  1. You know what, I've been experiencing better mpg than usual over here in NJ - weird...but I'll take it...
  2. Most people lower their cars mostly for physical looks, but it also gives the car more ground stability, control and less body roll. Of course this only happens if you use quality parts and do it right! In my opinion I would go for 19's. The GS is a big automobile and 18's look small to me. Again that's my 2 cents!!
  3. I have just heard of this place www.autolights4u.com, they sell the headlights - supposedly the same as OEM. A friend of mine just ordered a set, so I will keep you posted on fitament and quality. Prices are much cheaper than the OEM dealership version.
  4. Also, are you what type of gasoline are you using, I notice my mpg improves a lot when i use super versus regular or plus.
  5. Another way to increase your mpg is to clean your MAF sensor and throttle body plate. I heard that works wonders, most likely I'm going to do that next weekend!
  6. Yeah, I can't decide!!!! Heard that philips had a supposedly "X-treme" bulb for halogen lights that puts out 80% more than factory halogens. Maybe I'll check that out first before I decide..Thanks man!
  7. First I was planning on just buying an aftermarket HID kit, but I read many complaints of unwanted glare all over the place. Then I was thinking about buying projector headlights off ebay - but then heard they're junk! Many people recommend the retrofit. I was browsing through and realized that this may take some time. My first question deals with the projectors themselves, any good models to pick from so they fit pretty good such as Acura TSX, Audi etc. I know I will have to cut the housing myself, but some manufacturers like BMW and Mercedes have giant back pieces to the projectors! Also do I need a bi-xenon projector? what are the benefits (still learning!!)? I figured the first step is buying/finding the projectors and the shrouds, then that will force me to make the time to retrofit!! Then there's the harness, seen a couple of custom ones on ebay - I'm sure one of those may do. Please share your thoughts! Thanks!!
  8. Going to have to try this...Not sure which audio system I have though... 2000 GS300, I know there is a sub woofer attached to rear deck and cd changer in glove box..
  9. I've used Meguiars Plastx for years, it works great! Sweet thanks! I just picked up a bottle at Pep Boys!
  10. I was considering this one on ebay as well? Any thoughts you HID vets?? what type of things should I be looking for? Cheap one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-HID-C...sspagenameZWDVW Littile bit pricey (any big differences?) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MTEC-HID-CO...sspagenameZWDVW

  12. The steel wool won't scratch your glass. I used a regular Brillo pad with water, you can also go to like a home depot and get a steel wool 00 pad. Very fine grade!
  13. NICE body kit!! I'm considering the HID conversion kit as well. What brand kit is that?
  14. Anyone ever use meguiars Plastx to remove light hazing/oxidation on headlights? I seen some forums on the internet where people actually wet sand their lenses, and polish. But I have also heard that this can remove the UV coating and cause you to sand and polish more often. Any thoughts? I have some very light spots on my headlights I would to possibly get out. Thanks!!
  15. I am definitely doing this!! Steel wool and paint thinner? I can see the chrome under my chips!! Wow, sounds easy but my hands will probably be sore from scrubbing!! Thanks for the tip!
  16. Not sure if this forum already has this topic or not. But I thought I would share some valuable information with you guys regarding tint removal. Today I spent a few hours removing the dark tint from my 2000 GS300 myself since the going price at a shop is $225-250. I decided to remove it because in New Jersey, it's illegal to have the 2 front windows tinted. Tired of being pulled over and don't like the look of only the rear windows being tinted. After plenty of googling, I used a procedure that I actually had seen on YouTube.com that requires no chemicals or razor blades. So that means no risk of damaging your leather interior, your health or scratching your windows! Items Needed: * Steamer * 2 ply cotton gloves and latex gloves * Tweezers * Steel wool pads (brillo) * Clean rags and maybe some goo-gone * Windex I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and bought a 1400w steamer for about 70 bucks, they have cheaper ones too ($39) but I'm going to return it tomorrow anyway as soon I get the moisture condensation out! All you have to do is be patient and give the entire inside of the window an overall steam for about 5 minutes. Let the tint sweat - this loosens up the adhesive behind the tint and allows you to pull off slowly leaving no adhesive residue on your window. This will better your chances of peeling off the tint in one piece. Steam the top left corner real good and use your tweezers to start peeling that corner away. Continue to steam and pull SLOWLY!! This way the adhesive will stay on the tint not the glass, I pulled the first one off too fast and had some adhesive on my glass, had to use goo-gone and a steel wool pad to remove. The steamer works especially well for the rear window, there is no chance of damaging your defroster or radio antenna lines!! Razor blades can cut these lines and your basically done. In some cars you can remove the rear deck and get in real close. I realized that the GS300's back seat doesn't fold down, but the rear deck brake light pops right out with some wiggle! Tight squeeze back there but the steam floods a lot of the glass making it much easier than I hand anticipated!! Be sure to wear the cotton gloves with the latex gloves over them, this allows your gloves to stay dry during the steaming, trust me that bad boy gets super hot! If you have any adhesive left on your glass, prep it with some goo gone - let it sink in and wipe it down with a clean rag. If the glue is stubborn you can either use a steel wool pad with some water or steam the glue and wipe it down. When your finished, be sure to clean you windows with a coat of your favorite glass cleaner!! Then sit back and appreciate the $225 bucks you saved!! Well worth it. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to help anyone out there who was contemplating tint removal. Ryan-
  17. Thanks brian! I'm going to check that out. Cant get the link to work, error message on ebay, do you still have the seller's name?
  18. He said only his case was cracked, not his key and that he was able to still use it! With my GS key, you can take the key and transponder out and replace it into a new shell. I'm really not sure if his key looks like mine with the actual remote functions, but it was just an idea!
  19. Hi guys!! New to club and new to Lexus in general. I must say I love my 2000 GS300. I only had it for a couple of weeks, It's antique mica bronze in color. Great shape and is definitely fun to drive. Funny story on how I acquired this car. My father is like the ultimate hustler. He always comes across rare types of situations. Prime example, his lady neighbor owned this Lexus for a few years, she then fell behind in her payments and the car was about to get repo'd. My father swooped in and paid her balance at the dealer who financed her - balance was like 6 grand!! I then traded him my 2001 Honda Accord Ex with 118,000 miles for this 2000 GS300 with 88,000!! I think it was a sweet deal!!! :D After driving the Lexus GS300, I realized I have been missing out on life!!! The memory steering wheel feature has to be one of my favorite features!! Kind of freaked me out at first because I wasn't expecting it to move at all. This car is definitely fun to drive!! I wanted to know exactly what the 90k maintenance included and how much does it usually run?? Thanks for reading and I look forward to reading and posting more threads!! Future
  20. Hello All!! I'm new to the club, recently acquired my first Lexus! I really am interested in a set of Aftermarket HID kits for my 2000 GS300, but honestly do not know which brands are good. I keep hearing that all those ones from China are garbage. I have also heard that certain types will initiate errors in your vehicle. Any experience and tips of where and what brand to buy? MTEC for example? I'm looking for something white and not too blue, so probably 6000 kelvin? I have been on ebay, craigslist (carkings LLc), just wanted some opinions from Lexus owners themselves. Thanks in advance!!! :D
  21. Ebay sells some aftermarket replacement keys, maybe even a salvage yard, just swap out your transponder and key - just like new!!
