  1. what you just detailed is the exact contents and procedure of the Clear View kit. steviej
  2. TireRack offered me the Ake's at half price. I am putting them on Sunday. A CL member in NV wants my discarded Hawk pads. It all works out fine. Hopefully the Ake's will be virtually dustless. steviej
  3. doesn't anyone read the owner's manual anymore? I have literally typed these directions for three different members in the past three weeks. sorry, just crabby and it is late. steviej
  4. I have had great success with a product called CrystalView. You can get it at Advance Auto Parts. It is about $20 for a packet that is enough to do a set of large headlights. It will take you about an hour. I have used it three times on three different cars and the results are quite spectacular. Keep in mind this product will only take care of the outside of the headlights. The older ES models sometimes fogged on the inside of the lens, hence the baking and opening. Most times the baking and opening was also done to "clear the corners" meaning remove the orange reflector on the side of the lens assembly. Try the Crystal View, you will be pleased. steviej
  5. naah, that's not dishonest, that's sales!! :P steviej
  6. did you black out the roof around the moonroof or did it come that way? steviej
  7. 10% last time I used it. steviej
  8. OMG! Bren. I am peeling like a moulting snake due to a sunburn, just got back from NYC with 85° weather and come home to you bumping a thread promoting snow tires. ARE YOU CRAZY MAN!!! let me finish the summer. :P steviej
  9. you should create a signature and list you mods. What did you do with the lighting to get the fogs to match the HID bulbs? steviej
  10. That is because the bank by the radiator ir Bank 2. see my previous post. If it is before the cat, that would be Sensor 1. Sensor 2 is down under the vehicle after the catalytic converter. If you put several applications of liquid wrench on the sensor right by the threads and let it soak in over a few minutes then walk away. come back in about 30 minutes. Use a long breaker bar or put some kind of extension on your socket wrench handle leverage should get it free.
  11. Is this the Check Engine Light or the Oil Maint. Required Soon light? If it is the oil light, DON'T step on the brake. now, open the accessory control panel door. Make sure you odometer is displaying total miles (not trip A or B ). press and hold the reset button. Simultaneously press the engine start key two times (DO NOT have your foot on the brake as you do not want to start the car). You will see the words Oil Maint. Reset. Keep you finger on the reset button until these words go away. Then take your finger off the button and press the engine start button one more time to put the ignition in the off position. Now start the car like you would to see if you reset was successful. steviej
  12. agreed. having other members look up carfax information is frowned upon. It is a disservice to Carfax. The dealer should be able to provide this upon request anyway. If they don't, don't buy or get them to go lower on the price. steviej
  13. If you out of warranty, then ask you dealership to roll your milage back in their computer to so that warranty will cover it. If you are out by time......I am sorry. steviej
  14. Turns out I only needed to replace the pads. Shims, lines and rotors were fine. However, 500 miles into a set of Hawk Performance Ceraminc Pads and I absolutely hate them. The give off more dust than a BMW or MB. Totally unacceptable for the price I paid. I am working with Tirerack to replace with Akebono ProACT ceramics or get a refund and just go back to stock. steviej
  15. but its a jag which means ford and I would rather not touch it until they can prove themselves once again. Jag has not built a reputable car in decades. steviej
  16. Bren, Let's see if you sing their praise next winter. The Valeo "no hinge" type of wiper are very disappointing in freezing temperature +moisture, contrary to their marketing. steviej
  17. IMHO, it will look very odd. I had a set of graphite wheels and put the stock silver center cap on them and they stuck out like a sore thumb. If it were my wheels, I would just get center caps that match. steviej
  18. according to Alldata.com, that TSB is listed for the 07 GS350 as well. Call your dealership before your warranty is up. Steve
  19. if it is peeling on its own, then it should be covered. Everything is covered except wear items. However, don't be surprised if the dealership tries to back out and deny the warranty claiming it is because you scraped a curb or something. Steve
  20. When I had this done, it was at 49,800 give or take 10 miles. That is what is so funny. Had I waited until the mileage went over 50k, they would not have covered it. The TSB has been out since November of 2007. It was not until May 2009 that I decided to take it in. I have ontly had the car since May 2008, but have noticed the mirror vibration but attributed it to the amount of bass I like. Just because there is a TSB, does not automatically mean the service or part is covered. If the car is under warranty, then it is covered. If the car is out of warranty, other factors have to be taken into consideration if a dealership is going to cover the work. For example, if the TSB is new for an older car, then they may cover it. If the TSB is old for a not so new car then they are not required to cover the parts or service. Don't confuse TSBs with safety recalls. Recalls are usually covered in full at any time. Steve
  21. The number listed under the Toyota name (85967 51020) lists here as 8596751020 MSRP $983.80 Price $836.23 Front lamps - Headlamp components - Computer Computer Back - Us built W/hid, w/adaptive lighting 2004 - 2009 However, the ES is not a US built car so that is contradictory. The 03 ES does not have adaptive lighting either. On the plus side, the 03ES, if it has HID does use the D2R bulb which is listed on the left side of the sticket next to the triangle symbol. If you search this same website under a 2003 ES for the same part you are directed here. Seems to be a major price difference in the part you bought. steviej
  22. why was your IACV not a problem before you disconnected the battery? steviej
  23. That's kinda how I get my motorcycle on the back of the truck when I am alone. If I face the truck the right way and put the ramps off the tailgate, it is just a shallow incline that I can walk the bike up easily. great minds think alike or necessity is the mother of ingenuity. steviej
