What's up doods, I haven't been here for a while. What happened???

Not really a big fan of the wagon myself, but nice lookin car. I'm sure you'll have fun with it :D

My dad and I looked at it today and we've come to the conclusion that it's the alternator belt. But now the crappy thing is finding one, because they usually go for around 200 bucks!! And we'll probably have to pay another sum of money for labor because mercedes had to make it complicated and just have one entire belt. So it's a !Removed! to put on.

Thanks awj. Yeah it's just annoying and embarrassing as hell when we start up the car in public and it makes that awful scream.

My dad has a 1992 500 SL with some what over 120k. Everytime he starts the car up there's this huge !Removed! whinning sound. It goes on for like 10 seconds until the car settles down. He's too stubborn to take it in to get fixed, plus we're kinda low on money, so i was wondering if I could do anything to find out what exactly is causing the problem and maybe I could fix it :D haha yeah right.

Yeah how come this board doesn't send us email notifications of new posts? Can any of you mods fix that? Just be more convinient, that's all :D

But from a dealership, do they normally let you take the car for a while to do all those things? By yourself? Maybe it's because i'm only 18, but all the time the sales people sit with me and tell me where to go. That's why i don't know what to do in those situations

What should you do when you take a car for a test drive? With the salesman in it at dealerships, and by yourself with private sellers? I've taken cars for test drives before, but always am afraid to test the car out with the salesman inside. Should you find some empty street and accelerate from 0-60 and see how it feels? Should you test out the braking by just hitting the brakes? Should you take tight corners? what do you guys normally do?
