  1. Here is a video on how my luxlink works. Forgive my poor quality until I get videos figured out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVWOT_ad7Lo The coolest mod ever...... John
  2. 1. Most of us love the style. For me it started the first time I saw it. I dont know why anyone would buy a car that they did not like the way it looked. 2. Ditch the run flat tires and the jiggle will disappear. 3.Keep in mind the SC is more luxury than sport. Most german cars handle in more of a sports mode than luxury. On the other hand no german car can hold a candle to the reliability of the SC. With my first test drive, I was driving the SC within a week-though not the same one. Fortunately I ended up with the color combo I wanted (white gold/ecru) and for the right price. No complaints whatsoever-finest car I ever owned.
  3. Wow, I thought I did it the lazy way. I bought them on line for $55-received them 2 days later and 10 minutes later my trunk stayed up by itself. But I did need to get a screwdriver out of my toolbox and popped off the retaining ring and put the new ones on. I thought it would take more energy to drive to the dealer and then wait for the repair. Silly me (LoL)
  4. Sorry about that-Place in the find box: SC 430 Center. Works for me.
  5. I purchased a set of 4 for $79 ended up being less than $100 with shipping. This is an ebay store that is located in Huntington Beach Ca. I got my SC430 in mid June and received these within 3 days of paying with paypal-very impressive. I noticed they have one for $25 with 10 available. The store name is AAI and they are called center caps for an SC 430. Good luck. This is the site: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-SC430...em153Q2el1262QQ categoryZ43961QQihZ003QQitemZ130215487480 I am very proud of my 2002 white with ecre interior. I paid 27K but it only has 24K miles complete with carfax and computer records from the lexus dealer. I have added luxlink remote start/top. The caps are plastic (like the pie plates) and I will some day replace them with some nice wheels but these caps are 150% improvement and you would never guess they are plastic. BTW Lexus wanted $200 each for the same thing!!!!! Good luck.
  6. I agree that it slow off the line but it picks up quickly-remember this car weighs nearly 4,000 pounds and still goes 0-60 in 5.9 sec. I just bought a 2002 SC from an exotics dealer (Lamborghinis, etc) for $27K. It has only 24 K miles on it and I was able to buy an extended warranty that will take the car to 99K miles or the year 2015 and it has zero deductable. I paid $1230 for the warranty. It is a quality luxury car that is more luxury than sport but I love it. This car looks like a coupe inside and out and in 30 seconds you got the top down-FANTASTIC! BTW the dealer was great-he told me to have it inspected, so I took it to a Lexus dealer who spent 2 hours on it. They showed me the computer records where services were done as scheduled from the time it left the dealer as a new car. You could see the milage slowly creep up from zero miles to 24K-That dealer actually recommended that I buy the car because of its record and came up with only one problem-the trunk shocks. The inspection cost $240 and was worth every penny. I ordered the $55 trunk shocks and installed when I had the car less than a week. The car is white with ecru interior. I used Autotrader and only looked at SC's that were white, less than 50K miles and less than $35K. I found two in a 75 mile radius of my home. Advertised price was 27.9 and I paid 27.5-Not much of a negotiation, but I felt the car was fairly priced and was will to pay asking price. I am one very happy SC owner-I did buy one unique car that has one of the best reliability records around.
  7. I did the same as you. Basically, autotrader/cars.com/craigslist. I did find that if you extend your top range by a couple of thousand you could find low milage and immaculate. I also only looked at 430's that were the color combination I wanted. I got exactly what I wanted like I was buying brand new. I tried to negotiate thinking about the economy but after getting such a good report from the lexus dealer I thought it was a fair price. He came down $500 and to be honest with you, I would have been heartbroken if I went back a couple days later and it was gone. I don't know that the economy is really effecting the high end market like it is with suvs/trucks. I have no doubt that I got my moneys worth and have no regrets. My current (other) convertibles are 2 del sols (95 w/62,000 miles and a '93 with 95,000 miles). I also have a 01 PT cruiser (first year out) and 05 Odyssey also first year of current body style. I will now sell the 93 sol and PT. I've had sols for 12 years but am thinking about giving them up now-this 430 is phenominal!!! Good luck-If you buy we can get together and compare. I'm right down the road from you-57/60 freeways.
  8. I purchased a 2002 SC 430 just last Thursday. It has 24,000 miles on it. I bought it from an exotics dealer. Before I bought it I took it to a Lexus dealer. They spent two hours going over the car as well as showed me all the service records (it was all done at 2 different lexus dealers). Example: the 15,000 mile maintenance was done in 05. The only thing that was done repairwise since the car was new was 02 sensor and trunk shocks. Price was 27,500 from $28000 advertised. The car looks showroom new. I consider the price fair considering the milage and condition. I paid $120/Hr to Lexus and consider that a bargain for peace of mind. The car is pearl white with beige interior. It even had the window sticker along with all of the manuals. It shows MSRP at 58,455 plus Nav, spoiler, run flat tires cargo net, trunk mat and wheel locks for a total of 61,950.
