

  15. hello can anyone give me some advice? i bought a used 93 ls400 and the instument panel light doesn't light up unless it is in direct sunlight all day or been running for a while and even then after about 45 minutes it starts blinking rapidly then goes completely black again. any advice would be appreciated as this is driving me nuts.
