  1. Hi Mike Yes my trunk lid is hard to open too. Wife hates it. Parking Assist Sensor.....ha ha. I was actually backing out of a parking spot on day using the camera the bluetooth came up and i hit a pole. $1500.00 later to replace the bumper cover made me wish I never turned it off. You might want to call your local Lexus Dealer there was a "service Recall" on our year Lexus for the calipers, fuel line and one other thing. Check to see if your VIN was part of that. It doesnt cost anything and I had mine bakc next day. I really enjoy my GS430 its and 06 too. 34K miles on it. If I may suggest one thing......DO NOT have anyone other than Lexus even look at the car. I have 2 horror stories from 3rd party vendors and I will NEVER EVER use anyone but Lexus again. Good luck
  2. Thanks Gman. I was really hoping ot get more feedback from the readers on the website but unfortunately I did not. I will let you all know what comes of this tomorrow.
  3. I called my service rep at Lexus of Chandler and he immediately told me that my GS430's VIN # fell under 2 of the "Service Campaigns". I do appreciate Lexus telling me and paying for the work. Taking it in tomorrow. Will let you all know how it goes.
  4. So my 40,000 factory warranty is almost up (yes I have purchased the extended warranty to 100,000 miles) and I wanted to know if anyone could give me some advice on some things maybe I should have checked out before this warranty expires? I am trying to be "ProActive" rather than "Reactive". I have noticed a few things that I plan on bringing to the attention of my Lexus Service Consultant next week for my oil change and service and I have been looking at some of the SB's posted on a website TAM the Auto Media (http://forums.theautomedia.com/local_links.php?catid=1) to bring to the service guys attention and asked to have looked at. I have noticed some creeks and noises coming from the drivers seat. I have heard a rattling noise coming from the sunroof when the sunroof is open and the windows too. I notice on cold days after it has rained the front speaker cuts out. When going over bumps I notice the noise is louder than normal when the front end is hitting the bump. The steering wheel isnt straight (Again) .... kinda feels like it is pulling to the right a bit. Also I live in AZ where it doesnt really get too cold but a few weeks out of the year and this year has been mild one however and I do see these posts on here where most complaints of noises and rattles come when it is cold and people have asked extra insualtion foam be added in certain parts of the car. Well these last few weeks I have noticed some of these rattles and creeks but cant really tell exactly where they are coming from and it is starting to warm up so maybe you could suggest work you have requested be done on your ride. Also, is there anything those of you who own a 2006 GS430 have noticed after the 40,000 that they wish would have happened before or someone might have suggested for them to have Lexus check out before it expired. Really appreciate any advice any of you could give.....
  5. I love going to the Lexus dealership. Check out the new rides. Have a free snack, a botte of water. Free car wash. Just take it in
  6. Dude same happened to me. Was looking for black got the silver. Pd' a bit more and with fewer miles but all in all it's a great ride.
  7. I have a 2006 GS430 also. I got it when it had 15,000 miles and took it in because it shook when i went over 65. I thought there was a tear in them so I went ot the local tire shop to have them checked. He told me he has seen this before on Lexus and it is from riding the car in "Sport" and the person who had the car before me must have driven all the time with it in "sport" feature on. I got new tires (not run flats)and an alignment and they seem to be fine now. I love my Lexus.
  8. Never been to AZ so unfortunately I can't help with the recommendation. However, I did have a similar experience with my GS when I was in CT. As you mentioned, the Lexus dealers typically don't have their own body shops - they contract the work out. With that said, the shops they use do a lot more Lexuses than other shops (for the simple reason that the dealerships refer all their customers there), and so will have more experience with Lexus cars than your average body shop. The other thing I found was the the majority of the cost is in the parts and not so much the paint and labor. I needed a front bumper last August and the bumper alone was over 1,000!! So, rather than going with another shop, your biggest saving will be getting a cheaper bumper. Since this generation GS is fairly new, there was no one making cheaper aftermarket parts last summer. So, then you would have to buy the bumper from Lexus and then take it to another body shop to paint and install. Given the estimates I had for painting, it made more sense just to drop it off at the dealership and have them take care of it. So, call a couple of body shops (you'll find numbers and sometimes reviews online) and see if they can get an aftermarket bumper for you (it's been a year since I called, so they may now be available). If so, you may be able to save a bit. If not, forget the hassle, take it in to Lexus, and bite the bullet unfortunately. Thanks man, I did some homework and found any way I slice it it was gonna be between $800 - $1000.00 to get the rear bumper cover replaced. A Couple of places said they could apint right over the sensor, while others looked at me crossed eyed when I told them it could be done. End of the day the Lexus recommended dealers was $100.00 higher than the rest. I'll pay for the experienced shop. THanks again for responding.
  9. I do and it works fine. I know the diffence between a tank full of regular and a tank full of premium (figured on 15.5 gallons) is less than $5.00. So I have one less Grande double expresso mocha latte frappachino this week. On the other hand, I just hate giving the ever so "boasting a profit" oil companies any more money than I have to. steviej PS. the owners manual does NOT say you CANNOT use regular. I Use premiumjust because my step dad who has worked on carrs hs whole life swares it is a scam and there is such minimal differences off the two. Yet i still pump my 06GS430 with CostCO 91 grade.........Better fliters at Costco
  10. I need to know if anyone in the Phoenix / Tempe / Gilbert Arizona area can refer a good body shop? I need a rear bumper replaced and have heard the rumors that even Lexus farms the work out to shops they have deemed Certified Repair Centers so rather than pay the 50% mark up I was hoping someone has had some body work done and can recommend a good body shop in the area. My email is kenkaz@cox.net Thanks for your help
