  1. sounds like a virus. Perhaps you've been spammed. Better reboot and prepare to reformat...... ;)
  2. I'm late with this, but you could try NOVUS. It is an excellent plastic cleaner and polisher system. It's only about $24 for the #1, #2 and #3 bottles. I used it on my headlights with great results!
  3. this is a thread with some great info. thanks to everyone for their input here!!! BA
  4. I've not cleaned my 99 yet, but expect to this late spring/early summer. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
  5. yeah, thi ssounds familiar! this was asked just a week or two ago. There are a couple of other bolts at the bottem that you cannot get to unless you remove the rear seat 'bottem' piece. it's a bit tricky to get out, you have to push the front edge DOWN, and then BACK with some force. if you get your head down there and gvie it a little lift, you might even be able to see the way the bottem piece is hooked in.
  6. R'ingTFM now. On page 100 of 280. I forced the wipers down and they did go down, just had to push harder than I would have thought. Didn't want to break anything! uh, thanks?
  7. I'm not having any luck with the search feature. I recall that there are some codes that we can do, or special sequence of actions to do certain things to our cars. (I have a 99 GS400) ie. 1. "winter wipers" vs summer wipers. Mine are now in winter mode I believe. 2. changing the function of the unlock on the remote. 3. I'm sure there's more. Can someone lead me to these codes. The more the better, but I really just want my wiper blades back down! :)
  8. most replaced parts, new replacements, would have a decal affixed to them As a matter of fact, it SEEMS like I recall seeming some factory LEXUS decals or something up on the inside of my rear bumper cover when I was under there last. You should get a flash-light and look under there. I agree with the above though. If it's a lighter color, it may have just been a repaint, not a replace. I do not know of any way to check for that UNLESS it was done at a Lexus Dealer for which it should have a service record that your local Dealer could check for you based upon your VIN. It's a national Lexus Database.
  9. So, I decided to paint my calipers red on the ol' GS400. I've seen the paint shown on Lextasy and at Eastwood, made by Plasti-kote, called "Brake Calilper Paint". I've also seen a "kit" on Ebay but the brand is unknown. Lastly, there is a well known person using Chrysler Red Engine Paint, made by Color-Rite I think. On it's label, it says "good to 500 degrees" and "ceramic". Supposedly it's better than the 'brake caliper paint' which reportedly will only last a year or so before flaking off. Anyone here using paint on your calipers? If so, which brand, and how do you like it??? Thanks!
  10. What do you guys feel is a fair price for a factory rear spoiler. Seems like you can get a replica for 80 bucks, not painted. Add around $100 for a painted version. What would a good used factory spoiler bring 'on the market'? I read that the dealer price is outrageous, something like $800.
  11. I had typed up a reply to this! Perhaps I didn't 'send' it. Anyway, I was just going to say that the RodMillen (RMM) mufflers sounded very nice at his website. Not too loud at all, really low burble unless you were heavy into the gas. I've heard an Apexi in person and thought it was too loud. I heard an AC Schnitzer on a BMW540 (also an alum. V8 I think) and it sounded really, really good! I will try to get the AC Schnitzer on the Lex first, then go with the RMM next. (unless I hear RMM uses someone elses mufflers, then I'll just go there!)
  12. yup, contrast and nite seettings I'd bet......
  13. lots of good stuff here too. can't speak to the quality or manufacturer though, but I may get a couple and check them out. (scroll down about 9 pages for the wedges and more.....) http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/sto...cgi?product=CAR
  14. looks like you're right, I didn't see LED at Polarg.
  15. Well, unless anyone has any advice, I will be ordering some Eibach springs on Monday. I think the price was $239 from a local shop. I'm not looking for much of a stiffer ride, I'd like it to be close to stock but a little stiffer is ok. I'm also going to order up a buncha 194 wedge bulbs. :) and probably some caliper paint since the wheels will be off. Ordered clear side marker light covers a little bit ago. :)
  16. yeah, if it's the "ping, Ping Ping" or "Tink, Tink, Tink", I think it's normal contraction of the parts. Is it hot where you're at? got plenty of coolant?
  17. Thanks for the link LexinTex, I needed the education! Seems like, for my preference, things might get a little TOO bright with 6 LED's. I hope you post some links when you get them installed! I wonder how many are in the Polarg? I'll check the site I guess! ;)
  18. uh-oh. " 6led white/blue LED wedges" I'm confused. I didn't know they made them with 6 like that. Syph, do you run a 'standard' blue wedge?? Do I really know what I'm talking about?
  19. the 0-60 might be very close, but I believe the 60-?? would all be Benz. isn't that Benz a helluva lot lighter than the GS? Mods to the GS would be in order.... (ECu, exhaust, etc)
  20. I will absolutely sell my rear spoiler right now. It's the '99 Silver. You can email me at sportbikeral@hotmail.com so we don't muck up the thread if you want. Allan
  21. No offense, but I think it's just an illusion dude. I had heard the same about mine. ("they're dull on the inside") I had tried some maguiers and crest toothpaste to no avail. Novus works really well.
  22. I've got a silver one from my 99 GS400! Interested? :)
