  1. Thanks smooth1 ... Will let u know how it turns out.
  2. here you go smooth1 ... thanks for looking into this! now that i look into it closely, the main bumper didnt get scratched but rather the lower portion which I think is part of the ground effects kit. but here are the pics ...
  3. Hey guys ... messed up my front bumper on my IS250 today by overrunning the parking space. The bottom portion of the front bumper got caught on the curb and it left some very visible scratches almost all along the front bumper! :( any of you out there had the same experience? any idea how to get rid of this mess? do i need to replace the entire bumper?
  4. The IS is designed to be a sport/luxury vehicle. It is also a relatively small car, and as a result of those two points, you will feel more of the shift than you would in a larger luxury car. What did you drive, a Lincoln, or a Mercury? What model was it? The size, power, and suspension would make a big difference in the feedback you got from the car. Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles have been notorious for having pretty mushy suspensions, with the exception of the Mustang, and maybe the new Mark and 500 platforms. That said, I have to also say that I don't feel the shifts in my '08 250 very much, unless I have my foot deep into the long skinny pedal... but then, when I do that, I am usually taking the revs up, and paddle shifting. However, when I am driving more aggressively, I do notice a lag between depression of the gas pedal, and reaction of the car. Part of that is the traction control. In new cars with auto trans, it is very difficult to spin the rear wheels... but I digress. Correction: It was a Mercury Milan. I guess I will have it checked on my next service date.
  5. Hey guys ... been a proud owner of a 2007 IS250 for the past 6 months or so. Love the car so far and am very happy overall. The car handles well and I find it reasonably responsive (as much as a 200hp car can be). One gripe I do have is that I have felt that the transmission shifts during acceleration is not as seemless and smooth that I would like it to be. You can almost physically feel the car changing gears as you push on the gas pedal. Drove a Lincoln Mercury the other week (rental while out of town on business) ... really felt it accelerate smoothly with no hesitency (although otherwise the car was crap). Anyone else have the same experience with the IS250? Or is this an isolated issue with my car and have it checked? Any input will be appreciated!
  6. It amazes me that stuff like that MUST be ajusted by the dealer. GM cars, for example, have a dash knob that can adjust the light sensitivity. There's just no good reason they can't make some of those things driver adjusted--especially light sensitivity and auto shut off. man ... you folks are some of the laziest bloggers i have come across in this website! just press the damn lock key TWICE on the key fob and the lights will go off immediately! quit your whining like the Republicans! :P
  7. I read somewhere that tinted windows sometimes mess up the GPS signals. Is your IS tinted?
  8. I dont think you can physically steal the IS x50 (unless someone tows it) ... if someone breaks into the IS, the engine immobilzer activates, meaning your car engine shuts down ... hence rendering it useless. Am I correct in my understanding?
  9. hey guys ... it's time for my 15K miles scheduled maintanence and a couple of Lexus dealers in my area are quoting me approx. $280 for getting the scheduled maintanence done. Does this quote sound reasonable? Or should I opt for just changing the oil and filters and ignore the other minor areas that Lexus recommends looking into while taking the car in for the scheduled maintanence? Any input would be appreciated!
  10. attached is a picture from the Lexus website of the 18" rims ... my 17" have 10 spokes, while - if i can count right - the 18" have 15 spokes! i personally like the 18"s for its darker shade ... anyway i can change the colors besides having to spray paint them? B) That's the accessory wheel 18-in ISP Mode alloy wheels with 18-in tires http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/accessories...ls_w-Tires.html There are also the G-Spider wheels http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/accessories...w-Tires_IS.html But the wheels Smooth1 has pictured are the factory optional 18 inch wheels. Ah! lesson learnt!
  11. attached is a picture from the Lexus website of the 18" rims ... my 17" have 10 spokes, while - if i can count right - the 18" have 15 spokes! i personally like the 18"s for its darker shade ... anyway i can change the colors besides having to spray paint them? B) well, attached is a picture of what is printed on the side of my tire: and here is a pic of the 10 spoke rim: those definately 18's yes? haha! that was quick! agreed .... those are 18"s! anyway, i can change my 17"s shade to a darker tone?

  13. nice one! but correct me if I am wrong ... but your rims look like they are the standard 17" ... The spokes look like the 18's that I came on mine. the spokes on my IS250 looks exactly the same as the ones on Scorpios ... and mine are no 18"s
  14. nice one! but correct me if I am wrong ... but your rims look like they are the standard 17" ...
  15. Have either of you guys done this with your respective IS's? If I decide on adding a sub ... I dont think I have the necessary know-how to do it myself ... so will have to take it to Best Buy or some place like that. But not really sure whether I should trust the "certified crew" to mess with the wiring on my IS.
  16. LOL!!! hahaha ... you are a funny guy Barkat! ri$*BLEEP*hen ... stop being a cheapass "dude" ... if it were upto me ... i'd keep locked up until you grow up!
  17. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Colum...rticleId=124526 Man, that is one of saddest new clips I've seen. That tragic event should be replayed in every high school in America, with a mandatory attendance!! Maybe every car forum should have it as a sticky. not a bad idea at all ... truly tragic! living in Atlanta ... I get to see many senseless idiots driving recklessly on the highway.
  18. LOL!!! Ri-sh-ithen7 ... you are getting creamed here man!
  19. i have read many posts here where you guys seem to be perfectly happy with the stock sound system in the IS250/350. To be honest, I was very disappointed. There is really no "OOmpff" in those 13 speakers and the sound quality is far from "crystal clear." Any of you guys added an after-market amplifier? I dont wanna go all out ... but something decent sized would suffice for my needs. Any suggestions for a decent after market amplifier would be appreciated.
  20. is this the first time you are changing the tires? I was under the impression that the factory installed tires last only 20K miles.
  21. hey guys! wanted to find out whether it is necessary to warm up the engine on the IS by letting the engine run for like 5 minutes in the morning before driving off? I remember my dad used to say to always warm up the engine back in the days in order to protect the engine ... not really sure whether that still holds true for cars like the IS these days since they have come a long way since then! any input would be appreciated!
  22. Manolo1 - I'm curious how this has impacted your MPG City/Hwy? Please share. BaddBoi How would I know if I drive all the time with the ECT on? My guess is that it is totally inmaterial as all you get is faster response and that should amount to -at most- 2%-3% worse mileage... Manolo1 - I believe what Baddboi was trying to get at was what MPG you get with the Power ECT mode so that he could compare to his mileage.
