  1. bs79s, I would go GS all the way - as a former owner of a few Mercedes, anytime you take it in for repair, you're looking at $1000 easily. As with any European (and especially German cars), no matter what, the parts are going to be outrageous - I have a buddy who is an Audi freak and he is constantly having to shell out money for repairs on those vehicles (just shelled out another $1k on his S4 a few weeks ago) - I'm trying to show him the light with Lexus... At any rate, with 44k miles you'll be safe for a few years, but once the odometer rolls 90k or so, look out!
  2. bdhill390, I've accidentally done gotten the tires to break loose in my wife's ES - a few times on the old tires. There is a spot on the way to work at a stop sign, going uphill so whenever the roads were slick, it was drift-city :) I used to drive a few American Muscle cars, so it was kind of fun at the time but, of course the Lexus does exactly what it's supposed to and immediately corrects the situation, but hey, that's why they're such amazing machines. Aside from that, keep in mind anytime you're racing someone else or just playing around, the better the tires stick to the road, the more power you transfer to the pavement (which is why this car is so peppy and you can pull away from most of the other street cars pretty easily in the GS)
  3. GSNoles - thanks for the insight on the market here - I'm actually starting to research buying a GS here myself, and I appreciate the information!
  4. Skillydog, Thanks for the great advice - I appreciate your input here. I can definitely live without the nav and backup camera - I think I'll be too busy staring at the car and/or speedometer to notice (what an amazing automobile)! Also, any guidance for me about paying the right price? Just curious here and I'll proceed cautiously - thanks again for the input.
  5. Does anyone have any advice on what I should be on the lookout for? Also, being in cold winter areas, I am wanting the all wheel drive so any input is appreciated!
  6. Ditto on the 91 octane - enjoyed about 10% more mileage out of a gallon/tank on average
  7. I agree with gkub on that one - the only way to get to the bulbs/housing is from underneath (thank goodness for the under-truck clearance). That being said, if you've got a creeper or somethig, it should be too bad. You'll have to reach up and around some parts, but you'll be able to feel your way to it. Hope that helps!
  8. Awesome thanks for the tip!
  9. Bruces10, I am interested in the same thing as I get a constant reminder to get my Nav updated but last time I checked with the dealer they wanted $475 for the new DVD (which I'm really hoping to not have to pay...)
  10. Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of the "cloudiness" on the wood portion of the steering wheel? It seems that my car doesn't have as nice a finish as it could in the steering wheel, which I'd like to shine up if anyone has some tips? Let me know if you get a second. Thanks!
  11. Still having the same issue on this one - so if anyone else has this occurance, let me know - thanks!
  12. So we dumped in two new cans of 134a tonight - going to monitor the cool air output over the week... My mechanic seems to think that there may be a small leak somewhere, but has the "sniffer" to look for it if I'm still losing cold air. I'll keep everyone posted and thanks again for the input!
  13. You guys rock - thanks for the help on all fronts. We're going to try to charge the system tonight - and go from there...
  14. Excellent - thanks for the input guys - I have a few feelers out - but may be calling on your assistance sometime this week!
  15. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get a power window motor? I want to use the dealership as a last resort to save $$$, but wanted to see if anyone had any online parts places, etc., that may be good... Thanks!
