Thanks..i just poured it back in the dipstick tube..it was changed i believe 15k ago but the 2 quarts or so that i drained and poured back in looked somewhat darker than i expected..is our tranny fluid dark blood red? I thought it was suppossed to be like clearer koolaid red? Anyway...i dont like messing with transmissions or tranny fluids bc i know the detriment i could cause, and i know that the fluid needs to be change every maybe 50k miles...should i drain what i can from the pan and refill with fresh Toyota ATF fluid? or will this cause more hurt than good? I mean has the tranny gotten used to that fluid in there and some new may mess things up? thanks

Im pretty sure i can go buy new ATF or use the old ATF i drained and just pour it back in the dipstick..car is an auto...any help?

Oh wow guys im in a bit of a mess. I planned on doing a normal oil change..got under the car. unscrewed what i THOUGHT was the oil pan plug and wala....fresh red tranny fluid.....drained the whole thing..it is good fluid just changed 10k ago. it was drained into a clean fresh bought oil bucket. Should i just use this fluid and refill? How the hell and where do i refill? ahhhhh also theres no "air in the system" i eed to bleed like coolant etc...any help would be great im kind of freaking out

Ya i used to use AMSOIL 5W40 Euro formula in my TA WS6 LS1..have a QT in my garage..too hard to come by. I got MOBIL 1 5W30 Extended Life. SOund Good? I saw MOBIL 1 5000 Clean...ridiculously cheap? whys that? must be junk huh?

Will do thanks.. So i bought a K&N oil filter and oil pan crush washer now im deciding on the oil Seems the previous owner was putting in Chevron premium oil 5W30 for the first 50K of its life. I was thinking of switching to Mobil 1 5W30 synth. heard good things about castrol 5W30 too. Any help/recommendations? Thanks

I am just scared of leaking oil all over my clean engine when i remove the filter since it is in such a weird spot. Im used to my LT1/LS1's and its a breeze. seems the angle of the filter though will just have oil dripping everywhere...? I know about putting oil on the filter gasket but why do you swish oil around in the filter before install? Do you drain that oil out before installing? Thanks

Thanks..i am going to go with a K&N filter from Autozone and Mobil 1 5W30 syntheitc. Does this sound good? Also do i HAVE TO buy a oil drain plug crush washer? Can i use the old one? Thanks

Need a good write up with pics.. the engine is so clean you can eat off it and i dont want to spill a drop of oil on it. Also i would like a recommendation of good brand and weight regular or synth oil for these motors..as well as a good filter I live in AZ (temp for viscosity) I believe it has been running regular 5W30 its whole life..51,000 miles on it right now. No love? :( Heres another question...whats the widest tire i can fit on my IS? It has the stock 17" alloy rims...is the backspace 7 or 7.5"...how big can i go with keeping the low pro tires? 245?

I dont like hearing my front floating calipers pop all the time..makes me feel like i have a front end suspension problem My front brakes squeal a bit when stopping but tend to stop after a few seconds? need new pads? just brake dust? My MPG gauge works half the time and half the time its pegged on zero or 80 What do these cars idle at? Warmed mine seems to sit at 500rpm...too low? no jumping around though which is good I dont think these cars get decent gas milege..i was hoping for 24...how many gallons do i have left at quarter tank? Hello, I just had my back 5 windiws tinted (left out the front 2) with suntek tint at 35 degree carbon. He did a great job but he took off the back brake light housing (behind the back seats in the middle) and forgot to reinstall it. Im wondering how to get this thing back together? I looks like the black plastic housing clips to the the light, but the limited space to work with does not allow me to do it. Any suggestions. (please dont reply with "take it back to him"). He lives far away.

Thanks. Yes it makes that clicking/poping noise right after im moving after first putting it in gear from startup. Esp. if i turn. Also when i put it in reverse or turn. I know the previous owner always had the hand brake on when he parked the car for some reason but im not sure if that would ever matter. It sounds like a suspension or brake noise as you said (or could be coming from the motor POP or CLICK. ??) I did a search for that Fitz and couldnt find it. Il go to pep boys and see what they have. So im going to order the amsoil and was wondering how much a shop or dealership should charge me for just doing the oil change (if i bring the filter and oil)? In my world it should be $20 but thats not reality..I guess im used to changing my own on my 350 LT1/LS1 engines and not paying someone to do it..but these motors seem a PITA to try and change the oil. Wheres the plug and filter on these bad boys?

Ahh its not moisture on the inside of the lenses its grim on the outside of the headlight lenses..any products good to take it off w/o ruining the plastic? Thanks

Thanks. I have my manual. I was just asking about this specific AMSOIL weight and type. The oil capacity question was just thrown in there but yes i can look it up... :P

Ok thanks..I will try Mobil 1 5W30 synthetic from now on...unless anyone else has any suggestions? I used to run AMSOIL 5W40 in my 2002 Trans Am WS6 and that stuff was amazing..10k and it looked like i put it in the crankcase the day before. Anyway here are some pics..The rear bumper is not flush with the panels..like a small gap..is this normal or do you think the car has been bumped (SEE PICTURE 3)? Thanks Oh....also...my headlights seem a bit dingey...like theres moisture on the inside of the plastic lense that will never evap. Any suggestions...isnt it a PITA to take the lenses out and clean?

Looks like the previous owner has been running 5W30 "Chevron premium engine oil" Questions: Is that bad oil? How hard is changing the oil on these cars? (i remember my moms old ES you use to have to drop the pan i think!) It has 48.500 miles on it. Should i just switch over to mobil 1 5W30 synthetic now? Any help? Hello, Im VERY new to the world of Lexus's. I just sold my 2002 Black WS6 Trans am and decided to buy a practical automobile. My new baby...2003 IS300 Graphite gray pearl. 48,000 miles auto off a 1 owner. My questions....any notorious mechanical problems with these cars? Engines? What oil should be ran? I suppose they run syn from the factory? Heres my issue..the car has about a half dozen small door dings and dents..some on the "crease" line of the rear panel (you know where the crease line goes across the entire length of the car and swoops up towards the rear). It also has a pretty deep scratch on the rear bumper. Whats my best bet to do? Go to a body shop and hope they can do a PDR (Paintless dent repair). How about those guys that come to you and do it in your parking lot etc..? Im not sure what to do but i want my new baby to look as good as it did rolling out of the factory. I quess im just asking on what my best option would be for price and service for dings and dents. Never had em before! Thanks and i look forward to gaining more knowledge on this little 215hp rocket! :D
