  1. This is the outcome of my aftermarket navigation system. I decided to go with the Pioneer AVIC-Z1. See attached photo. If you have any questions, please contact me. DW... So will the steering wheel controls still work? Did you buy any kind of wiring harness adaptor or just the bezel? Thanks! A
  2. I posted this in the RX330 forum as well... probably more 330s then 350s, but not sure. Same part and issue though. Thanks! At the movies July 4th and about 20 cars got their side windows broken. My RX 350 got hit on the front passenger side. Anyone have any recommendations about going with Lexus Glass versus 3rd party like SafeLite? I have the door panel off and it is all cleaned up, my only worry is around color. Lexus dealer says 2 different color tints, so it depends on VIN, but price is almost the same ($400 just for glass). I can get it cheaper, so by doing it myself, it is only a little more then getting an installer out. Anyone have a front window replaced? Were you happy with your choice? Thanks, A

  4. I don't know exactly what it is, but I would look in the relay compartment under the hood. I am making a guess, here but many electromechanical gizmos are driven by relays and relays can buzz when energized. Some manufacturers even leave some switches energized when the car is off - take the recent Ford explorer fires - they leave the Cruise Control switch/relay powered all the time; even when the car is off and parked. Lexus may have a relay that links to the high amp starter interconnect that is energized as soon as the key is inserted. Just my 2 cents here.
  5. Rob, Did the $212 OEM part come with the wiring harness? I'm looking to add the hitch to my RX 400 and wanted to verify beforeing ordering at the site you quoted. Thanks, Jason New member here... I just ordered the $212 hitch with harness mentioned above. The web site that selling it is flaky, but hopefully the order goes through. I will confirm if this deal is as good as it sounds once I receive the package... Oh and shipping is only $21 - for 50# hitch! Who am i to argue. :) Hi Alphadog, I'm also a new member here and also new to Lexus. I am curious if you received this hitch and if you were pleased with it? Were there any problems? Was the harness the right product? Have you tested the hitch by pulling anything? Sorry for all the questions but I'm very interested. I've just purchased a new '08 400h and may wish to order the same hitch & harness. Thanks to everyone for the advice and help. I posted some pics in another thread (lots of threads on the RX hitch and I always forget which one I should use) Lexus Trailer post http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=48904 It installed easy, no problems at all. The harness plugged right into the main harness in the rear. I am very pleased and feel that this the best way to go - better then any after market hitch. I have not pulled the trailer yet, but i did hook up the harness and check the electrical connections. Based on the welded construction and frame attachment points, I have no reason to believe that this will not handle the rated load of 3500# clearly stamped on the hitch.
  6. Yes, I could not have done it without your post directing me to the site. I just wanted to add a little more detail and my experience.
  7. In my experience this is common with 3rd party hitches. The last non-OEM I installed was a Reese (non-Lexus SUV) and it was the same way. You could always fab a small bracket, tack it on, and mount a plug.
  8. THis is an old post, but after installing my hitch (i don't have air suspension), if you have air suspension you skip the step involving installing the passenger side plate/bracket. My guess is that there is already a bracket there. The way I read the instructions, if you had Air Suspension you would skip this step. The diagrams are very clear where the hitch mounts. You should be able to look under your car and see if there is a bracket there that will work.
  9. I just purchased from www.lexuspartsonline.com - it is actually champion toyota in Austin, tx. There is a trick to their site, if you use the OEM parts input box with a part number you get dealer pricing - 40% or more of retail. You just need to know the part number. If you find the part number elsewhere on their site, and drop the first letter, you usually get the OEM part number. I just ordered the hitch w/harness and got it for $212 and $21 shipping (for a 50# part).
  10. Got my Hitch Saturday via FedEx. 2 hours later everything was installed and re-assembled. This hitch comes with factory wiring harness pre-installed including the grommet for passing through the body already attached. The instructions are clear, however the kit lists that it comes with a "ball mount" and mine did not - no matter I have one already anyway. The box says genuine Toyota part, but it had been taped shut, so I believe that maybe they removed the ball mount piece -maybe. There is no picture diagram as to what is included, but there are plenty of diagrams for installation. Also, the instructions are clear that if you don't have the "Tow Package" you need a converter; the part number is listed and instructions for installing it. Installation is easy and I did it myself. The hardware is composed of all bolts and one nut. There are 2 brackets that mount to the frame, and then the entire hitch assembly mounts to the brackets and the frame. The drivers side mounting bracket that is attached to the frame has bolt welded to it - this is where i diverged from the directions. The directions claim to put the hitch assembly over the muffler first, but this bolt is actually made to use as a one man starting point. I laid the hitch on the ground under the RX and lifted the drivers side up onto the bolt and started the nut on this bolt. Then I lifted the passenger side up and started the bolts there. This is how it should be done, as that is why there is only one nut. The wiring harness is partially pre-attached to the hitch, and where it requires additional attachment, there are built in connectors and mounting locations - no zip ties or tape required. I have installed hitches before and this is one of the easiest I have done, and is far superior to aftermarket solutions. For the price, it is actually cheaper then buying an aftermarket hitch and buying a seperate wiring harness. The only cheaper deal is if skip a plug in wiring harness and go for splicing in wires. Pictures are attached:
  11. It is my understanding that if you have the "tow prep package" then you can just plug in the factory harness (similar to what is in your picture). If you don't have the "tow prep package" then there is some type of electronics box that has be installed in the back and this is what provides the dongle for the wiring harness.
  12. Try eBay. The genuine Lexus (Toyota) part is just under $300 plus shipping. It fits perfectly and the wiring is included. Some people have had troubles with off-brands, especially the wiring aspect. Search this forum for feedback. Did that with no luck did see a web site that had that model hitch and light harness included Lexus Parts World .com Any one else use that site for anything Thanks I just ordered one from lexuspartsonline.com it was $212.00 plus $21 for shipping. you can find it under accessories and under the OEM part number. Going for it under accessories makes it $350 plus extra shipping. But if you search by the part number PT22848045, you get the primo price, and it is the Lexus part, and it comes with the wiring harness (according to another site, and a guy that bought it, it has the harness). Also, if the RX came with the towing prep package, all you do is plug the harness in. I have not got it yet as they didn't have it in stock, but hopefully this week it will ship.
  13. Hey DC, can you contact me? I have an 07 RX 350 and I am interested in a NAV system and BT. Can you email me as I can't seem to PM Or Email you from these boards: I PM'd you Andrew Thanks
