  1. Update: The Lexus dealer called me today to say they are going to try and get it to work. They will do a wire trace of the existing harness, look at the parts to see if all the needed pieces are already installed and whether they can be made to work togther. Interesting!
  2. My broken windshield was replaced with one that has a heated wiper area. Safelite says it's the only replacement they have. The option is not available on my 2008 car. Lexus dealer will not try to get it to work. It would be great if I could get it to work. There is wire harness jack available that the windshield is plugged into, there is an available spot in the fusebox that accepts some kind of relay instead of a fuse but I'm afraid to just plug something into it. I appeal to the members of this forum to assist me. What can I do to get it going?
  3. I have a 2008 GS 350 AWD. I stuck with runflats. I had three flats during the life of the tires, so they were very convenient. Also, I was told that 1) the car was designed to ride on them and 2) that anything but would be a softer ride. I don't know if any of that's really true. Surprised by the price of Dunlops, from tirebuyer.com I purchased Perelli Pzero Nero All Season P225/50R17 for about the same price as a high quality non-run flat. I had them shipped directly to my Lexus dealer. I now have 2000 miles on them and am very happy.
  4. Re: 2008 GS 350 AWD Pressing the ODO/TRIP button (located on the drop-out panel left of the steering wheel) (after pressing the ignition button twice to get dash power) within 6 seconds does not prompt a ODO display for me. Does anyone have a suggestion? Turn Off Seat Belt Buzzers: (a) Driver and front passenger side seat belt buzzers (1) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. (2) Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer displays "ODO". (3) Turn the ignition switch off. (4) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. (5) Press the ODO/TRIP switch immediately (within 6 seconds) and hold it down for 10 seconds or more. (6) Continue holding down the ODO/TRIP switch and fasten the driver side seat belt. (7) Check that the odometer displays either "b-on" or "b-oFF". (8) Press the ODO/TRIP switch to change the display to "b-oFF". (9) Turn the ignition switch off. (10)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. (11)Check that no buzzer sounds. ( B) Front passenger side seat belt buzzer (1) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 5. These are the voice commands for my 2008 IS 250 AWD. Lexus_voice_commands.pdf
  6. After a installation and purchase price comparison between several dealerships, I found a low of $500 and a high of $875 for the exact same product. Might be best to shop around.
  7. I tried to take the general feedback to heart and ignore the sound but I can hear it almost all the time, especially when idling. The dealership acknowledged that the effect exists and said there was nothing more that can be done. They claimed to have contacted a regional techinician who said that it was known but a fix did not exist. I asked the dealership if there was anything else I could do and they told me to call Lexus customer service, which I did. Lexus called me back two weeks later and said that they had contacted both the dealership and their tech team and that my issue has been reported and will remain on file without a current solution. Perhaps I should mention that in spite of this problem, this is the most wonderful car I have ever owned.
  8. I use "The Shade" on all my cars. www.dashdesigns.com or www.jcwhitney.com
  9. Bartkat's response(s) that he didn't think of it as an issue and that it's considered normal for the 2008 IS 250 seems to be the opinion at the dealership, too. One tech said he could hear it and another said he couldn't. They found nothing wrong with the air conditioning system, the ventilation or the fan. They told me they made no adjustments and that I should keep an eye on things and keep them informed.
  10. I'm taking this issue to the dealer and will see what happens. I hope that others will, too. I'll keep this forum informed. It shouldn't do this.
  11. New 2008 IS 250 AWD. When the air conditioning is on and the vent is open (not set on recirculate), there is a pulsing sound. It's almost as if I can sense the air pressure changing. It sounds like you're five or more cars from a train while it's crossing; not too faint but present. To stop the pulsing sound: open a window, set to recirculate or turn off the air conditioning. It’s definitely not the ticking sound from under the hood. Any opinions?
  12. I've tried the heat method on my 2008 IS. The visor material seems unique and the sticker appears to be fused. Any help or tips from others would be appreciated. Funny how it bothers some but not others. It drives me crazy. I'll be lloking for a cover.
  13. Thanks to all. Very helpful dialogue for me.
