  3. I am selling my cherished 2006 GS430, was hoping to see it go to a LOC member since I have enjoyed the company of all.. New addition to family coming and along with the Dog its time for an SUV. The Car..Matador on Black, Navi, Mark Lev, Cooled Seats, Parking Sensors, most all of avail. options except adaptive cruise. ALL SERVICE DONE at TAMPA BAY LEXUS dealer since birth..If its been done, its in the computer at any Lexus dealer. I also have the Lexus Platinum Warr.(most comprehensive one) which is a 0$ deduct. Never used thus far. The warranty runs through November 2011. 70,900k Miles. I drive about 65 miles a day for work 80% on the hwy. Looking for 23k Never in any accident of any kind..Extremely well maintained. Please feel free to ask questions and look for pictures later or email me if your serious. I do have a timeline on it before I have to go the online listing route..But if you want-bring a fair offer. I will not be providing any sort of shipping I am NOT a dealer of any kind so please understand I cant do any exotic payment options or delivery options. I am in Tampa Bay FL. Thanks for reading. GS
  4. Johnny , if your still looking let me know if you have any interest in my 06 430 , she's loaded ML,NAV, etc..All service records from Tampa bay Lexus since day one and I have the platnium Lexus ext. Warranty that's transferrable as well. Send me a PM or your email. I'd rather see someone on the LOC get my baby.
  5. i too looked for about a month or two..The ones I wanted to try were out of stock or out of my price range for me last month..I stumbled on set of Dunlop SP 01's used (80%) tread for nearly nothing (150$) So took a shot at em..they are run Flats..and rough in ride for my taste but I was willing to give them a shot for a spring and summer..I will use em thru the rain season here in FL and replace in the winter with non run flats for sure. I was looking at the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 that tested well in Car and Driver's last tire test or the Potenza RE760 Sport is probably what i will try next winter. Good luck..let me know what you decide!
  6. Nick, Last week my sunroof started to act up. I have the same exact problem..62k miles..going to take to dealer this week and make use of my plat. warranty..other than this and some rattles the car has no issues.
  7. I owned a 35 before my GS430..the infinity is VERY thirsty. Heck my 430 does a bit better. For measure I avg. 22mpg with 60-40 city/hwy at best right now with a heavy foot.. Ive gotten 29 hwy going 75 on road trips..the trade off in mpg is well worth it for Lexus imo. I owned an 2006 35 and got 17 on a GOOD week in the car with a 60-40 mix. I did better in my vette.. BOL hunting. Update- New commute for me now..Im at about 80-20 City now..Im getting 21 on avg this month..I must say the commute is mostly me going about 50mph in the city and not a ton of lights at night..
  8. esowers- My pleasure..Everyone here at the LOC was good to me in my seach. im just trying to pay it forward. There are a lot of deals on ebay lately that Ive noticed. Not so much auto trader..You are probably looking for an AWD in CHI? There are a few AWD's that are pretty slow to move here in FL..Most of them being 06 300's..The local dealer here in the bay area and sarasota both end up selling most of theirs on ebay to northerns online when they cant move them here. I was scared to purchase a car on ebay sight unseen but the best thing is to find a car within 200 miles of you listed as an "ebay classified" NOT an auctual ebay "auction". Hoof it out and go see it and make them an offer if you like it! You dont have to transact on ebay. I got lucky finding someone who lived 12 miles from me the day after he listed it-I drove it and bought it the next day. He had it listed for 2 days..An ebay private pty classified deal takes some anxiety out of the transaction..You pretty much have to go 2 to 3 years old to get a real decent depreciation discount on the GS's.. one year old GS's certified are not going to be discounted enough to make sense over a brand new one..At least not here in FL..Good luck and Happy hunting!
  9. Thanks ron! I may be getting a new project SC toy!!
  10. Ron, If you still have the service may I ask you to check a vin for me please? Thank you for your help! VIN= JT8UZ30CXP0034801
  11. I went through the same ordeal for over 5 months..SO I feel your pain. I knew what i wanted but just simply could not afford to pay what they were asking for a CPO. I scoured ebay and autotrader and even craigslist 3 times a day. my suggestion still is with some luck and patients, hold out for a private party car and the heck with the salesman at the dealer. In this economy ppl dont NEED luxury cars.. the dealers were still acting like it was 2006 When I was in there 6 months ago...I tried everything and they acted as if they were selling me a hybrid and doing me a favor by taking 1k off their asking price. Just buy the warr from lexus directly. Its not the same exact as a cpo but the Platnium is indeed a lexus warranty with VERY few exclusions. It covers the mark lev, navi, back up camera etc..Thats expensive stuff if they break. and all cars break sometimes, even our beloved Lex's. The drivetrain in these cars are very good though. SO I "settled" for a 06 over..with more miles than I wanted but with the waranty I have piece of mind like a cpo. Find one with less than 50k on the clock and your golden. Also its hard to find the exact color and options we always want so if your flexible on that there are some on ebay 06's if your ok with the 430. The 430's are rolling out of warr now so they are dropping in price the last quarter ive noticed.. Find a 430 with a in service date thats 3 months away from being out.. one that has ANY factory left even if its a month- or a few 1000 miles and lock it up. ITs better than paying 37k for an 07. Thats just my 2cents!
  12. Lookin at sc400-93-94's or 1998-99 400/300.. Any major things I should look for in terms or reliability differences or maintance? Also any real ideas how long the 93 may go if clean.. Saw one with 130 K. On the clock that looked clean, but I've never bought a car with over 65 on the clock! Any advise is appreciated from the LOC!
  13. Good deal IMO..I paid 27k for mine 7 mo's ago with 12k more miles!
  14. The 3.0 is far slower than the 3.5 and 430..Especially around town (usable torque). I would go with the AWD in NY though..I love my 430 and the smooth torque uptake and have always bought RWD cars.. Just my choice..But then again I live in FL :) I actually enjoy the choice of sport ride vs the standard setup in mine. I will say the normal set up is ok, but its nice to have the option of making it roll a bit less around the corners. The 430 is a strong and proven block. You wont have to worry about its durability. You will pick up a few more mpg's in the 350 but in the city its not huge imo. HWY I get 27 in mine and get about 19 in town with a heavy foot. Hope this helps. Good luck in your search!
  15. Im about 7k mi deep on the Ake ceramics..and I gotta say im pretty thrilled with them. NO DUST, great stopping power ( ive had two emergency stops in them already avoiding FL drivers!) and they are totally noise free. Def recomend them if you are looking for pads Steve!
  16. I looked for about 5 months at the 3 diff GS models..I started looking at 300..then drove an 07 350 and wanted the power. But didnt have the money..I found a 1-owner clean private party 2006 430 that was loaded. Bought it with 45k mi for 27K then bought the Lexus plat warr through Toby at shreveport lex. Great guy to deal with and I highly reco him. I shopped around he was the cheapest and was very cordial and it took 5 mins over the phone. I am very happy with my 430 and to be honest the 350 I drove, actually FELT slower (less torque) than my 430. The car is very reliable thus far other than a rattle that my dealer took care of. The milage differance in the 430 vs 350 is almost identical btw. I think the best deals are on the 430's and just get a ext warr from LEX. Good luck!
  17. Oh I didnt realize they had a rotor change...I will def. give an update on performance after a month or so!
  18. The dealership will have all the info on the TSB but it applies to the 2007 and 2008 GS. If you have a 2006, then just put your ake's on. Your personal information only states that you have a GS but fails to state the year, I was assuming due to the dust problem that you had an 07 or 08. I found a previous post that I think you state you had an 06. steviej Steviej, You are correct-I have the 430 not a 07...Didn't know if they are diff. than the 07 or not or if the V8 was heavier etc...BUT the first owner told me he originally had a noise problem, and they put on softer pads at no charge at the dealership but they are just too dusty for me..So I was thinking these are the soft 07 pads everyone is talking about...Cant see Lex making a softer pad thats diff than the 07 since theyre still basically the same car and HP etc...I think im going to guinea pig the ake's since ive already paid shipping and have never had ceramics..My father has had them on his E55 which is a pretty heavy car for 2.5 yrs without any issues or rotor damage. I will report back after new years
  19. very reputable name. I beleive akebono actually makes the Toyota/Lexus pads. Ceramics are great except they can be very harsh on the rotors so don't be surpirsed if you are replacing rotors in the next 25k miles. You will see a dramatic decrease in the amount of dust. steviej Thanks as always steviej.. I got them yesterday in the mail..Im going to put them on next week though.. they are oem so to speak for toyota I confirmed..Going on the GS on monday though..Just too much to do during xmas. And dont want to break in ceramics on my road trip to orlando this weekend in case something odd happens...My pads are good for another 1-2k per the dealer inspection, but figured Id just get rid of them now because the dust is just crazy..Worse than my BMW was. Had my first dealer service at Lexus of Tampa Bay in Clearwater and for 50 bucks they changed the oil, cleaned the car, and did the fluids and fixed my Navi rattle all in 4 hrs with a loaner..I was thrilled..Top notch lexus treatment..It was like royalty compared to the bmw and infiniti (nightmares) I had recently. Glad to be 4 miles from a solid lexus dealer! Happy Hoilidays to all!! did you check into the most recent TSB from Lexus for the dusty brake pads, you might have been able to get new pads for free. steviej Thanks stevie, Wr might I find the TSB? I can still return mt ake's as they arent going on the car till next week..They will replace the hi dust pads for free?? Is that what you have? DO they make noise though? THanks in advance
  20. I think you can beat them up on price, given the economy. I paid (overpaid I think) $35,500 for that exact car about 6 months ago except it was an awd. Every option except radar cruise and parking sensors. Mine had 20k on the clock. only 16k on a 2006? That is extrememly low mileage, but I wouldn't pay a penny over $30,000. You'll see other people post here that you can get that car for $25,000 or even less. I dunno, apparently some people have access to a secret supply of used GS3's that are $10,000 below Kbb. It is an AWD. I checked thier carfax and says only one owner. It did have the front and rear pads replaced and rotors cut when the dealer got it in Nov of this year. I figure the low mileage and the fact that it needed brakes front and back, means it was probably used in the city or short trips with alot of braking. My other concern was the fact that when the dealer got it in November, they replaced both the front pads and rear pads and resurfaced all the rotors and installed two new tires. The car only has 16,000 miles on it and it leads me to beleive it was probably used for local driving or city driving since all the brakes at to be replaced at such low mileage. I checked their carfax and it shows one owner, leased and only had the routine maintenace done each year. Also, Find a private owner and you'll save a bundle! It took me 4.5 months of looking but it sounds like you may not have that option. The GS300 gets good HWY but the awd does only get avg in city...I went with the 430 due to minimal city mi. penalty..I avg about 19 in 90% hwy...Its a roll of the dice on the warranty...other than minor things nothing is major on these cars from my research and the board can attest to this. Im going to probably buy the plat lexus ext. warr from the FI guy in schreveport sp.? LA just in case.. buts its more for peace of mind and electronics...I have a loaded one with everything but radar cruise...I dont want my navi or tranny in a yr and coming outta pocket. For approx 1800-1900 to me its worth it...You cant go wrong with the GS for comfort over the is...if you need a big seat and plan on having a usable backseat go for the GS.

  22. Thank you. I just picked my car up and will have to check back with them to make sure they used these pads. How many more miles (avg.) should you expect from these pads. I really appreciate the information Awaysack ...but the difference is small and they will squeak when stopping but the longevity and cleanliness of the rims is a worthy trade off unless you are hyper critical about performance then stick with the high friction pads. Anthony Not sure I'm a fan of the squeaking part...Not cool to be pulling in a parking lot with the car squeaking as you brake to stop...it gets annoying at times.. aftermkt!!!! I have the soft pads...aka the hi dust pads.. they are almost worn out..I just ordered some akebono ceramics..anyone ever used them?
  23. Hey-Has anyone used their iphone 3G with the vais? Im not too tech savvy...I have and 06 with the NAV and ML and want to make sure I get the right one---is this the same thing as getting a regular ipod hooked up to the vais? I want to get a iphone this week and get the vais adaptor and will be using it as my primary ipod (16g) I Was going to get a 16 G Nano just for the car but figured why not just get the iphone and have it all??
  24. Thanksgiving came early fellas...I got the car on wed day before turkey day :) Took my road trip on sat and everything worked out great. Smooth as can be and great passing power on the highway...I had 3 ppl in my luggage loaded G with the ac on the whole day and was driving like a madman and still averaged 24.5 mpg..Was impressed for a car of this weight and power...First impressions are the seats are GREAT...Its very tight for a car with 47k miles and tracks straight as an arrow. In power ect mode its very responsive yet still smooth. Great for road trips. FYI-I have 2 bulging discs in my back and had no pain at all even though on the way back I was behind the wheel on I-10 for 7 hrs in stop and go traffic...She's getting detailed and tinted this weekend and i'll post some pics. -GS
