Yes, it is possible that your transmission is shifting badly because the mechanics put in the "wrong" (not toyota type-IV) transmission fluid when you had your transmission flush or your transmission could have other problems. But I would start with the minor fixes to the problem. As NC211 said, I would start by doing a transmission flush and put in the prescribed transmission fluid by your lexus dealer. Hope your problem is fixed with just a tranny flush!

Hello All: I'll get right to business. My 95 LS400 goes into all of the gears fine, except for drive. This includes going into reverse. I had a mechanic look into it and he took apart my central console, where the gear box is located, etc. He examined the ECU by putting the car into reverse ® and the ECU looked fine. However, when he place the car into drive (D) the car would not move but the ECU got really hot. Do you guys and gals think that there is a problem with the transmission or do you think that the problem could possilbly be the ECU itself? Because I know that the ECU has a lot to do with the transmission. My hope is that the transmission itself is not depleted but the ECU because it would be cheaper to replace or repair. Any suggestions or helpful answers would be great! Thanks for your help! Marcus

my car is a 95 ls400..180000 miles and since i had the car at 173000 i have changed the fluid once, only because there was a leak..im not with my car currently but i will be with my car in a couple days..but my car works in all the gears except drive, any ideas on what the problem could be?

I have been having lexus Ls 400 transmission (A341E) problems with my car since a month ago. I first started noticing transmission problems when I noticed smoke coming from under my car. I thought it was my catalytic converter but it wasnt. So I kept driving but not as much as usual. After that the drive (D) position started slipping. Then one day I put my car in reverse in then drive and the car wouldnt move. Could the (D) Drive gear be burnt out? What would cause my transmission to slip? What is wrong with the car if it wont go into drive but it will go into reverse? Should I clean my solenoids? Thanks for the help!! Marcus

I need to buy a 94(or younger) LS400 between 5000 and 6000 dollars. What are the specs on the car at this price range? (also i need the car to last at least 4 years, while i am in college)

Hello Lexus Owners this summer I am looking forward to buying a 1994 LS400. My spending range is between 5000 and 6000. I was wondering how much mileage would be on the car? What would be the typical cars condition? etc. Pretty much everything you guys know about owning a 94 Ls400.
