  1. My 2004 gs430 had 80k miles on roughy traffics of LA. Change oil (mobil1) every 6k miles at local walmart. No need to bother with dealer n maintenance schedule bcuz my maxima 1996 had same routine of oil change every 6k miles it already locked 230k miles n still run like it has under 50k miles. These cars made in japan. That makes big different. Lifetime wheels aligment provided by firestone also help the tires last longer.

DONOT mess around with other button. It may do harm to your car
  3. try to insert/reject few time when the car is in power on position. 2nd, the disc must be GEN 2/3. if you have original disc and wrong GEN# the player will not work. last option is remove cable from battery for 5 min and reconnect it. the dvd will reload the gps base software from the disc and update the system (it may corrupted).
  4. it's just a DVD player. why does it care if it is a genuine disc or a DVD+DL disc? as long as the disc has good and uniform coating (Verbartim, Sony, TDK...) then 2004 GS430 dvd player has no problem reading it. even 2002 SC430 dvd player can read the DVD+DL disc well.
  5. are you bay area? http://www.wheelworks.net/ will match any local prices, event local craigslist's price. you should stay with the 235/45/17 size
  6. Is your case same as mine? I have done something wrong and cannot have the Nav running... nothing wrong with your ECU - 99% causeby bad disc in the unit. try to clean the disc and reinsert. if the screen shows the same error again, turn key of, wait few sec and turn back on to ACC. repeat this step few times. if ECU still not like the disc, reinsert the disc, and do not close the dvd door. this will allow the ecu to eject the disc. try the key on and off. the system will take the disc if it is a real good dvd.
  7. I bought a 2004 GS430 without DVD navigation in the Gen2/3 ECU. The dealer will send me a DVD in few weeks. I tried out the DVD "Toyota Lexus Navigation DVD Gen 2-3 v7.1 86271-33036 464210-0930.rar" using Matrix DVD+R DL, made by Ricoh. The system tries to take the update DVD for few seconds, and then show the error msg: "Error; System unable to access the program". By reading thru these forums; I thought that I messed up my DVD ECU. After a day of searching (Google) for the answer; at least few guys had successful burned and used other version of the DVD from the web download. So, I looked for the same version that worked for them. This version should have a compressed size of about 3.2GB. When decompress with MagicISO the file name should be lexnav.iso (8093184 Kb). I burned the DVD with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 the way they suggested. I leaved all options as is, just select source image as lexnav.iso, and then MODE-> ISO -> Write. The DVD ECU rejected the burned DVD (TDK) at first. I got same error "Error; System unable to access the program" as previous download version. Here is what I did to get rid of the error msg, and make the GPS unit work: I pop in a Lexus Navigation system tutorial CD. Switch key to ACC and then off few times. Next, I took out the CD, and insert the TDK DVD (with lexnav.iso burn image). The on screen at that time still showed the error msg. I turned key to off, and then on to ACC. I repeated this step at least few times. I also took out the DVD once or twice during this process. I kept force the ECU to take this TDK as a good commercial pressed DVD. Voila, the system took it. It showed message something like: “please close the DVD door when finish working on it”. The Navigation apps went full active mode after I close the DVD door on my GS430. I don’t think we need to drain the ECU battery at all. It has nothing with the msg "Error; System unable to access the program". The wave length of the ECU DVD expect the lighter media; like pressed DVD instead of dark purple color like most DVD+R DL. The TDK I used to burn the iso image made by Ritek. The coating color is a little brighter than Matrix (RICOH brand). After few try; the laser picks up the data OK. The error msg went away when DVD unit can read the data. Just try diff media, and burn at 2x or 1x to make sure data write uniform and good for sensitive DVD unit. good luck everyone! :D
