  1. My thoughts: the shake caused by the suspension piece should only be felt when NOT on the brakes. Shakes when on the brakes are more than likely going to me MORE caused by the rotors. (admittedly, the worn bar bushings probably aren't helping though) It's a diagonal bar that I believe goes from the back side of the front suspension and mounts towards the middle of the car. (like it's pointing to the opposite corner rear wheel) I have not heard of an ECU correction for the hesitation. I have only heard of people (myself included) driving almost 100% in Power Mode, and with VSC OFF. You could then pull the fuse for the ECU as well for about 30 min and then be sure to drive 'spiritedly' for quite a while.
  2. one potential place.....ya could at least call them,...is Performance Suspension Technology. www.p-s-t.com they do polyurethane bushings for many cars, just not sure if they got the Lex covered or not. I've used their product before and it's definitely good stuff.
  3. I can vouch for the company a little in that I've ordered from them and I'm happy with the shipping and product. Sorry to say that I've not used that particular LED though. I do have some of their white and blue.
  4. i would call that more than mere coincidence. <_<
  5. heheh. I just noticed the "from" email address of my latest topic notice. IT'S YOU Matt!! lol! 7. I went to the control panel and of course found all kinds of stuff but I didn't see anything that specifically said something to the order of "stop new topic notifications". These are not one's I'm posting in, these are new thread notices. I don't even know why they started! :cries: Please help! Pictures for the dumb really help, else some really good instructions! :)
  8. FWIW, I noticed a Borla exhaust for around 450 - 498 on one of the websites I was at yesterday. So, the $421 is good, but maybe not the steal I was thinking. either www.hotupracing.com or www.i-m-racing.com EITHER WAY - I just ordered the HKS Hiper mufflers for only $539!!!! clicky
  9. From the prices I've been seeing for other brands, not necessarily Borla, that price seems great! Just check to see if it is mufflers only, or a cat-back system. Can't hurt to make sure it has the chrome tips. Wouldn't want ya to get ripped off. Is "Borla" stamped into the muffler??? (some method of identifying authenticity)
  10. Jay, both those guys are super knowledgeable and completely right. This car had to have been totaled. That doesn't mean a train hit it, just that the cost to rebuild was close to, or over, the average retail price of the car. I agree, you should run from it. btw, Toyota/Lexus engines are good for very high mileage. So are Honda/Acura engines and to my knowledge, certain Nissan engines. (not necessarily Mitsu though) My 91 Acura has 168,000 and has never leaked a drop of oil. Runs like a champ. My 99 Lexus GS400 now has 90,000 and as far as I am concerned, it runs and drives like new. :D
  11. that's a sweet setup brother! that's a lot of big-assed rocks too!! :) those don't grow on trees ya know!
  12. not to disect your question, but, from the sounds of it, you would really be concerned with the tires sidewall, not the diameter of the rim. a 20" rim seems to work best with 30 series, maybe a 35 series tire. Either one of those are short sidewalls. You can obviously find tires in 30-40 (45?) sidewall height for 18, 19 and 20" rims. (yeah, I'm fudging numbers just a hair for perspective) sounds like you want a good balance of ride quality and big rim. Sounds like 18 or 19 inches to me. (and an appropriate selection of coilovers or springs and new struts)
  13. I agree with these guys! I've used 20% once and was very happy. I've also used 35% twice and I have not been as happy. I will tint my GS400 at 20% when I do it soon,.......regardless of the laws here.
  14. Yup, been there, checked that! :) Thanks though! Any others out there?
  15. I'm searching the web now, but, has anyone here heard the HKS exhaust on a GS400. If so, can you tell me about what you heard and your thoughts on it? (I was leaning towards RMM or Tanabe just because of some sound clips and just found out about HKS) Any other thoughts on exhaust systems are welcome too! Let's make it a free-for-all!
  16. I am trying to decide between two grills. Either the "L-Sportline" version or the "L-Tuned" version. I've noticed that several companies make knock-offs but having never seen ANY of these in person, it's hard to tell how good they are, or how good they look. Here's a photo of a WIN grill, a Blitz grill and a L-Tuned grill, they all look the same to me! Does anyone have any advice here concerning quality, price, fit, looks, etc?
  17. They are all that way. I think it does that by design to prevent damage to the tranny. Toyota just doesn't want us forcing a downshift into 1st gear.
  18. Ok, so I didn't actually buy one yet, but I have a question about them, and about body mods/kits. I can't swing an entire body kit yet but I have a minor scrape on my front bumper cover which I want to fix. Do you think a GS400 would look 'wrong' with an L-Sportline front bumper cover but NO side skirts or rear cover?? The car is at least now lowered with Eibach springs if nothing else, :), and I'll probably get a different grill very soon as well. (make the whole front end less 'family car' -like) Also, Does the L-Sportline bumper cover give less ground clearance on the outside edges? (a point of trying to figure out if it would look 'out of place' without side skirts) Thanks! BA
  19. you know what man,..I've been thinkin'........that dealer should have given you a printout of your cars alignment spec's. We want numbers! yeah, yeah, I'm untrusting, but I won't have a guy tell me "it matches whats in the book". :) If you had the printout, hehe.....even of all three visits, you could then compare it to the next shop's findings AND we could compare them to what we think it should be. :)
  20. are all 4 tires wearing like this, or only the front? is the car lowered? With the wear being on the inside of the tire only, that would indicate camber problems, generally. (Right HRP?) It sounds like we can rule out cornering wear or over/under-inflation. I'd take it to a different shop as well to get a second opinion like was mentioned above. You could always ask for a camber adjustment of .5 or 1.0 degree's and see how that works for you.
  21. a great place to find parts for any car is the national network of used parts dealers. www.car-part.com
  22. dunno about the price. Seems about normal to me. (saw taillights at Lextasy.com for $380, so add some to that) Got the pic on the car this time, Looks really good!
