  1. here is my email: gshawns@hotmail.com i have a couple more questions... 1- are these for chrome or alloy wheels? (the picture looks like alloy) 2- are all the clips and stuff there to use them or will i need to buy something else as well? 3- what do i need to do to add another coat of clear? is this something i buy at an auto store? sorry for my ignorance. i am not too car savvy. thanks! btw...here is a link i found to a place that sells them. might be helpful to someone. http://www.hubcaps.org/lexus.html
  2. I guess I don't really know. I thought I saw a set on ebay for about $80 but the emblems weren't gold. Since they are used...I think $80 is a good price (especially since you mentioned something about applying clear coat). steviej - Thanks for the tip. I don't mind paying more if they are new and will work on my wheels but I need the gold emblem. :)
  3. I think the going rate is about $20 each. Are they in good condition? I want to replace my current, fading set. btw...i have a '96 es 300
  4. Does anybody know where I can buy replacement wheel caps for my OEM chrome ES 300 rims?
  5. Just thought I'd let everyone know that I took my car to our mechanic and asked him to estimate what it would cost to fix the power steering leak. Turns out I don't even have a power steering leak! A few months back I had my valve cover gaskets replaced because they were leaking. Turns out that what the dealer thought was a leak was just left over oil from the valve cover gaskets. Wow! I just saved $1600! Thanks to everyone for your advice. This site is definitely proving to be valuable!
  6. Wow. I'm glad I checked here first. I will definitely have our mechanic take a look at it. Is there anything that should only be done by the Lexus dealer or is it pretty much ok to have a local mechanic do any repairs that come up? I appreciate everyone's responses. These forums are so helpful!!!
  7. I just took my 96 ES 300 to the dealership and they said I have a power steering leak. They said I will need to replace the pump and some high pressure lines or something. The total cost...$1660 Just wondering if this is a reasonable price before I have the work done. Also, I know a pretty good mechanic that has done work for us in the past. Are there certain things (like this or anything else) that should only be done by the dealer or is it ok to have a local mechanic do the work? Thanks in advance for the advice.
  8. Is this the same as fuel treatment. From what my friend was saying, you put something like a cleaner with a full tank, then a conditioner on the next full tank. Anybody heard of this?
  9. A friend of mine mentioned that he adds a fuel additive to his Toyota once in a while to help clean out the lines and stuff. He said it was recommended by the Toyota dealer. Anyone know whether or not this is a good idea? If it is good to do, any recommendation on what to use?
  10. I already ordered the 476s wax...I hope that was a good choice. Are the application instructions included with the wax? If not, would you mind giving me a few pointers? I am also going to put it on my windows (I didn't know you could do that). One more question...is it ok to put this on the rims too or should I use a different product for that? Thanks for the info!!!
  11. Hello. Let me first say that I have found a lot of helpful information on this site. Anyway, I have a 96 ES 300 and am curious about waxing the bumper. Is it ok to wax the part that goes around the bottom of the car and the bumper? If so, should I use a different wax or can I use the same that goes on the rest of the car? After reading some of the posts, I am going to use Collinite next time I wax, just wanted to make sure it is ok to put this on the bumper area too. Thanks for the advice.
