  1. well...problem solved after going through 3 fuses. Someone put a coin in the cig lighter. <_<
  2. this is exactly what happened yesterday. Can anyone tell me if they had the same problem and what (if any) was the solution? This sux!
  3. It could be your oil has a little coolant in it, but just too little that you dont detect any coolant missing. My 2 cents. How could I check if that's the case? I checked my coolant, and it's been at the same level since last month I checked it.
  4. I have a '92 es300 and it was overheating so we took it in for a test. They said one of the hoses were bad and it was replaced. Since then it doesn't overheat and the temp needle stays in the middle of the gauge (typically). There is this long steep hill where I live and I drove up it last week. Upon getting to the top, I saw the temp rising faster and faster toward red (H). When I got to the top of the hill, I pulled over. Nothing was steaming or leaking, just hot. I let it cool down and everything seemed fine. I tried it a second time and the same thing happened. Everywhere else I drive it's okay, except that one big hill. Does anybody know why this would happen?
  5. Thanks for the info, Lexucan. What exact 194 wedge-base leds did you buy on superbrightleds.com? I know some are wider and/or larger depending on the amount of leds. Do the back passenger doors have the same size bulbs? Do you know what size the festoon bulb is for the dome light?
  6. Can anyone tell me what bulb sizes all the interior lights are on a '92 es300? I do not have the owner's manual and I think the sylvania website is wrong. I want to swap out the old ones and put it leds. anybody know the bulb sizes or led equivalents?
  7. Hey Ontoy, I have a 92 es300 and I live in Honolulu. I wanted to have my timing belt/water pump done but the everywhere I called around was quoting about $1100 to 1600. What is the name and/or number of the shop you took yours to. I can get the t-belt/pump kit for about $200, which includes everything. I just need someone to put it in, but I want to be able to trust they know what they're doing.
  8. Everything seems to be in working order. The coolant is full, the fan works, the thermostat, and water pump are good. The car never over heats (the temp stays in the middle of the gauge) except when I climb this one big hill (actually it's a mountain) and when I'm getting towards the top the gauge goes into the red. I'll pull over and look under the hood. No steam no fluid spilling out, it's just a little hot. Going up the hill the car cannot keep up with the other cars...so I'm wondering if I should take it out of O/D, but would that make it heat up faster? I turned off the a/c and still same thing. I read in the owners manual that the car may overheat going up long steep hills, but I can't be pulling over everytime I go over this hill. What's up? :(
  9. Why do you think LEDs will not work for LCD backlighting..?? LEDs bright enough to "light" the passenger cabin usually generate so much heat that the required heat sink makes them unusable. I read somewhere on a thread that the lights behind the LCDs are soldered in incadescents and if a LED was used there would be spotting on the LCDs. So, I would just put a bright new bulb (maybe halogen) and put the silicone colored boot over it. I've never heard of LEDs having heat output problems. <_<
  10. Hi all, This is my first post, but I've been researching on this site for about 3 months now. I gotta say thank you to everyone for all the info that they have made available here. Good stuff. I just bought a '92 es300 and been trying to clean it up (mod-wise). I changed my gauge lights to bright white LEDs and my headlights to Silverstar Ultras. Next, I want to change all the A/C and Stereo lights. I've seen the thread about how to do it but I was wondering if I could use LEDs for all the button lights and just use the regular bulbs with blue boots for the LCDs (since LEDs wouldn't work on the LCDs)? Since that job plan is still not fully sketched out, in the meantime I want to change all my interior lights to LEDs, but I don't know which LEDs to buy for each interior light. Does anybody know and/or have a list that shows which LEDs could be used to replace each different bulb? Also, I wanted to put in some footwell lighting. I bought a kit that has a switch and LED light tubes online and it's on it's way. Has anyone here put in LED interior underglow lights? It sounds easy to do, but the hard part is going to be running the wires and finding a hole in the fire wall. Thanks for the help
