  1. Any information on how to reset a Gen 4 ECU when the navi isn't working (stuck on the "Please insert correct map disc" screen) would be greatly appreciated... either by s/w (gen 4 recovery CD/DVD?) or by resetting the actuall nav unit. This is in the trunk in an RX400h like I have... I can't even get my fingers onto the unit, let alone reaching the wires/ribbon cables behind the unit... I'm not sure how I would remove the unit... I do have the ability to scrunch my hand in and load the DVD (which is what got me into trouble in the first place as, for some reason, Gen 4 systems don't like 5.1 os/7.1 map data hybrid DVDs... go figure). HELP!
  2. I am in dire need of the Gen 4 recovery CD if somebody could please tell me where to find it... PM me or email renzo67_at_gmail.com... Thanks in advance...
  3. I learned that the hard way... gotta figure out where the driver's side fusebox is so I don't need to do that again... I hope pulling the right fuse will reset my nav system... I did learn the trick of powering up and down all the other windows from the passenger controls to reset the driver's side control (see this post in the IS Forums: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...senger+windows). As always, this forum is a great place to find information if you dig for it...
  4. thanks for the reply katzjamr... i tried doing that, but it hasn't worked for me... something screwy going on, because now I've lost control of all passenger windows from the driver's door control pad - to open or close those windows... the driver's window works... Also, when I tried to unload my 5.1/7.1 Hybrid for the Gen4 that I made, I get a message to "Please insert correct map disc". I disconnected the battery again (about 10 minutes) and put in my 4.2 disc, but to no avail... taking into the dealer next week to reset/fix it up hopefully... i'll post whatever I learn afterward...
  5. OT from my post... I was wrong about the nav override as my 5.1/7.1 hybrid disk (which does give me the override option) does not allow me to actually USE the override - i.e. I hit "Addresses" in Destination and nothing happens... even when not in override mode, nothing happens (won't allow address input)... so that's pretty much useless...
  6. Here is what I believe is the situation. 2005 RX 330 has Gen 4, version 4.2 firmware and maps -- override works Gen 4, version 5.1 firmware and maps -- override works Gen 4, version 6.1 firmware and maps -- override fails Gen 4, version 7.1 firmware and maps -- override fails Gen 4, version 5.1 DVD has a file named loading.kwi. This file changed in version 6.1 which is why the override fails. The hybrid DVD takes the Gen 4, version 6.1 files and replaces its loading.kwi with the loading.kwi from the version 5.1 DVD. One has to burn this on DVD+R DL media at no more than 4X (burner must be able to DVD+R). Gen 4, version 6.1 + loading.kwi(version 5.1) = hybrid 6.1 DVD -- override works Theoretically, this will work with the version 7.1 firmware, but I have not had time to research that issue completely. My initial thinking is that some other changes have occurred that may prevent this hack from working. Also, once one loads one version the only way to go back a version is to remove fuse TV-1 for the Nav unit which powers it off and it will then do a complete reload when power is restored. The same could be accomplished by removing the battery cable and then replacing it. The problem becomes one of finding a version 5.1 and 6.1 DVD. I did find this site for downloading loading.kwi but have not had time to study it. So much for now. It is late. HTHs YMMV Mike Great post Mike !! that makes sense... now if I could only find a newer version than my 2005 RX330 Gen4 ver4.2.. I could give it a try.. Mike, any further research on this? I have Gen 4 and I've produced my own hybrid disk (5.1 loading.kwi file inserted into a 7.1 map data). I can get into the override screen (thru the Menu-Volume-corner-corner hack) and actually override the Nav system, but then that's it... this hybrid disk, for Gen 4 it seems, takes away any ability to actually enter in addresses once the system is overridden (and actually even if you don't do the override hack when the system starts, you can't input any addresses). Whatever works for a 5.1/6.1 hybrid has not carried over to 5.1/7.1 unless I'm mistaken.... If somebody has gotten this combo to work (7.1 maps/5.1 OS/Gen 4), I'd appreciate confirmation...
  7. I'm enjoying this forum and have learned lots to hack my 2006 Lexus RX400h (navigation override, seatbelt buzzer override). In another forum in the Lexus Owners Club, I was able to learn how to reset the driver's power window when the automatic stopped working - to press and hold the power window button till the window cycled (open full/close full and a click-like sound). I searched for the moonroof and, again, in another forum on this site, I read that I should do the same sort of thing with the slider for the moonroof. Unfortunately, this moonroof cycling trick doesn't appear to have worked (I've tried both with the Tilt button and Slide buttons, but to no avail). Do I have to bring this into the dealer or is one of the savvy posters in this forum knowledgeable in this area and willing to share what to do to get this power recycle back (btw, I've already reset everything - removing the negative line on the battery - when upgrading my nav DVD override, and that did not "fix" this or the driver's window though it did get me back my tilting windows for reverse and my headlight calibration when starting). Any assistance would be appreciated...
