  1. I think I saw a video or step by step, maybe here on how to do this? Can someone point me in that direction?
  2. Anybody know where that video is on how to flush a LS400 transmission????
  3. I appreciate your replies, I am going to switch to the Toyota IV regular fluid I think, gradually doing it in three drains, I think the synthetic is dangerous after the car has run 217K most probably with regular Toyota fluid or Dex I think would cover the 95% of possibilities. I can't afford the flush, nor do I have anyone around here that I trust, this being Orange County, people don't rank in the altruistic around here, it's all about how much money they can get from you. Thanks again.
  4. I have a 94 LS400 with 217K and recently learned that my mechanic used Dex III when doing a transmission pan only and filter change. Since I have no idea what this percentage was mixed with originally should I leave it alone or is it important to get the Dex slowly with multiple changes to Toyota IV? It shifts a little hard when cold and a little slip from first to second, there is a bit of a smell, but I don't want to make things worse than they are. I have read threads relating to this fluid difference and it doesn't appear to be a clear cut judgment of what to do in this case.
  5. I will be sure to let you know what I discover since I am concerned about damaging my engine I am having it looked at Saturday.
  6. About half of the time you feel like someone is kicking the floor under your left resting foot when the car starts at the end of a "crank", you usually hear a dull thud, other times it starts fine, my mechanic says the starter is operational and isn't the type of guy that relates to it just not being the way it used to be, if it works that's the end of it, but he's cheap and around the corner, usually comes to the house, but I think I will let him drive it over the weekend to see what I mean. Something definitely has changed the past month, he just installed a new fan bracket and I sometimes think maybe a belt isn't on just right, but I don't understand enough of the mechanics to follow the thought through in my mind to decide if that's a logical possibility. 94 LS400, 218,000 miles, 2nd owner.
  7. I am experiencing the same thing, since it still starts I am hoping a belt isn't tight enough because the whole top of the engine has to come off, doing it Saturday.
  8. I want to replace the fan bracket myself on my 91 Lexus LS400, Can anyone tell me specifically what tools are needed and any diagrams or instructions for the "How to"? I'll settle for a list of tools and try and figure it out.
